New Record of Macrofungi for the Mycobiota of the Cieszyn Municipality (Polish Western Carpathians) Including New Species to Poland
In this paper, we present the results of mycological research carried out between 2015 and 2018 in the Cieszyn township, in the Silesian Foothills (Outer Western Carpathians). The list of 417 species of macrofungi from the Cieszyn area reported in our previous study, has been expanded further by the addition of 37 taxa found in the current study. Among these, the following deserve special attention: fungi that are new to Poland’s mycobiota (six species: Bryoscyphus dicrani, Discina martinii, Elaphomyces aculeatus, Tuber brumale, T. foetidum, and Russula cerea), taxa subject to legal protection (four species: Disciotis venosa, Grifola frondosa, Mitrophora semilibera, and Sparassis brevipes), as well as fungi that are rare in Poland, included in national or regional red lists, and in the registers of rare and endangered species (24 species including Amanita echinocephala, Arrhenia retiruga, A. spathulata, Catinella olivacea, Elaphomyces maculatus, Hygrophorus discoxanthus, Ophiocordyceps entomorrhiza, Pluteus diettrichii, Tuber aestivum, and T. fulgens). This paper presents the distribution and location of 32 species of fungi along with a short description and illustration of the macro- and micromorphological features of select species and their habitats
Identification of transplanted pancreatic islet cells by radioactive Dithizone-[131I]-Histamine conjugate. Preliminary report
Background: The unique mechanism of dithizone action in the interior of the viable pancreatic islet suggests the possible development of a specific radiopharmaceutical that may have a potential clinical application in the diagnosis of the pancreatic organ allografts or islets rejection.
The radiodiagnostic properties of the newly developed radioactive analogue of dithizone, i.e. Dithizone-[131I]-Histamine conjugate have been evaluated in the present study.
METHODS: The four islet cells transplantation models were chosen for this purpose.
The most important feature of the Dithizone-[131I]-Histamine conjugate is its possessed ability of zinc chelation. As was presented in the recent study, the conjugate stains pink-reddish the isolated pancreatic islets in vitro. Among the studied transplantation models, only the islets grafting under testis capsule enabled determination of the pancreatic islets in rats by radioactive Dithizone-[131I]-Histamine conjugate. The level of the radioactivity in the recipient testis (right) was almost two times higher compared to the controls (0.24 vs. 0.13% ID/g, respectively).
CONCLUSIONS:These preliminary data demonstrate the ability of the developed radioactive analogue of dithizone for in vivo identification of transplanted pancreatic islets, and suggests a potential clinical application of the radiodithizone in the diagnosis of the pancreatic islet rejection
In Case of Emergency Card - support of the emergency services and victims on accident site as a part of the campaigns to improve road safety
Emergency medical services, police, firefighters and all others who provide first aid on-site emergency many times have hardness when they have to inform family or people related with victims. Some years ago italian medical rescuers suggest to mark some number in mobile phone in a special way to make contact with family easier. In the opinions of the Italian rescuers the best way to mark this number is to name it I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency). This kind of mark would make job of medical rescuers easier. More than one number in mobile phone should be called ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. ICE begin in 2005 along the world. Its common in England, Italy, German. In Poland is popular from this year. I.C.E. is promoted by Polish Red Cross
Surgical Treatment of Wounds Using Stem Cells in Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB)
Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a group of hereditary skin diseases, or genodermatoses, characterized by the formation of severe, chronic blisters with painful and life-threatening complications. Despite the previous and ongoing progress in the field, there are still no effective causative treatments for EB. The treatment is limited to relieving symptoms, which—depending on disease severity—may involve skin (blisters, poorly healing wounds caused by the slightest mechanical stimuli, contractures, scarring, pseudosyndactyly) and internal organ abnormalities (esophageal, pyloric, or duodenal atresia; renal failure; and hematopoietic abnormalities). The last decade saw a series of important discoveries that paved the way for new treatment methods, including gene therapy, bone marrow transplantation, cell therapy (allogenic fibroblasts, mesenchymal stem cells [MSCs], and clinical use of induced pluripotent stem cells. Tissue engineering experts are attempting to develop skin-like structures that can facilitate the process of healing to promote skin reconstruction in injuries that are currently incurable. However, this is incredibly challenging, due to the complex structure and the many functions of the skin. Below, we characterize EB and present its potential treatment methods. Despite the cure for EB being still out of reach, recent data from animal models and initial clinical trials in humans have raised patients’, clinicians’, and researchers’ expectations. Consequently, modifying the course of the disease and improving the quality of life have become possible. Moreover, the conclusions drawn based on EB treatment may considerably improve the treatment of other genetic diseases
Economic and Social Regulation in the US Economy Instruments of its Realisation and Theoretlcal Aspects
The article analyzes various aspects of the socio-economic regulation in the US economy being extremely important from the viewpoint of rate and proportions of eoonomic growth, as well as the level of broadly-understood social welfare. These aspects were considered to be: speed and directions of scientific-technical progress, utilisation and protection of the natural environment. The main attention has been foouesed on presentation of the scope forms and methods of regulation.
The eoonomic and social regulation is prompted by an objective necessoty of regulating broadly-understood capital and a need for the state's control over the level and distribution of social welfare. It is both a condition of welfare growth and a fundamental factor ensurlng continuity of the capitalist system reproduction . Consequently, the trend towards regulation or decrease of the scope of economic and social regulation observed in the US economy at present is a reflection of revival o f neoconservative and neoliberal concepts in the eoonomic and political life.It is
of a temporary character and it should not lead to decreasing the
scope of the regulation discussed here in a permanent way.Zadanie pt. „Digitalizacja i udostępnienie w Cyfrowym Repozytorium Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego kolekcji czasopism naukowych wydawanych przez Uniwersytet Łódzki” nr 885/P-DUN/2014 dofinansowane zostało ze środków MNiSW w ramach działalności upowszechniającej naukę
First record of a cold-period myxomycete species Dianema depressum (Lister) Lister in Poland
A myxomycete species, Dianema depressum is reported for the first time in Poland. It has been found in the Jaszowiec stream valley, localized in the Beskid Śląski Mts (the Carpathians) in November 2015. The cool period seems to be the typical time of the species’ occurrence
