To mesh or not to mesh: flexible wireless indoor communication among mobile robots in industrial environments
Mobile robots such as automated guided vehicles become increasingly important in industry as they can greatly increase efficiency. For their operation such robots must rely on wireless communication, typically realized by connecting them to an existing enterprise network. In this paper we motivate that such an approach is not always economically viable or might result in performance issues. Therefore we propose a flexible and configurable mixed architecture that leverages on mesh capabilities whenever appropriate. Through experiments on a wireless testbed for a variety of scenarios, we analyse the impact of roaming, mobility and traffic separation and demonstrate the potential of our approach
In vitro callus induction in rice (Oryza sativa L.)
In vitro callus induction from embryos of matured seeds of four rice varieties viz.,ASD 16, ADT 43, Basmati 370, Pusa Basmati and Pokkali were studied. Observations oncallus induction were carried out on six different callus induction medium having differentconcentration of 2,4-D viz., 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mg/l. The callus induction frequencyvaried from 58.33 % to 96.67 %. This study will be useful for selecting suitable callusinduction medium for callus induction
Hydrostatic pressure effect on Tc of new BiS2 based Bi4O4S3 and NdO0.5F0.5BiS2 layered superconductors
We investigate the external hydrostatic pressure effect on the
superconducting transition temperature (Tc) of new layered superconductors
Bi4O4S3 and NdO0.5F0.5BiS2. Though the Tc is found to have moderate decrease
from 4.8 K to 4.3 K (dTconset/dP = -0.28 K/GPa) for Bi4O4S3 superconductor, the
same increases from 4.6 K to 5 K (dTconset/dP = 0.44 K/GPa) upto 1.31 GPa
followed by a sudden decrease from 5 K to 4.7 K upto 1.75 GPa for
NdO0.5F0.5BiS2 superconductor. The variation of Tc in these systems may be
correlated to increase or decrease of the charge carriers in the density of
states under externally applied pressure.Comment: 3 pages text +Fig
Occurrence of Sun fishes along Tuticorin Coast
During the year 2005, four numbers of Mola
mola were encountered along the Tuticorin
Coast in Gulf of Mannar, of which three
numbers landed at Thiruvaikulam, a fishing
hamlet 15 kms north of Tuticorin, and one
specimen landed at Kayalpatnam, another
fishing village 40 km south of Tuticorin
Production of nanodrug for Bacillus cereus isolated from HIV positive patient using Mallotus philippensis
AbstractThe present investigation was aimed to synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Mallotus philippensis leaf extract and their antibacterial potential against Bacillus cereus isolated from HIV positive patient. In this, UV- Visible spectroscopy showed the high peak of absorption band at 450 nm. Based on XRD analysis, face centered cubic structure and average size of the AgNPs was around 16 nm. FTIR spectroscopy study revealed the seventeen functional groups of the AgNPs was observed. The morphology of AgNPs was spherical, oval shapes and diameter of the particle size ranges between 9 and 24 nm was measured using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In addition to these green synthesized AgNPs were found to express the higher efficacy in inhibiting the growth of Bacillus cereus (B. cereus) isolated from the HIV-positive patient
On the largest sun fish ever caught from the Indian seas
A male sun fish Masturus lanceolatus
Leonard measuring 1535 mm total length and a
maximum depth of 815 mm (Fig. 1) was caught
at a depth of 60-90 m in the drift gill net
{Paruvakd) operated off Tuticorin on 24-8-1993.
This is the second record of this species from
Indian coast and first record from Gulf of Mannar
and also the largest size of sun fish ever recorded
from Indian waters
