    Gempur Subuh Program (PGS) is one of the religious programs run by an-Nur Mosque, RMN Lumut Base. The program aims to increase the spirit of worship and spiritual awareness among the Navy people. The objective of this study is to obtain feedback on the attendance of the Navy people for PGS, whether they are willingly present, forced or present due to other reasons. The design of this study is quantitative using descriptive approach. A total of 1087 respondents were selected to answer questionnaires which were distributed online. The data obtained were analyzed using percentage, mean and standard deviation. The findings show that the implementation of PGS has received a good response, with “self-awareness” marks the highest factor for the attendance. Continuous improvements need to be made to further enhance its management and programming. Wanita dan aspek keilmuan ibarat ikatan yang saling berpadu dalam memastikan keharmonian tamadun Islam. Namun, cabaran seperti masalah kesihatan jasmani dan rohani boleh mengganggu proses pembentukan tamadun Islam itu. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat sejauh mana pendekatan terapi psikospiritual Islam di Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Pahang Kampus Jengka yang dilakukan khusus bagi pelajar wanita yang mengalami masalah kerohanian. Kajian ini juga memaparkan proses rawatan kesihatan pelajar secara umum di kampus sebelum dirawat dengan kaedah terapi psikospiritual Islam. Kajian mendapati UiTM Pahang Kampus Jengka telah mengambil inisiatif yang tepat dalam usaha menjaga kemaslahatan pelajar di kampus. Seterusnya membawa suatu perubahan yang lebih positif dalam kehidupan pelajar secara holist Program Gempur Subuh (PGS) adalah salah satu program kerohanian bagi aktiviti pengimarahan Masjid an-Nur, Pangkalan TLDM Lumut. Program ini bermatlamat untuk meningkatkan penghayatan ibadah dan keagamaan kepada para anggota.  Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan maklum balas berkaitan kehadiran anggota ke PGS, sama ada mereka hadir dengan rela hati, terpaksa ataupun hadir atas faktor-faktor lain. Reka bentuk kajian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif.  Seramai 1087 responden telah dipilih untuk  menjawab soal selidik yang diedar secara atas talian. Data-data yang diperolehi telah dianalisis menggunakan peratus, min dan sisihan piawai.  Dapatan kajian mendapati pelaksanaan PGS  telah mendapat respon yang baik.  Faktor kesedaran kendiri anggota adalah paling tinggi dalam mendorong kehadiran ke PGS. Penambahbaikan secara berterusan perlu dilakukan bagi memantapkan lagi pengurusan dan pengisian program

    The Stage of Western Orientalists Scholarly Studies in Islam: A review] Peringkat pendekatan kajian sarjana Orientalis Barat terhadap Islam: Satu analisis

    Majority of the orientalists adhere to the philosophy of logical empirical positivism, a belief that emphasizes on the total use of mind as a key approach to obtaining accurate scientific facts based on systematic and thorough method of research. This philosophy refuses to prove a fact using sources from the revelation because it is considered irrelevant in historical proof and has created biased and sceptical views about the Malay community in Malaya. This article focuses on the analysis of the orientalist approach in evaluating Islam, as well as the extent to which Islam influenced the lives of the people in Malaya. The author used historiography and comparative methods to analyse the orientalists’ views. The results showed that the orientalist thinking approach in evaluating Islam and its followers especially the Malay community presented a sceptical viewpoint, which has made each of these writings biased on a one-sided judgment and deviated from the historical development of the great Islamic civilization. This false judgement had emerged due to the weakness of the orientalists to understand the Muslims, especially the Malay community due to the European-centric thinking known as Euro-centrism. This thought elevated Europe as a great and civilized nation over other nations, the so-called "ambassador of civilization", and the saviour of all need-to-be civilized nations

