Effective potential for Polyakov loops from a center symmetric effective theory in three dimensions
We present lattice simulations of a center symmetric dimensionally reduced
effective field theory for SU(2) Yang Mills which employ thermal Wilson lines
and three-dimensional magnetic fields as fundamental degrees of freedom. The
action is composed of a gauge invariant kinetic term, spatial gauge fields and
a potential for the Wilson line which includes a "fuzzy" bag term to generate
non-perturbative fluctuations. The effective potential for the Polyakov loop is
extracted from the simulations including all modes of the loop as well as for
cooled configuration where the hard modes have been averaged out. The former is
found to exhibit a non-analytic contribution while the latter can be described
by a mean-field like ansatz with quadratic and quartic terms, plus a

Analysis of genetic linkage in the cowpea vigna unguiculata
Genetic analysis of 12 loci conditioning morphological characteristics indicated several linkages in cowpea Vigna
unguiculata (L.) Walp). Using both backcross and F2 joint segregation data, these 12 loci were assigned to five
linkage groups. The loci Pg for nodal pigmentation, Pf for purple flower, Pc for smooth seed coat, Na for narrow
eye, and Br for brown seed coat make up linkage group 1 with the probable order Pg-Na-BrP-cPf The Bpd locus
for branching peduncle was linked to Bp for brown dry pod and Dhp for pod dehiscence with the probable order
Bpd-Bp-Dhp. The third linkage group consisted of loci Crl for crinkled leaf and Pt for sessile leaf Hastate leaf
shape, Ha, and septafoliolate leaf number, Spt, belong to the fourth and fifth linkage groups, respectively
Charge Influence On Mini Black Hole's Cross Section
In this work we study the electric charge effect on the cross section
production of charged mini black holes (MBH) in accelerators. We analyze the
charged MBH solution using the {\it fat brane} approximation in the context of
the ADD model. The maximum charge-mass ratio condition for the existence of a
horizon radius is discussed. We show that the electric charge causes a decrease
in this radius and, consequently, in the cross section. This reduction is

Implementation Strategies for Interventions Aiming to Increase Participation in Mail-Out Bowel Cancer Screening Programs: A Realist Review.
Background: Bowel cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third most common cause of cancer-related death, with 1,849,518 new cases of bowel diagnosed and 880,792 deaths reported globally in 2018 alone. Survival can be improved through early detection via national mail-out bowel cancer screening programs; however, participation remains low in many countries. Behavior change is therefore required to increase participation. This realist review aims to (a) identify the behavior change techniques (BCTs) used in each intervention, (b) understand the mechanisms of action (MoAs) responsible for the BCT effectiveness, and (c) apply a behavior change model to inform how MoAs can be combined to increase screening participation. Methods: We systematically reviewed the literature for interventions aiming to increase participation in mail-out bowel cancer screening. We used a four-stage realist synthesis approach whereby (1) interventions were extracted from each study; (2) BCTs applied in each intervention were identified and coded using the BCT Taxonomy-v1; (3) the Theory and Techniques Tool was used to link BCTs to their MoA; and (4) BCTs and MoAs were categorized according to their effectiveness and what Health Action Process Approach (HAPA) stage of change they would affect. Results: We identified 68 intervention trials using 26 unique BCTs and 13 MoAs to increase participation. Sixteen BCTs and 10 MoAs were identified within the interventions that successfully increased participation rates. Interventions targeting both stages of the HAPA model had a higher success rate (80%) than those targeting one stage of change (51%). When targeting only one stage, interventions targeting the volitional stage had a higher success rate (71%) than interventions targeting only the motivational stage of change (26%). Conclusion: Importantly, this review identified a suite of BCTs and MoAs effective for increasing participation in mail-out bowel cancer screening programs. With increased participation in bowel cancer screening leading to improved survival, our findings are key to informing the improvement of policy and interventions that aim to increase screening using specific strategies at key stages of health decision-making
Near-extremal and extremal quantum-corrected two-dimensional charged black holes
We consider charged black holes within dilaton gravity with
exponential-linear dependence of action coefficients on dilaton and minimal
coupling to quantum scalar fields. This includes, in particular, CGHS and RST
black holes in the uncharged limit. For non-extremal configuration quantum
correction to the total mass, Hawking temperature, electric potential and
metric are found explicitly and shown to obey the first generalized law. We
also demonstrate that quantum-corrected extremal black holes in these theories
do exist and correspond to the classically forbidden region of parameters in
the sense that the total mass ( is a charge). We show that in
the limit (where is the Hawking temperature) the mass and
geometry of non-extremal configuration go smoothly to those of the extremal
one, except from the narrow near-horizon region. In the vicinity of the horizon
the quantum-corrected geometry (however small quantum the coupling parameter
would be) of a non-extremal configuration tends to not the
quantum-corrected extremal one but to the special branch of solutions with the
constant dilaton (2D analog of the Bertotti-Robinson metric) instead.
Meanwhile, if exactly, the near-extremal configuration tends to the
extremal one. We also consider the dilaton theory which corresponds classically
to the spherically-symmetrical reduction from 4D case and show that for the

