MidiShare : a Real Time multi-tasks software module for Midi applications

International audienceThis paper introduces MidiShare, a real time software module meant for the development of Midi applications in a multi-tasks context. MidiShare brings facility in most of the fields concerned with the development of musical applications: communications management, precise time control, tasks scheduling. The originality of MidiShare lies in its capacity to deal with multiple Midi applications running at the same time. Besides, MidiShare offers some interesting possibilities, particularly the one consisting in a dynamic connection between Midi applications through internal links. MidiShare was at first designed for the Macintosh under MultiFinder, it is now available on other machines

International audienceThis work focuses on the development of a tool capable of assisting and supporting architectural design activity. We propose an evolutionary mechanism through the use of a genetic algorithm. Environmental parameters are convoked to drive the evolution. The solar passive qualities of the object under study allow the energizing evaluation. This paper deals with the interaction between verbal thinking and visual thinking through the use of this generative tool.Cette recherche porte sur le développement d'un outil d'assistance à la conception architecturale. L'outil évolutionnaire que nous proposons utilise un algorithme génétique et convoque les paramètres environnementaux pour conduire l'évolution. Ce sont les qualités solaires passives de l'objet en cours d'étude qui serviront d'évaluation énergétique. Notre propos porte ici sur l'identification des intéractions existantes entre la pensée verbale et la pensée visuelle à travers l'utilisation de cet outil génératif

Evolutionary devices are expected to support the architect in the initial phase of his work in progress and to stimulate his creativity through analogical thinking. International audienceNous présentons une approche de l'éco-conception générative des édifices dans leur environnement construit, en phase amont de conception. Quels aspects sont à privilégier, quels choix peuvent être déterminants dans cette phase, et quelle incidence ont-ils sur le bilan global et les performances à venir de l'édifice ? Enjeux, possibilités, verrous scientifiques, recherches, méthodes et outils y sont examinés, dans une approche multicritère (morphologique, énergé-tique, fonctionnelle, constructive) de la pré-conception éco-performante. ABSTRACT. We present a generative approach to the early stage eco-design of buildings within their built environment. Thinking With Computers and Fabricating With Machines

International audienceIn this paper we examine some of the main characteristics of the transformations induced by digital culture. Our argumentation is based on a triple point of view. First we reconsider the architectural form as a significant instant inside a sequence of potentialities. Second we mark the renewal of the notion of ornament and its inscription into the digital culture. Third we return to the fabrication-conception continuum and we note the abilities of tools and technologies to stimulate perceptual entities. Finally we illustrate these topics with two examples of architectural algorithmic design. Based on these examples, we will mark the links between intuition and computation and the emergence of a digital materiality
