Verification of ZVS boost converter with resonant circuit & modelling of an accurate two-diode PV array system simulator using MATLAB simulink

    Get PDF
This thesis proposes a MATLAB Simulink simulator for Photo Voltaic (PV) Array system. The main contribution is the utilisation of a Two-Diode model to represent a PV cell. This model is preferred because of its better accuracy at low irradiance levels. A PV of Kyocera (KC200GT) 50*10 Array is taken & the characteristics curves are plotted. The same simulator can be interfaced with MPPT algorithms & Power Electronics converters for better efficiency. The P-V & I-V Curves of this simulator is found in exact with that given by the manufacturers. It is expected that the proposed work can be very useful for PV professionals who require a simple, fast & accurate PV simulator in order to design their systems. A detailed analysis of a resonant circuit based soft-switching boost-converter for PV applications is also performed. The converter operates at Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) turn-on and turn-off of the main switch, & Zero Current Switching (ZCS) turn-on and ZVS turn-off of the auxiliary switch due to resonant circuit incorporated into the circuit. Detailed operation of the converters, analysis of various modes, simulation as well as experimental results for the design has also been aptly presented. The systems are modelled & simulated in MATLAB 2013a 64-bit version and the output waveforms are shown

Case Studies In Turbomachinery Operation And Maintenance Using Condition Monitoring.

    Get PDF
LecturePg. 101-112With exceedingly high downtime costs and the need for efficient operation of turbo machinery, integrated condition monitoring, wherein a number of health parameters are analyzed, is becoming increasingly popular in process plants and in utilities. Most operational problems can be diagnosed by developing a correlation among several key operating parameters. A wide range of condition monitoring approaches are available and this paper shows how several approaches can be used in conjunction with one another to solve operational problems. Several case studies pertaining to gas and steam turbines and compressors are presented. A matrix of condition monitoring techniques is provided and case studies are presented. Finally, future trends in the area of condition monitoring are presented

NUTRIENT AVAILABILITY AND SUPPLEMENTATION OF AREA SPECIFIC MINERAL S AND VITAMINS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF CROSSBRED COWS IN BARGARH DISTRICT OF ODISHA

    Get PDF
To assess the availability of nutrients and the effect of area specific mineral mixture supplementation along with vitamins on growth and serum mineral profile, thirty crossbred cows were randomly divided into three equal groups. Group T0 served as control, the animals here were maintained as per the traditional practices of the farmer without any nutritional intervention, whereas in T1 group animals were supplemented with area specific mineral mixture @ 50 g per day per animal, and in T2 group along with area specific mineral mixture, 5 ml of fat soluble vitamins containing Vit. A, Vit. D3 , Vit. E was injected to each animal at 0 day and 7th day of the experiment. This experiment was continued for 60 days, during which initial and final bodyweight was recorded. Blood samples were collected at 0 day and 60 days to assess the serum mineral concentrations. There was significant (P<0.05) increase in the serum mineral concentration (calcium, phosphorous, zinc, manganese and copper) of the treatment groups than the control. However, the average daily gain (g) of the treatment groups did not differ significantly (P>0.05) from the control group. The results suggest that supplementation of area specific mineral mixture alone or along with vitamins may enhance the serum minerals concentration without affecting body weight gain of crossbred cows

We report here a practical and cost-effective method for the synthesis of CHF2-containing benzimidazo- and indolo[2,1,a]-isoquinolin-6(5H)-ones through a visible light-mediated difluoromethylation/cyclization cascade. The method, which affords functionalized multifused N-heterocyclic scaffolds in moderate to high yields under mild reaction conditions, is also easily scalable using low-cost 3D printed photoflow reactors

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is the most common endocrine disorder involving almost all systems of body. Untreated or poorly treated Diabetics are susceptible to develop a series of complications responsible for raised morbidity and mortality. Diabetes Mellitus has a number of long term effects on the Genitourinary system. Urinary tract infections have long been recognised as a significant problem in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Methods: Prospective observational study. Diabetic patients with culture positive UTI were included. Gestational diabetes, Immunocompromised patients and patients with congenital renal anatomical abnormalities were excluded. Results: Authors included 211 numbers of culture positive UTI among diabetic patients. Out of which, 65 were male and 146 were female. Maximum number of patients belong to 56-65 years age group. Escherichia coli was the predominant organism isolated. Gram positive organisms showed 100% sensitivity to Vancomycin and Linezolid. Gram negative organisms showed 100% sensitivity to Polymyxin B.Conclusions: Genitourinary tract infection is not an infrequent complication seen in diabetes patients. Most common causative organism and their antibiotic sensitivity pattern should be done in tertiary care hospital for a better antibiotic policy

Aerothermal-Mechanical Health Monitoring And Diagnostics Or Turbo-Compressor Sets

    Get PDF
PaperPg. 75-94.High speed turbomachinery plays a critical role in today's petrochemical industry. There are very high penalty costs associated with nonavailability and catastrophic failure of critical unspared trains. Additionally the fuel and maintenance costs over the life cycle of plant turbomachinery is very significant. Both of the above factors point to the need for health monitoring and diagnostic systems. The petrochemical industry has in the past placed a heavy emphasis on mechanical (vibration) analysis for both health monitoring and diagnostics. This paper presents a methodology in which both mechanical and aerothermal parameters are utilized for machinery health monitoring, prognosis and diagnosis

    Get PDF
LecturePg. 3-24The growth of cogeneration technology started in the 1960s, but has recently accelerated with several users interested in cogeneration applications. An overview of cogeneration technology is presented, with current experience and prospects, including problem areas, in cogeneration plants detailed. An emphasis is placed on gas turbine based cogeneration systems, as these will account for over 50 percent of the market in the future. As the literature covering cogeneration is so varied, several concepts with references are brought together. The area of reliability, availability and maintainability is addressed in depth, as this is an area where the literature is somewhat lacking. Some future concepts that will have an impact on cogeneration are also discussed, including the use of closed gas turbine cycles, fluidized beds and dual fluid cycles
