McMinnville Habitat for Humanity: Homeownership and Resources Survey
This report outlines the overall satisfaction that homeowners feel in regards to their new homes provided through the Habitat for Humanity program. Details include the overall building experience for Habitat for Humanity homeowners, and the report also includes aspects of possible improvement in the Habitat for Humanity program
Possibilities and limitations of rod-beam theories
Rod-beam theories are founded on hypotheses such as Bernouilli's suggesting flat cross-sections under deformation. These assumptions, which make rod-beam theories possible, also limit the accuracy of their analysis. It is shown that from a certain order upward terms of geometrically nonlinear deformations contradict the rod-beam hypotheses. Consistent application of differential geometry calculus also reveals differences from existing rod theories of higher order. These differences are explained by simple examples
Unlocking Undergraduate Problem Solving
It is difficult to find good problems for undergraduates. In this article, we explore an interesting problem that can be used in virtually any mathematics course. We then offer natural generalizations, state and prove some related results, and ultimately end with several open problems suitable for undergraduate research. Finally, we attempt to shed some light on what makes a problem interesting

Fine particulate capture device
To capture fine particulate matter in a gas such as air, a dielectric fluid is directed to the center of whichever face of a rotating disc is exposed to the air flow. The disc is comprised of two or more segments which bear opposite electrostatic potentials. As the dielectric fluid is centrifuged towards the periphery of the rotating disc, the fluid becomes charged to the same potential as the segment over which it is passing. Particulate matter is attracted to the charged segment and is captured by the fluid. The fluid then carries the captured particulate matter to a collection device such as a toroidal container disposed around the periphery of the disc. A grounded electrically-conductive ring may be disposed at the outer periphery of the disc to neutralize the captured particles and the fluid before they enter the container
Plastic shoe facilitates ultrasonic inspection of thin wall metal tubing
Plastic shoe aids inspection of thin walled stainless steel welded tubing to locate voids or other material defects in critical component equipment. Incorporated in available ultrasonic inspection equipment, it couples the transducer to the tube at desired incident angles
High-temperature oxidation and erosion-resistant refractory coatings
Various refractory coating systems were evaluated for rocket nozzle applications by actual rocket test firings. A reference is noted which identifies failure mechanisms and gives results of the firing tests for 18 coating systems. Iridium, iridium-rhenium, and hafnium oxide-zirconium oxide coatings show most promising results
W' signatures with odd Higgs particles
We point out that W' bosons may decay predominantly into Higgs particles
associated with their broken gauge symmetry. We demonstrate this in a
renormalizable model where the W' and W couplings to fermions differ only by an
overall normalization. This "meta-sequential" W' boson decays into a scalar
pair, with the charged one subsequently decaying into a W boson and a neutral
scalar. These scalars are odd under a parity of the Higgs sector, which
consists of a complex bidoublet and a doublet. The W' and Z' bosons have the
same mass and branching fractions into scalars, and may show up at the LHC in
final states involving one or two electroweak bosons and missing transverse
energy.Comment: 24 page
Statewide LANDSAT inventory of California forests
Six forest cover categories were mapped, along with 10 general land cover classes. To map the state's 100 million acres, 1.6 acre mapping units were utilized. Map products were created. Standing forest acreage for the state was computed to be 26.8 million acres
