ECG' peculiarities and titers of anticardial antibodies (ACAB) were studied in 44 children with herpes virus infection: 63% of patients were infected by herpes virus type IV, V, VI; the rest ones - herpes virus type I,II in addition. ECG has revealed dysfunction of sinus node, conductive disturbances and changes of repolarization in 1/3 of children, 20% of patients has signs of myocardial electric instability. Part of children has increased titers of ACAB to conductive system and cardiomyocytes

Impact of growing conditions on the gum properties of different genotypes of guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.)

Galactomannan (gum), a water-soluble polysaccharide, is widely used as a gelling agent in liquids, including in the oil and gas industry for hydraulic fracturing. The most effective source of this valuable plant material is seeds of guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.), a legume crop new for Russia. Although in recent years progress has been made in the selection of guar varieties adapted to the conditions of the Russian Federation, the question of the most appropriate region for the cultivation of this crop remains open. The purpose of the study was to investigate how a region and technology of guar cultivation can affect the main indicators of the final target product: the content and viscosity of guar gum extracted from the seeds of various guar genotypes. To understand this, ecogeographical tests of 13 guar accessions from the VIR collection were conducted at the experimental stations of the Vavilov Institute (VIR), where climatic conditions correspond to the temperature requirements of the crop. To compare the properties of gum extracted from the seeds of various genotypes, a fast-tracked laboratory method was suggested allowing gum extracts to be obtained for assessing their viscosity. The method allows fast screening of the breeding material and selecting guar genotypes with beneficial properties of guar gum which are in demand by the oil industry. Applying the fast laboratory method for assessing the properties of gum in seeds of 13 guar varieties showed that the content and viscosity of gum of the same variety vary greatly depending on growing conditions. The same set of 13 guar accessions was grown in 2018 at the Volgograd, Astrakhan, Dagestan and Kuban VIR experimental stations. As a result, the maximum viscosity values were obtained for the seeds reproduced at the Astrakhan region, where the guar was grown on irrigated lands. On the other hand, the maximum gum content in the seeds of all accessions was recorded when they were grown in the Volgograd region. The results showed that the guar gum extracted from seeds of guar plants grown in the Russian Federation can be used as a gelling agent in the processes of intensification of oil production by the method of hydraulic fracturing. This experience is new to the Russian Federation

Arterial hypertension (AH) is highlighted as a complication of bronchopulmonary dys-plasia (BPD) in children. The review provides information on the incidence, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of AH in children with BPD. After analyzing the studies, were identified risk factors for hypertension in children with BPD, the role of endothelial dysfunction in raising systemic blood pressure, analyzed therapy and consequences of AH in children with BPD

The efficacy of prognosis and early diagnostics of fetal growth retardation

The fetal growth retardation takes one of  the leading places in  the structure of perinatal morbidity and mortality. The frequency of this pregnancy complication in Russia is high – from 3% to 24% among full-term infants and from 18% to 46% among premature newborns. The article analyzes the capabilities of various diagnostic methods for predicting fetal growth retardation. The more indicators are included in the review the more effective isitsreliability in the formation of risk groupsforthis pathology and more effective measures to prevent fetal growth retardation can be taken.Conflict of interest: The authors of this article confirmed the lack of conflict of interest and financial support, which should be reported

Juvenile ankylosing spondylitis: the criteria approach

Juvenile ankylosing spondylitis (UAC) is a chronic progressive disease characterized by nonspecific clinical picture at the onset and late spine involvement. The article presents a clinical case of UAC progressed with migratory pain syndrome after an upper respiratory tract infection, early-onset spine lesions and ineffective therapy by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in patient of 11 years old. The criteria approach to the diagnosis of UAC is discussed

Clinical, laboratory and instrumental characteristics of children with sydenham’s chorea

Sydenham's chorea (SC) is a major clinical criterion in acute rheumatic fever (RF). SC is a late neurological manifestation of acute rheumatic fever which occurs 1 to 6 months after pharyngeal infection with group A betahemolytic streptococci. SC is characterized by clinical symptoms: involuntary hyperkinetic movements, muscular hypotonia, hyperreflexia, gait disturbance, emotional lability. Objective: The aim of the study was to identify frequency, clinical manifestations and the treatment of SC. The study included 56 children 4-17 years old, who were hospitalized in the Morozovskaya children’s clinical city hospital in 2001-2015 with RF. Clinical history, laboratory and instrumental methods (electrocardiography, transthoracic echocardiogram, cranial computed tomography scan and/or magnetic resonance imaging, electroencephalography, electroneuromyography). The study revealed frequent errors (66%) in RF diagnosis before hospitalization. Besides chorea, the clinical manifestations of RF were: carditis (89,3%), arthritis (46,4%), erythema marginatum (10,7%), subcutaneous nodule (1,8%). The peculiarity of our study washighfrequency of chorea (42,9%). Isolated chorea wasseen in 12,5%, mixed chorea - in 30,4% of SC. The clinical manifestations of chorea were typical. The nervous system lesion most often occured in children with a neurological history (p < 0,05). The clinical or laboratory evidence of streptococcal infection were seldom found (p = 0,02) in patients withchorea (45,8%) compared with patients without chorea symptoms (69%). RF issue requires attention from the medical community. SC, especially isolated chorea (29%), is the most challenging manifestation of RF for the differential diagnosis.Chronic rheumatic heart disease can be developed even in patients with isolated chorea (12,5%). In the treatment of SC in addition antibiotics and drugs which affect domamine and GABA metabolism, glucocorticoids (Prednisolone) are needed
