The revolution and development of technology have influenced the relationship among people, society, environment, and socio-economy. This issue plays a crucial role in prospering the quality of future grassroots of the nation on the term of values, attitudes, and moral development. Education is a tool that thrives and imparts value-based education, starting from early education. Therefore, to upbringing the aforementioned mission, we employ a phenomenological study to explore the perception and opinion among Design and Technology (DNT) teachers in embedding Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) elements among primary school students. This study focuses on the teacher’s pedagogical approach in the classroom contexts and teachers’ readiness in the implementation of ESD, comprises of three main elements: environment, social, and economical. The formulated research question for this study is what teachers’ views are and how they perceive ESD as part of the subject. Qualitative research was conducted to illustrate the perception and understanding of ESD elements in DNT subjects. Selected participants are among the Head of DNT Panels and at the same time, teach DNT as their major subject. The data were collected using semi-structured interviews. Informants’ views and feedback were derived and transcribed using Nvivo software. The theme emerged from the constant comparative analysis were triangulated with secondary data; for example, field observation, memo, journals, and teacher's lesson plan. Analysis of the data indicated that student-centered learning as the theme implemented by most participants to impart ESD through student’s learning activities. Education is the optimal mechanism to disseminate ESD and encouraging learners in moral values

The application of Project Outcome-based Learning (Po-BL) has been applied in teaching and learning environments for many years. Po-BL plays an important role in ensuring students learning effectiveness and frequency. Po-BL offers tangible invention as a result that is proof of student participation and which confirms student competency in the relevant subject-matter. However, it is often misinformed that not only can Po-BL transform student comprehension, in the context of the subject matter at hand, but also indirectly promotes student practical understanding which becomes the ultimate goal of the teaching and learning. This research argues that the existing accepted method of Po-BL, was not solely designed for the purpose of developing a product, but also encourages overall student learning experiences. In contemplating the issue, this research is a case study of 40 undergraduate students enrolled in STE3603 (Manipulative Skills III). This course takes 14 weeks (one semester) to complete. The students have undergone myriad Po-BL activities and participated in organizing an Innovation Showcase at the Faculty of Educational Studies, Universiti Putra Malaysia. As part of the showcase, students were able to exhibit their invention (Robot) by contesting in a RoboWars competition. The students who experienced multiple phases in the Po-BL activities were invited to be part of the research study by answering online qualitative open-ended questions via Jot Form. The questions were formulated in a broader sense to allow participants to reflect on their entire experiences from Po-BL activities. All responses were downloaded in an Excel Spreadsheet and analyzed using two different phases, both Word Cloud and thematic analysis with the color-coding technique. The themes that emerged from the study describe the entire learning outcomes from the Po-BL experiences, which guide future research to glean more understanding on what Po-BL potentially offers

Teachers' competency has sparked much interest among educational stakeholders in Malaysia. The debates among how well Malaysian teachers educate students has produced concern and become interminably reported in research. Under the government civil servants' services, teachers have been called upon to gain and bringing back this noble and reputable profession at its standard and earn the trust of parents in ensuring the success of their children at school. As part of this matter, TVET stream in Malaysia becomes sensational and selected as one of the national agendas in producing the local manpower and human capital development, where the spirit is to grow the young generation to become a skilled-worker in industry. Indeed, encumbrance issues such as teacher competency, program accreditation, and unemployment among graduates are among those matters mostly brought into round-table discussions and conversations among stakeholders. Therefore, this article depicted one of the issues, which is on the basis of teachers' competency and analyzed the relationship between teacher's competency traits (knowledge, skills, attitude) and teaching practices in practical-based learning and also to discover the best predictor contributed to teacher's competency measurement. A survey was distributed to 150 TVET teachers at three selected vocational colleges in Selangor. The construct of the questionnaire was adapted from prior studies and undergone a pilot study to ensure the questionnaire fit with intended research objective. The results of the study revealed that knowledge, skills, and attributes have played a major role in ensuring the competency level of Teachers. Along with the findings, the knowledge of the teachers was found the most critical factor to describe TVET teacher’s competency. The implication of the results suggested that holistic traits of teacher that in knowledge, skills, and attitudes inclusively empower, their competency level of becoming effective teachers. Notwithstanding the need for the development of skilled manpower must conclusively enlighten not only knowledge-based but also students' discovery of their skills and attitude potential especially when entering the job environment. Therefore, before proceeding with the teaching and learning environment, the teacher must first imply all these characteristics and exercise this application to students. Ultimately, the outcome from this environment will help students to venture the employment market and increase the likeliness of getting hired; locally and global job market