    Kemunculan golongan Syiah mula kelihatan di Malaysia setelah tercetusnya revolusi Iran tahun 1979 menyebabkan ajaran mereka menular dalam masyarakat Melayu Islam. Ini dapat diperhatikan dengan kemunculan hauzah-hauzah Syiah Melayu di seluruh Malaysia, tangkapan-tangkapan pihak jabatan agama Islam negeri terhadap aktiviti penyebaran Syiah dan kemunculan para graduan Melayu daripada Iran dan lain-lain negara. Kajian ini bertujuan membongkar kesan pengaruh dakyah Syiah di Malaysia terhadap pelajar-pelajar sekolah agama menengah di Selangor serta tahap pengetahuan mereka terhadap ajaran ini. Kajian kuantitatif ini bersifat diskriptif menggunakan kaedah tinjauan (survey reseach) melalui instrumen soal selidik dan purposive sample kepada 756 pelajar-pelajar SPM tahun 2018 daripada 9 buah sekolah menengah asrama penuh. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa 7 responden mempunyai rakan berfahaman Syiah, 1 responden terlibat dengan ajaran Syiah, dan seramai 107 responden tidak pernah mendengar taklimat atau ceramah berkenaan dengan kesesatan Syiah. Justeru usaha menyedarkan masyarakat Islam dalam kalangan pelajar muslim tentang penyelewangan ajaran Syiah dan kesesatan mereka perlu ditekankan dan pendedahan secara berperingkat perlu dilaksanakan sebelum mereka melangkah ke alam universiti yang pastinya lebih terbuka dan mencabar

    Elemen Pengurusan Kelas Pensyarah Cemerlang Pendidikan Islam di Politeknik

    Artikel ini membincangkan elemen pengurusan kelas yang dimiliki oleh Pensyarah Cemerlang Pendidikan Islam (PCPI) sebagai seorang pendidik di politeknik. Pendekatan kajian ini menggunakan sepenuhnya kajian kualitatif menerusi kaedah kajian kes. Seramai enam orang Pensyarah Cemerlang Pendidikan Islam dipilih sebagai peserta kajian temu bual ini dan disokong oleh tiga orang Ketua Unit Pendidikan Islam, 12 orang rakan pensyarah, dan 12 orang pelajar. Seterusnya data temu bual ini ditriangulasikan dengan dapatan data yang dikumpul dari pemerhatian dan analisis dokumen. Analisis kajian ini menggunakan perisian N’Vivo 7.0 bagi menghasilkan tema dan ciri pengurusan kelas Pensyarah Cemerlang Pendidikan Islam di politeknik sehinggalah membentuk pola. Hasil kajian menunjukkan terdapat 13 elemen pengurusan kelas yang dimiliki oleh Pensyarah Cemerlang Pendidikan Islam di politeknik. Semua elemen ini dimiliki oleh sebahagian besar PCPI dan mencapai tahap pola, iaitu mengingati dan memanggil nama pelajar,mengaitkan pelajar dengan PdP, memahami keadaan pelajar, tegas pada tempat, memberi teguran secara berhikmah, mendekatkan diri dengan pelajar, meninggikan suara, pensyarah datang awal, mencari penyelesaian, menggunakan unsur jenaka, penekanan adab belajar, tidak menekankan hukuman dan tidak mengabaikan pelajar bukan Islam.     Ar-Rahnu scheme as flexible micro financing mechanism for society: Case study on YAPEIM Ar-Rahnu in State of Perak

    The implementation of ar-rahnuscheme which aims to assist the poor and enhance Islamic banking institution in Malaysia, since 1993 has proven to be able to provide immediate micro financing services to those with financial difficulties. Nevertheless, after two decades in operation, it is found that the involvement of members of Malaysian society in the scheme is still relatively low where the participants are mainly those of low income and the poor. The unique scheme which is not driven by profit-making and free of riba (usury) elements should be expanded to benefit all people and not confined to certain groups only. Hence, this study is conducted to identify the level of knowledge among general public about the ar-rahnu system and the level of acceptance among the masses of the scheme as a means to solve financial problems. It is hoped that the study which focuses on ar-rahnu institution of YaPEIM can be used as a guideline by relevant agencies or parties to ensure greater involvement of members of the society in the scheme, thus further augment the position of ar-rahnu institution in mainstream Islamic banking system in Malaysia

