    An e-Business Model Ontology for Modeling e-Business

    After explaining why business executives and academics should consider thinking about a rigorous approach to e-business models, we introduce a new e-Business Model Ontology. Using the concept of business models can help companies understand, communicate and share, change, measure, simulate and learn more about the different aspects of e-business in their firm. The generic e-Business Model Ontology (a rigorous definition of the e-business issues and their interdependencies in a company’s business model), which we outline in this paper is the foundation for the development of various useful tools for e-business management and IS Requirements Engineering. The e-Business Model Ontology is based on an extensive literature review and describes the logic of a “business system” for creating value in the Internet era. It is composed of four main pillars, which are Product Innovation, Infrastructure Management, Customer Relationship and Financial Aspects.     Positivity violation for the lattice Landau gluon propagator

    We present explicit numerical evidence of reflection-positivity violation for the lattice Landau gluon propagator in three-dimensional pure SU(2) gauge theory. We use data obtained at very large lattice volumes (V = 80^3, 140^3) and for three different lattice couplings in the scaling region (beta = 4.2, 5.0, 6.0). In particular, we observe a clear oscillatory pattern in the real-space propagator C(t). We also verify that the (real-space) data show good scaling in the range t \in [0,3] fm and can be fitted using a Gribov-like form. The violation of positivity is in contradiction with a stable-particle interpretation of the associated field theory and may be viewed as a manifestation of confinement.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures; minor modifications in the text and in the bibliograph

    Rocking motion induced charging of C60 on h-BN/Ni(111)

    One monolayer of C60 on one monolayer of hexagonal boron nitride on nickel is investigated by photoemission. Between 150 and 250 K the work function decreases and the binding energy of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) increases by approx. 100 meV. In parallel, the occupancy of the, in the cold state almost empty, lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) changes by 0.4 electrons. This charge redistribution is triggered by onset of molecular rocking motion, i.e. by orientation dependent tunneling between the LUMO of C60 and the substrate. The magnitude of the charge transfer is large and cannot be explained within a single particle picture. It is proposed to involve electron-phonon coupling where C60- polaron formation leads to electron self-trapping.Comment: 15 pages, 4 figure

    We study quantum field models in indefinite metric. We introduce the modified Wightman axioms of Morchio and Strocchi as a general framework of indefinite metric quantum field theory (QFT) and present concrete interacting relativistic models obtained by analytical continuation from some stochastic processes with Euclidean invariance. As a first step towards scattering theory in indefinite metric QFT, we give a proof of the spectral condition on the translation group for the relativistic models.Comment: 13 page

    Lattice Regularization of the Chiral Schwinger Model

    We analyze the chiral Schwinger model on an infinite lattice using the continuum definition of the fermion determinant and a linear interpolation of the lattice gauge fields. For non-compact and Wilson formulation of the gauge field action it is proven that the effective lattice model is Osterwalder-Schrader positive, which is a sufficient condition for the reconstruction of a physical Hilbert space from the model defined on a Euclidean lattice. For the non-compact model we furthermore establish the existence of critical points where the corresponding continuum theory can be reconstructed. We show that the continuum limit for the two-point functions of field strength and chiral densities can be controlled analytically.     The Business Model Handbook for Developing Countries

    The Business Model Handbook (BMH) for developing countries is a proposition for a tool that has the goal to help Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) and local entrepreneurs to design business models that use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and particularly the Internet in the context of developing economies. It shall help to develop the urgently needed critical mass of knowledge workers, technology users, and motivated entrepreneurs in order to deploy ICT in businesses of developing countries. Never before the Internet it has been as easy to share and transfer knowledge in such an efficient and global way. The objective of this Paper is twofold. First it proposes a theoretical business model framework (BMF) which shall allow SMEs, but also motivated local entrepreneurs in developing countries to understand the most relevant business issues in the Information Society. The BMF gives special attention to the opportunities that arise out of the use of Information Technology (IT) and particularly the use of the Internet for businesses in emerging economies (i.e. e-commerce). The second objective, which is the introduction of the Business Model Handbook for Developing Countries, shall allow an efficient knowledge transfer of the concepts developed and illustrated in the BMF.     Negative-Energy Spinors and the Fock Space of Lattice Fermions at Finite Chemical Potential

    Recently it was suggested that the problem of species doubling with Kogut-Susskind lattice fermions entails, at finite chemical potential, a confusion of particles with antiparticles. What happens instead is that the familiar correspondence of positive-energy spinors to particles, and of negative-energy spinors to antiparticles, ceases to hold for the Kogut-Susskind time derivative. To show this we highlight the role of the spinorial ``energy'' in the Osterwalder-Schrader reconstruction of the Fock space of non-interacting lattice fermions at zero temperature and nonzero chemical potential. We consider Kogut-Susskind fermions and, for comparison, fermions with an asymmetric one-step time derivative.Comment: 14p

    The Modern Religious Language of Education: Rousseau's Emile

    The Republican education, its concepts, theories, and form of discourse belong to the shared European heritage of the pre-modern Age. The pedagogy of humanism and its effects on the early Modern Age are represented by Republicanism. Even if Republicanism found a political continuation in liberalism and democratism of the Modern Age, the same cannot be said of pedagogic continuity without some reservations. In pedagogy of the Modern Age an alternative to Republicanism prevails that builds onto a body of concepts, discourse, and theory; it goes back to an old theological tradition. Rousseau chooses this alternative exclusively for his concepts of education. He is neither the inventor nor the one who builds up this language in contrast to pedagogical Republicanism. Nonetheless, the pedagogical canonization of Rousseau as one of the co-founders of pedagogical Modernity, marks the specific development that this theological language of pedagogy undergoes at the turn of the nineteenth century. Originally it is closely linked to specific theological, dogmatic lines of thought, namely, to the respective Piety movements within the two Christian denominations of Western Europe. Yet at the turn of the nineteenth century, this theological language of pedagogy increasingly loses that exclusive link to this particular context and becomes thus freely available to any form of pedagogy, which puts at its centre the child's soul, absolute inwardness, and introspection as both holy and also threatened by a basically decadent social environment and outward worl
