Human operator identification model and related computer programs
Four computer programs which provide computational assistance in the analysis of man/machine systems are reported. The programs are: (1) Modified Transfer Function Program (TF); (2) Time Varying Response Program (TVSR); (3) Optimal Simulation Program (TVOPT); and (4) Linear Identification Program (SCIDNT). The TV program converts the time domain state variable system representative to frequency domain transfer function system representation. The TVSR program computes time histories of the input/output responses of the human operator model. The TVOPT program is an optimal simulation program and is similar to TVSR in that it produces time histories of system states associated with an operator in the loop system. The differences between the two programs are presented. The SCIDNT program is an open loop identification code which operates on the simulated data from TVOPT (or TVSR) or real operator data from motion simulators

Higher-order binding corrections to the Lamb shift of 2P states
We present an improved calculation of higher-order corrections to the
one-loop self energy of 2P states in hydrogen-like systems with small nuclear
charge Z. The method is based on a division of the integration with respect to
the photon energy into a high- and a low-energy part. The high-energy part is
calculated by an expansion of the electron propagator in powers of the Coulomb
field. The low-energy part is simplified by the application of a
Foldy-Wouthuysen transformation. This transformation leads to a clear
separation of the leading contribution from the relativistic corrections and
removes higher order terms. The method is applied to the 2P_{1/2} and 2P_{3/2}
states in atomic hydrogen. The results lead to new theoretical values for the
Lamb shifts and the fine structure splitting.Comment: 18 pages, LaTeX. In comparison to the journal version, it contains an
added note (2000) which reflects the current status of Lamb shift
calculation
CosmoDM and its application to Pan-STARRS data
The Cosmology Data Management system (CosmoDM) is an automated and flexible
data management system for the processing and calibration of data from optical
photometric surveys. It is designed to run on supercomputers and to minimize
disk I/O to enable scaling to very high throughput during periods of
reprocessing. It serves as an early prototype for one element of the
ground-based processing required by the Euclid mission and will also be
employed in the preparation of ground based data needed in the eROSITA X-ray
all sky survey mission. CosmoDM consists of two main pipelines. The first is
the single-epoch or detrending pipeline, which is used to carry out the
photometric and astrometric calibration of raw exposures. The second is the co-
addition pipeline, which combines the data from individual exposures into
deeper coadd images and science ready catalogs. A novel feature of CosmoDM is
that it uses a modified stack of As- tromatic software which can read and write
tile compressed images. Since 2011, CosmoDM has been used to process data from
the DECam, the CFHT MegaCam and the Pan-STARRS cameras. In this paper we shall
describe how processed Pan-STARRS data from CosmoDM has been used to optically
confirm and measure photometric redshifts of Planck-based Sunyaev-Zeldovich
effect selected cluster candidates.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. Proceedings of Precision Astronomy with Fully

The s-process branching at 185W
The neutron capture cross section of the unstable nucleus 185W has been
derived from experimental photoactivation data of the inverse reaction
186W(gamma,n)185W. The new result of sigma = (687 +- 110) mbarn confirms the
theoretically predicted neutron capture cross section of 185W of sigma = 700
mbarn at kT = 30 keV. A neutron density in the classical s-process of n_n =
(3.8 +0.9 -0.8} * 1e8 cm-3 is derived from the new data for the 185W branching.
In a stellar s-process model one finds a significant overproduction of the
residual s-only nucleus 186Os.Comment: ApJ, in pres
Alpha Clustering and the stellar nucleosynthesis of carbon
The astrophysical S--factor and reaction rates for the triple--alpha process
are calculated in the direct--capture model. It is shown that the stellar
carbon production is extremely sensitive to small variations in the N--N
interaction.Comment: 2 pages LaTe
