Spin Freezing in the Spin Liquid Compound FeAl2O4
Spin freezing in the -site spinel FeAlO which is a spin liquid
candidate is studied using remnant magnetization and nonlinear magnetic
susceptibility and isofield cooling and heating protocols. The remnant
magnetization behavior of FeAlO differs significantly from that of a
canonical spin glass which is also supported by analysis of the nonlinear
magnetic susceptibility term . Through the power-law analysis of
, a spin-freezing temperature, = 11.40.9~K and critical
exponent, = 1.480.59 are obtained. Cole-Cole analysis of magnetic
susceptibility shows the presence of broad spin relaxation times in
FeAlO, however, the irreversible dc susceptibility plot discourages an
interpretation based on conventional spin glass features. The magnetization
measured using the cooling-and-heating-in-unequal-fields protocol brings more
insight to the magnetic nature of this frustrated magnet and reveals
unconventional glassy behaviour. Combining our results, we arrive at the
conclusion that the present sample of FeAlO consists of a majority spin

Lipid hydrolysis in mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) during frozen storage
The hydrolytic changes in the lipids of mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) during storage at -l8°C were studied with a view to understand the factors involved in the formation of free fatty acids. Only the phosphorylated fraction did undergo hydrolysis at an appreciable rate. It was found that the free fatty acid production was mainly associated with the phospholipid hydrolysis. As regards the triglycerides and unsaponifiable matter, there was no significant change in levels during frozen storage

Trust Model for Optimized Cloud Services
Cloud computing with its inherent advantages draws attention for business critical applications, but concurrently expects high level of trust in cloud service providers. Reputation-based trust is emerging as a good choice to model trust of cloud service providers based on available evidence. Many existing reputation based systems either ignore or give less importance to uncertainty linked with the evidence. In this paper, we propose an uncertainty model and define our approach to compute opinion for cloud service providers. Using subjective logic operators along with the computed opinion values, we propose mechanisms to calculate the reputation of cloud service providers. We evaluate and compare our proposed model with existing reputation models

Secure communication using dynamic VPN provisioning in an Inter-Cloud environment
Most of the current cloud computing platforms offer Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model, which aims to provision basic virtualised computing resources as on-demand and dynamic services. Nevertheless, a single cloud does not have limitless resources to offer to its users, hence the notion of an Inter-Cloud enviroment where a cloud can use the infrastructure resources of other clouds. However, there is no common framework in existence that allows the srevice owners to seamlessly provision even some basic services across multiple cloud service providers, albeit not due to any inherent incompatibility or proprietary nature of the foundation technologies on which these cloud platforms are built. In this paper we present a novel solution which aims to cover a gap in a subsection of this problem domain. Our solution offer a security architecture that enables service owners to provision a dynamic and service-oriented secure virtual private network on top of multiple cloud IaaS providers. It does this by leveraging the scalability, robustness and flexibility of peer- to-peer overlay techniques to eliminate the manual configuration, key management and peer churn problems encountered in setting up the secure communication channels dynamically, between different components of a typical service that is deployed on multiple clouds. We present the implementation details of our solution as well as experimental results carried out on two commercial clouds

Dynamic virtual private network provisioning from multiple cloud infrastructure service providers
The Cloud infrastructure service providers currently provision basic virtualized computing resources as on demand and dynamic services but there is no common framework in existence that allows the seamless provisioning of even these basic services across multiple cloud service providers, although this is not due to any inherent incompatibility or proprietary nature of the foundation technologies on which these cloud platforms are built. We present a solution idea which aims to provide a dynamic and service oriented provisioning of secure virtual private networks on top of multiple cloud infrastructure service providers. This solution leverages the benefits of peer to peer overlay networks, i.e., the flexibility and scalability to handle the churn of nodes joining and leaving the VPNs and can adapt the topology of the VPN as per the requirements of the applications utilizing its intercloud secure communication framework
Double-phase transition and giant positive magnetoresistance in the quasi-skutterudite GdIrSn
The magnetic, thermodynamic and electrical/thermal transport properties of
the caged-structure quasi-skutterudite GdIrSn are
re-investigated. The magnetization , specific heat and the
resistivity reveal a double-phase transition -- at 10~K
and at 8.8~K -- which was not observed in the previous report on
this compound. The antiferromagnetic transition is also visible in the thermal
transport data, thereby suggesting a close connection between the electronic
and lattice degrees of freedom in this Sn-based quasi-skutterudite. The
temperature dependence of is analyzed in terms of a power-law for
resistivity pertinent to Fermi liquid picture. Giant, positive
magnetoresistance (MR) 80 is observed in GdIrSn at
2~K with the application of 9~T. The giant MR and the double magnetic
transition can be attributed to the quasi-cages and layered antiferromagnetic
structure of GdIrSn vulnerable to structural distortions and/or
dipolar or spin-reorientation effects. The giant value of MR observed in this
class of 3:4:13 type alloys, especially in a Gd-compound, is the highlight of

The Indian subcontinent with a total Iand area of 3.3
million km2 and a coast line of 8041 km is blessed with marine
wealth. The west coast of the country is bordered by the states
of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. The east
coast is constituted by the marine boundaries of Tamil Nadu,
Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and West Bengal.
Besides these, we have sovereign rights over the waters around
the Lakshadweep group of islands situated in the Arabian sea
and Andaman & Nicobar group of islands situated in the Bay
of Bengal. As per the laws of the seas convention, every
country has sovereign rights over the waters lying within 200
nautical miles perpendicular to its respective coast line. This
sea area is called the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). The
nations have absolute rights to explore, exploit, regulate and
conserve the living and non-living resources within their EEZ
Ion beam induced enhanced diffusion from gold thin films in silicon
Enhanced diffusion of gold atoms into silicon substrate has been studied in
Au thin films of various thicknesses (2.0, 5.3, 10.9 and 27.5 nm) deposited on
Si(111) and followed by irradiation with 1.5 MeV Au2+ at a flux of 6.3x10^12
ions cm-2 s-1 and fluence up to 1x10^15 ions cm-2. The high resolution
transmission electron microscopy measurements showed the presence of gold
silicide formation for the above-mentioned systems at fluence greater than
equal to 1x1014 ions cm-2. The maximum depth to which the gold atoms have been
diffused at a fluence of 1x10^14 ions cm-2 for the cases of 2.0, 5.3, 10.9 and
27.5 nm thick films has been found to be 60, 95, 160 and 13 nm respectively.
Interestingly, at higher fluence of 1x1015 ions cm-2 in case of 27.5 nm thick
film, gold atoms from the film transported to a maximum depth of 265 nm in the
substrate. The substrate silicon is found to be amorphous at the above fluence
values where unusually large mass transport occurred. Enhanced diffusion has
been explained on the basis of ion beam induced, flux dependent amorphous
nature of the substrate, and transient beam induced temperature effects. This
work confirms the absence of confinement effects that arise from spatially
confined structures and existence of thermal and chemical reactions during ion
