Anode materials for electrochemical waste destruction
Electrochemical Oxidation (ECO) offers promise as a low-temperature, atmospheric pressure method for safe destruction of hazardous organic chemical wastes in water. Anode materials tend to suffer corrosion in the intensely oxidizing environment of the ECO cell. There is a need for cheaper, more resistant materials. In this experiment, a system is described for testing anode materials, with examples of several common anodes such as stainless steel, graphite, and platinized titanium. The ECO system is simple and safe to operate and the experiment can easily be expanded in scope to study the effects of different solutions, temperatures, and organic materials

Synthetic Approaches to Naturally Occurring Cyclopentanes
PART I. Five synthetic routes to the prostaglandins, a group of highly substituted cyclopentanes, have been explored. The first four routes were unsuccessful but have provided interesting and useful information on a variety of substituted cyclopentanes. The fifth route has resulted in the isolation of 2-(6-cyanohexyl)-3-(oct-l-yn-3-ol) cyclopent-2-enone. The transformation of this important intermediate into the prostaglandin structure requires three further structural changes - the hydrolysis of the nitrile group, the selective reduction of the enyne system to a trans double bond and the introduction of a second oxygen function into the cyclopentane ring
The Third Way: Prevention and Compensation of Work Injury in Victoria, Australia
This study originated because the leadership of the VWA and the responsible Minister wanted an assessment of the performance of the Victorian scheme within a larger perspective. They commissioned the W. E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, an endowed, not-forprofit research foundation in the United States, to assemble an appropriate team of workers' compensation experts to conduct such a study. The assignment was to carry out a thorough, independent review of the Victorian system of prevention and compensation for work injuries and to provide a set of informed judgments about the system and its performance
