Matrix Model for Dirichlet Open String

We discuss the open string ending on D $p$-branes in IKKT framework. First we determine the boundary conditions of Green-Schwarz superstring which are consistent with supersymmetry and $\kappa$-symmetry. We point out some subtleties arising from taking the Schild gauge and show that in this gauge the system incorporates the limited dimensional D $p$-branes ($p=3,7$). The matrix regularization for the Dirichlet open string is given by gauge group SO(N). When $p=3$, the matrix model becomes the dimensional reduction of a 6 dimensional ${\cal N}=1$ super Yang-Mills theory.Comment: 9 pages, LaTe

A novel polyethylene glycol (PEG)-drug conjugate of Venetoclax, a Bcl-2 inhibitor, for treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML)

Background: Venetoclax (VTX) is an anticancer drug. It is a selective Bcl-2 inhibitor that is clinically used for the treatment of patients with lymphomas and leukemias. Treatment with VTX, however, is accompanied by severe adverse events such as tumor lysis syndrome and neutropenia, because VTX readily binds to serum proteins, which results in poor pharmacokinetics and poor tumor tissue concentration. To avoid such adverse events, VTX is administered using a daily or weekly ramp-up schedule that is cumbersome in clinical situations. Aims: To overcome these shortcomings, we prepared a novel polyethylene glycol (PEG)-drug conjugate of VTX (PEG-VTX) and evaluated its cytotoxic effects on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) both in vitro and in vivo. Methods and results: VTX and 4-armed PEG derivatives were covalently attached through an amide bond linker. In a series of in vitro studies, PEG-VTX selectively induced potent growth inhibition of MV4-11 human AML cells via the inducement of Bcl-2-mediated apoptosis. PEG-VTX had the effect of free VTX, presumably due to the protease-mediated release of VTX from the conjugates. In in vivo studies with AML tumor-xenograft mice models, intravenous PEG-VTX promoted sufficient tumor growth suppression. Compared with a regimen of oral free VTX, the intravenous regimen in those studies used a VTX dosage that was 15–30 times smaller for an OCI-AML-2 xenograft model and a dosing regimen that was less frequent for an MV4-11 xenograft model. The most important development, however, was the absence of weight loss related to severe side effects throughout the treatments. An increase in water solubility and the resultant hydrodynamic size of VTX via PEGylation improved the pharmacokinetics of VTX by avoiding protein interactions and lessening the extravasation from blood. The result was an increase in tumor accumulation and a decrease in the nonspecific distribution of VTX. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that PEG-VTX could be an alternative therapeutic option for the safe and effective treatment of patients with AML

Diel Change in Family Composition of Reef Fishes

The reef fishes of Honmura Bay in Kuchierabu Island were observed for 3 days in October, using SCUBA. Family name and number of fishes were recorded along the transect lines at the following times: 0000-0030, 0500-0530, 0530-0600, 0615-0645, 1200-1230,1650-1720, 1720-1750, and 1820-1850. During the observation period the fishes of 25 families were observed. The fish community at study reef changed remarkably in families and number of specimens between day and night. According to the values of similarity index, CII, a high similarity was recognized in family compositions of the fishes observed at day times: 0615-0645, 1200-1230, 1650-1720, and 1720-1750, and at night times: 0000-0030, 0500-0530, and 1820-1850, respectively. The fishes observed at the time of 0530-0600, twilight time, were similar in family composition to those observed at the time of 1720-1750, but not to the others. The family composition of the fishes at study reef was considered to be nearly constant in the day time, and in the night time except for that between day and night. The fishes at study reef increased rapidly in number of specimens from morning twilight to dawn, and at noon. They decreased in the evening, rapidly at dusk, and before morning twilight

「つどい」について : 精神障害のある人々のエンパワーメント活動

「つどい」は、沖縄で精神障害のある当事者の人たち(以下、当事者)の活動から生まれた、オリジナルなスタイルの活動で、大きい見方をするとピア・カウンセリングの1つの形態ともいえます。筆者は、沖縄でこのつどいに数回参加させてもらう機会があり、そこで、当事者の方が自分の思いや意見を自由に発言している姿に感動を覚えました。しかしながら、この「つどい」についての解説や手順のマニュアル的なものがない現状です。この「つどい」を筆者なりに定義してみると「精神障害のある方を中心に、定期的に集まり、一定のルールに従って、決められたテーマについて、自分の気持ち・考えを自由に話し、自己のエンパワーメントを高めていく活動」といえます

長崎における精神障害者の雇用・就労の現状と課題

障害者自立支援法で就労支援が強調され、障害者雇用促進法の改正で、平成18年4月より精神障害者が雇用率に算定されるなど、精神障害者の雇用・就労を巡る動きが活発になってきている。しかし、現場の声を聞くと現実はさほど雇用・就労が進んでいないのではないかと思われ、その要因に、都市部と地方の地域格差もあると考えられる。そこで、本論文では筆者が在住する長崎県における精神障害者の雇用・就労状況を概観し、その現状と課題について論じるものである

精神障害の就労と社会的協同組合

本論文では、障害者自立支援法や障害者雇用促進法改正という状況を踏まえて精神障害者の就労を今後促進するための課題を整理するとともに、精神障害者の障害特性を考え筆者が注目している新たな就労形態として、EUが掲げる「社会的排除との闘い」の具体的実践としてイタリアでさかんな社会的協同組合B型について論及するものである

障害者就労支援とNPO法人の役割

今日、福祉分野におけるNPO法人(特定非営利活動法人)の役割は、大きくなってきている。この背景には、戦後先進諸国が政策の目標にした「福祉国家」が、財政問題や人々の価値観の変化さらに制度疲労などから、見直しがされて「福祉ミックス論」などの新たな考えや「福祉から労働へ」というポジティブ・ウェルフェア政策の導入などがなされるようになってきたことがその要因といえる。この新しい考えや政策を推進するうえで、インフォーマルサービスの担い手として、NPO法人の役割を実際のNPO法人の活動を通して、本論文は考察するものである

精神障害者の一般就労を支援していくために,地域での就業支援システムの構築が課題となっている。2002年5月に施行された改正障害者雇用促進法では,従来のあっせん型障害者雇用支援センターを発展させる形で,生活と就業の一体的支援を行う機関として就業・生活支援センターを法定化した。2002年12月現在,全国で25ヶ所の就業・生活支援センターが活動しているが,特に精神障害者の就業支援に成果を上げている紀南障害者就業・生活支援センターの活動を通して,地域での就業支援のあり方を考察する
