Computational geometry issues
Presented in viewgraph format are some of the benefits of computational geometry for grid generation, including benefits to grid quality and algorithm efficiency. Many efficient algorithms are available, but it is concluded that high aspect ratio triangulations are not among them
Unstructured Grid Generation Techniques and Software
The Workshop on Unstructured Grid Generation Techniques and Software was conducted for NASA to assess its unstructured grid activities, improve the coordination among NASA centers, and promote technology transfer to industry. The proceedings represent contributions from Ames, Langley, and Lewis Research Centers, and the Johnson and Marshall Space Flight Centers. This report is a compilation of the presentations made at the workshop
Approaches to high aspect ratio triangulations
In aerospace computational uid dynamics calculations, high aspect ratio, or stretched, triangulations are often used to adequately resolve the features of a viscous ow around bodies. In this paper, we explore alternatives to the Delaunay triangulation which can be used to generate high aspect ratio triangulations of point sets. The method is based on a variation of the lifting map concept which derives Delaunay triangulations from convex hull calculations.