Serologic Surveillance of Selected Viral and Bacterial Pathogens in South Carolina’s Feral Swine Population
Feral swine (Sus scrofa) are considered an invasive species that is comprised of the wild descendants of domestic swine, European wild boar, and hybrids of these two species. Feral swine were historically associated with the major river drainages in Coastal South Carolina. However, natural range expansion and human release and relocation of feral swine appear to be sources of their expansion into areas not previously occupied. Although an exact estimate of feral swine population numbers is not available, in 2006 feral swine were reported in 42 of 46 South Carolina counties, compared to 46 of 46 counties reporting feral swine activity in 2011. Feral swine can serve as reservoirs for a number of diseases including pseudorabies, swine brucellosis (Brucella spp.), porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome and porcine circovirus which may be passed to livestock and, in some cases, native wildlife and humans.
The National Wildlife Disease Program within the US Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services conducted serologic surveys for pseudorabies virus, brucellosis, porcine circovirus, and porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome virus in South Carolina feral pig populations from 2007- 2012. During that period, we opportunistically sampled and collected serum from 545 feral pigs. Overall, 111 of 544 (20.40%) animals tested positive for antibodies to pseudorabies, 87 of 545 (15.96%) animals tested positive for antibodies to brucellosis, 171 of 306 (55.88%) animals tested positive for antibodies to porcine circovirus, and seven of 312 (2.24%) animals tested positive for antibodies to porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome. Positive cases of pseudorabies and brucellosis were spatially limited to populations closely associated with the major river drainages in Coastal South Carolina. These positive cases of pseudorabies and brucellosis were found in areas of long established pig populations. The seven positive cases of porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome were limited to one geographic cluster within the Congaree and Wateree river confluence and two clusters along the PeeDee River Drainage. These clusters of seropositive cases indicate a more geographically localized distribution of porcine respiratory and reproductive syndrome. Interestingly, positive cases of porcine circovirus appeared to be evenly distributed across all sample locations in South Carolina. A more spatially and temporally consistent sampling strategy is recommended to investigate linear spread of pathogens along river drainages and throughout the feral swine population in South Carolina
Flavor from M5-branes
We study various aspects of the defect conformal field theory that arises
when placing a single M5-brane probe in AdS_4 x S^7. We derive the full set of
fluctuation modes and dimensions of the corresponding dual operators. We argue
that the latter does not depend on the presence of a non-trivial magnetic flux
on the M5-brane world-volume. Finally we give a mass to the hypermultiplet
living on the defect, and compute the resulting mesonic spectrum.Comment: 19 page
When Black Holes Meet Kaluza-Klein Bubbles
We explore the physical consequences of a recently discovered class of exact
solutions to five dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. We find a number of
surprising features including: (1) In the presence of a Kaluza-Klein bubble,
there are arbitrarily large black holes with topology S^3. (2) In the presence
of a black hole or a black string, there are expanding bubbles (with de Sitter
geometry) which never reach null infinity. (3) A bubble can hold two black
holes of arbitrary size in static equilibrium. In particular, two large black
