Character Development In Mathematics Problem-Based Learning
Concept of learning is an active process to construct meaning as the result relating new ideas on the previous understanding. Therefore, learning mathematics in the classroom is a process to build a deep understanding by the students through activities designed by teacher. Teacher-designed activities in learning are not only to developing means but also to developing student’s character that will be used for the provision of social life. Therefore education is required not only to build an understanding to students, but also must be able to perform his role and function to inculcate moral values and character. Then, the purpose of education is really a human being who has the knowledge and personality fit with the character of the Indonesian nation. Mathematics Problem based learning could be the way to reach those purposes. The results of this research are (1) problem-based learning can be used as a means to build character behavior and social skills students at the junior high school, (2) Character behavior and social skills that can be built include trustworthy, respect, individual accountability, social responsibility, concern, questioning skills, gives an idea or opinion, being a good listener and cooperation.

Cote d'ivoire volatility, shocks and growth
Key economic variables in Cote d'Ivoire vary widely from their long-run trends, moving in multi-year cyclical patterns. Cocoa prices move with cycles in growth rates, capital stock, real exchange rates, terms of trade, cocoa production, and coffee production and output. These patterns have become more pronounced since the 1970s as volatility increased. This paper characterize these cycles, estimates the cocoa price-quantity relationship, and analyzes co-movements due to shocks generate a forecast. Three key conclusions follow. First, the economy of Cote d'Ivoire has experienced two fundamental transitions, one in 1976 related to cocoa, and another in 1994 related to exchange rates. From 1960 to 1976, world cocoa prices grew steadily, and then fell in real terms. The country's growth showed a similar pattern. An econometric model indicates that the relationship between cocoa price and quantity experienced a break in 1976 and provides evidence of Cote d'Ivoire's significant influence on world cocoa prices. Second, cocoa price shocks affect growth rates and trade indicators, and are important sources of volatility in the Cote d'Ivoire. The terms of trade and real exchange rate are also sources of volatility for growth and productivity. Third, a forecast of per-worker output based on these variables predicts continued declines in GDP per worker in Cote d'Ivoire for the near future. This dismal forecast implies the need for a radical and rapid improvement on political, security, and economic management to reverse the two and a half decades of economic decline.Emerging Markets,Markets and Market Access,Economic Theory&Research,Crops&Crop Management Systems,Access to Markets
Cote d'Ivoire : competitiveness, Cocoa, and the real exchange rate
This paper explores competitiveness of Cote d'Ivoire's economy over a long period of 1960-2003 and its link with cocoa prices. The main conclusions are as follows. First, using four measures of real effective exchange rate (REER) for the 1960-2002 period, we track the evolution of REER and conclude, inter alia, that until 2003, REER remained well below its 1994 level. Second, we find that based on our measure of the multilateral REER with dynamic weights, which covers most recorded trade, France no longer dominates Cote d'Ivoire's trade. Instead, Cote d'Ivoire has diversified its set of trading partners. Unfortunately, it has also specialized in one export product, raw cocoa. This paper aims to contribute to the question to what extent do cocoa prices affect Cote d'Ivoire's competitiveness in world trade? Third, the answer to this question is that cocoa prices are an important determinant of Cote d'Ivoire's competitiveness. Similar to the case of a classic"Dutch Disease,"increases in the real world price of a"natural resource"(i.e., cocoa) tend to result in the appreciation of the CFA franc and a loss in competitiveness. Econometric tests further confirm that 1994 was a"break-point"not only for growth and productivity (as documented in the two related papers) but also for trade competitiveness. Recent productivity per worker trends versus wages also seem to indicate slow growth in 1996-2000, without major improvement in competitiveness.Economic Theory&Research,Currencies and Exchange Rates,Emerging Markets,Markets and Market Access,Macroeconomic Management
Shape-Based Plagiarism Detection for Flowchart Figures in Texts
Plagiarism detection is well known phenomenon in the academic arena. Copying
other people is considered as serious offence that needs to be checked. There
are many plagiarism detection systems such as turn-it-in that has been
developed to provide this checks. Most, if not all, discard the figures and
charts before checking for plagiarism. Discarding the figures and charts
results in look holes that people can take advantage. That means people can
plagiarized figures and charts easily without the current plagiarism systems
detecting it. There are very few papers which talks about flowcharts plagiarism
detection. Therefore, there is a need to develop a system that will detect
plagiarism in figures and charts. This paper presents a method for detecting
flow chart figure plagiarism based on shape-based image processing and
multimedia retrieval. The method managed to retrieve flowcharts with ranked
similarity according to different matching sets.Comment: 12 page
An Analysis of Energy Intensity in Indonesian Manufacturing
Many countries utilize their resources at optimal capacity in fostering countries’ economic growth without any concern on environmental impact. Even though the importance of environmental issue as one of the important aspects in sustainable development is fully understood, the economic growth still remained as the priority target. In Indonesia, industry is one of the important sectors both in term of its contribution to national output and national energy consumption. Based on Indonesian Statistic Bureau, industry is always at the top list of contributor of national energy consumption since 2000. This paper employs the decomposition analysis to calculate what factors contribute to the change in energy intensity. We also conduct a panel data analysis to investigate the determinants of energy intensity using firm level data. The result suggests that, even though the industrial sector’s energy intensity is higher than national level, it varied across sub sectors within the industry. Meanwhile, the econometric analysis suggests that wage, age, capital intensity and share of capital owned by private sector have positive impact on energy intensity, whereas size of firms, labor productivity and technology intensity has negative impact on energy intensity.energy intensity, industry, firm, decomposition, panel data

HIGH ORDER THINGKING SKILLS AND SELF REGULATED LEARNING OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IN BANDAR LAMPUNG CITY
The development of mathematics high order thinking skills (MHOTs) is currently
the main goal of learning mathematics. With these changes, the vision of school
mathematics more emphasis on achieving "mathematical proficiency" that requires
an integrated achievement of conceptual understanding, procedures fluency, strategic
competence, adapted reasoning, and productive disposition. It encourages teachers
to act more as a model, facilitator, trainer than as a conduit of information and
students act as an independent learner and has thinking skills. This study describes
MHOTs and self-regulated learning (SRL) of junior high school students in Bandar
Lampung city before following study using interactive media based on open-ended
problem. Based on the analysis of data, it is concluded that MHOTs and SRL of
students on high-rank school, middle-rank school, low-rank school, and all of
students before using interactive media based on open-ended problems are has
not met expectations. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a learning that can
improve the MHOTs and self-regulated learning of students