    Income zakat is an annual tax or payment imposed on certain amount of income generated from either fixed or non-fixed sources, generally known as al-Mal al-Mustafad. In Malaysia, this kind of payment or zakat was first made mandatory in 1997 by National Fatwa Council Malaysia. The fatwa or decision was then gazetted by all state governments in Malaysia except that of Perak. This research aims to identify the level of understanding among Muslim community in the state of Perak regarding income zakat and its relevant procedures particularly the calculation of zakat. It is imperative to explore this issue since many Muslims of present day fail to perform zakat income as they are not aware of the tax or payment that has been made incumbent on them. Furthermore, the study also sheds light on the people’s level of understanding of how the zakat payment is to be calculated or counted. The findings of this study are useful for relevant agencies in particular religious bodies, in finding ways and means to disseminate awareness to the Muslims of their responsibility to pay income zakat, which will result in an increase of zakat revenue that can be then utilized for the enhancement of the economy of Muslims in the country

    Intrapersonal skills have been referred as important to be acquired by teachers to become excellent in teaching. Teachers will be able to self-reflect their behaviour, modify the recognized behaviour accordingly, build strength and reduce limitation. Purpose: This study aimed to explore the elements of Intrapersonal skills acquired by Excellent Lecturers of Islamic Education (ELIE) in Malaysia polytechnics. Methodology: Interview method was adopted to conduct this study. Six lecturers teaching Islamic Education were chosen as participants, supported by three head of Islamic Education unit, 12 colleagues, and 12 students. The interview data were triangulated with the data collected through observation and document analysis. Data were analysed using software N’Vivo version 7, producing themes and elements of interpersonal skills which finally creating pattern of data (matrix tables). Finding: Themes related to the elements of intrapersonal skill practiced both during teaching and learning (T&L) inside and outside classroom were recognized. The ELLIE were discovered to apply four elements of the intrapersonal skills, which were recognising self-ability, acquiring thinking and problem solving skills, self-motivated and the passion to achieve personal satisfaction. Significant: These four elements help ELIE to identify the true meaning in teaching and finally produce distinctive feature for excellent teaching. The finding of this study can be used as guidance, especially to the novice lecturers in pursuing excellent teaching experience in the future

    The impact of implementing Imam al-Ghazali’s perception on self-monitoring (Muraqabah)on the development of healthy emotions among marine students during the pre-sea training

    Self-monitoring is considered as a crucial step in mastering self-regulation skill, which brings a person closer to achievement set up earlier. This study aims to investigate the implementation of self-monitoring in the light of Imam al-Ghazali’s perception, known as muraqabah and to explore the impact of implementing muraqabah on the development of healthy emotions. The number of 376 students were randomly selected from five public and private higher institutions that offering Marine-related courses. The students were all Muslims and have completed the pre-sea training. A set of questionnaire was developed from items selected through experts’ consensus of opinion (three-round modified Delphi method). The data collected were analysed descriptively (median and inter-quartile range) and inferentially (Spearman rhocorrelation analysis) using SPSS version 24. The study found that the level of muraqabah during the pre-sea training and the level of healthy emotions after completing the pre-sea training were both high (Med=4.00, JI==1.00). All items of muraqabah during the planning phase and the development of healthy emotions after the pre-sea training were positively and moderately correlated (rs(376)=.459, p<.001). The result shows that the implementation of muraqabah before the students implement the strategy to succeed the pre-sea training increases the development of healthy emotions after the students returned from the pre-sea training. It also shows that self-monitoring which enhances through religious valueshelps students to become emotionally healthy, thus, it develops healthy image about the world of seafaring

    Self-regulation is a very important skill to help individuals face the challenges of life and succeed in life. This article discusses the role of parents in cultivating akhlaq self-regulating skills as an educational process in Islam. The discussion is not only done by emphasizing the rules of cultivating akhlaq self-regulation as suggested in the Islamic perspective, also the comparison with the Western perspectives. Through the discussion, it can be concluded that, there are four ways for parents to cultivate akhlaq self-regulation, which are; social interactions, parents as a model of good attitudes, encouraging the practice of good attitudes through positive and negative reinforcement, and making good behaviour as a habit through repetition. Discussions and conclusion made in this article should help parents and teachers in the process of cultivating self-regulation over future generations
