Towards a Roadmap for a Resource Efficient and Effective Manufacturing Industry in Sweden

The transition to a resource efficient economy that makes effective use of raw materials and energy is a multi-level dynamic process requiring a wide systems perspective. To operationalize this transition in a holistic manner, the concept of Circular Economy (CE) has been championed by major economies around the world. The idea with CE is to strive towards maximizing the utilization of products, components and materials and their embedded material value throughout the economy, generating the lowest possible amount of loss and waste in relation to the obtained value. This contribution presents the main elements for a transition roadmap towards CE in the Swedish manufacturing sector. This paper presents (i) a baseline of resource efficiency operations in Sweden and existing strategies for CE transition in the EU; (ii) outlines major areas of opportunity for the Swedish manufacturing sector to innovate and create resource efficient and effective solutions; (iii) identifies a variety of stakeholders that are required to intervene in different levels (local/regional/national/international, as well as public/private), scales and timeframes; and (iv) presents a comprehensive set of actions and policies, including monitoring and evaluation, as a direct recommendation to political and business actors in Sweden. Finally, milestones are defined and a timeframe for the roadmap is proposed

Organic broiler : from construction to sales

Ekologisk kycklingproduktion är försvinnande liten jämfört med konventionell produktion. En undersökning visar att marknad och ekonomi följt av komplexa regler är det som uppfattas som ekologisk kycklings största problem. Syftet med examensarbetet är att ge ett förslag till hur en modern produktion av ekologisk slaktkyckling kan gå till, samt var och hur den färdiga produkten kan säljas. En av de stora utmaningarna i Sverige är att det saknas långsamväxande hybrider. Sådana raser underlättar den ekologiska produktionen, där kycklingarna ska bli 81 dagar gamla innan slakt enligt KRAVs regler. Övriga problem är hälsa hos djuren då de inte får behandlas förebyggande mot sjukdomar, därför är god hygien avgörande. Ett annat problem är att få till en bra betesdrift där djuren inte för ofta kommer tillbaka till samma bete. Men även det går att lösa med stationära stall där betet delas upp i fållor där kycklingarna kommer tillbaka med knappt ett års mellanrum. I arbetet beskrivs även problemen som uppstår vid slakt. Men det har visat sig att det finns ett slakteri i Vara som, inte i dagsläget tar emot kycklingar, men säger sig kunna göra det om behovet finns. Intervjuer med handlare och restauranger visar att efterfrågan och intresse för ekologisk och dessutom närproducerad kyckling, finns. Slutsatsen är att bygga och starta upp en produktion är inte okomplicerat, men inte heller överdrivet svårt. Problemen ligger snarare i slakt- och försäljningsleden, men även där finns fungerande lösningar.Organic chicken production is negligible compared to conventional production. A survey shows that marketing and finance, followed by complex rules is what is perceived as organic chicken's biggest problem. The purpose of this study is to provide a proposal for how a modern production of organic broilers can look like, and where and how the ready product can be sold. One of the major challenges in Sweden is the lack of slow-growing hybrids. These breeds are necessary in organic production, where the chickens will be 81 days old before slaughter according to KRAV standards. The other problem is the health of the animals since they are not getting preventive treatment against disease, therefore, hygiene is crucial. Another problem is to get a good grazing where the chickens do not too often come back to the pasture. But even that can be solved with a stationary stable where the pasture is divided into pens where the chickens will come back with barely a year apart. The work also describes the problems around the slaughter. But it appears that there is a slaughterhouse in Vara, which is not in the current situation receiving chicks, but claim they can if the need exists. Interviews with retailers and restaurants, shows that the demand and interest in organic as well as locally produced chicken exists. The bottom line is, to build and start up a production is not straightforward, but not overly complex. The problem lies rather in the slaughter and marketing stages, but there are viable solutions even to this issue

Syfte: Skivbolagen har inte lyckats anpassa sig till marknadens rådande klimat. Därför vill vi analysera och ge förslag till hur de fem stora svenska skivbolagen ska kunna behålla en stark ställning inom musikbranschen, även när skivförsäljningen minskar och den digitala användningen ökar. Slutsats: För att motverka illegal fildelning måste priset på de legala alternativen sänkas samtidigt som tillgängligheten ökas. Skivbolagen måste inse att kärnprodukten är musiken och inte CD-skivan. Ett skivbolag i dag är ett i högre grad ett media/musikbolag som verkar på fler marknader
