Study on comparable Labour Market Areas
The purpose of the "Study on comparable Labour Market Areas" is to explore the possibility of a consistent statistical classification of the whole EU territory, defined on a functional basis. To be specific, the objectives are to: (1) outline the state-of-art of applied sciences in the field of LMAs; (2) compare the LMA concepts recognised and implemented in each Member State; (3) draw conclusions on relevant best practice; (4) explore the added value of a common definition for the entire EU; and (5) identify possible ways and means of harmonising LMA definitions across the EU

Mechanical characterization of additive manufactured samples from biodegradable materials
Abstract
One of the biggest challenges facing engineers and designers in the field of additive manufacturing is to constantly develop and promote new products to meet the increasingly varied and demanding needs of customers. They must also “navigate” through a wide variety of technologies and materials available in order to determine the most appropriate solution for their application. The best and easiest way to determine if a particular technology or material is right for an application is to study and understand its behavior. This paper aims to mechanical characterize 3D printed samples from biodegradable materials through tensile, bending, and impact tests but also by determining the mechanical behavior in the dynamic regime and the tribological behavior (friction coefficient and wear). For the obtained results during the tensile test were performed a statistical analysis of the technological parameters’ influence on the output parameters (tensile strength, strain, and modulus of elasticity) and it has been developed and the optimization of these ones. The studied biodegradable thermoplastics were bioFila Linen, bioFila Silk and Fiber Wood which according to the highlighted results can be used in various fields of activity and can easily replacing polymers from fossil resources such as flexible filaments, high impact polystyrene, polypropylene, polypropylene reinforced with short glass fibers, polymers reinforced with metal or wood powder.</jats:p
Évaluation de la gastrostomie précoce dans la prise en charge des tumeurs osseuses primitives malignes de l’enfant. Expérience du groupe Grand Ouest Cancer de l’Enfant (GOCE) sur 10 ans [Assessment of early gastrostomy in the treatment of primary malignant bone tumors in children. A report from the French children's oncology study Group GOCE]
International audiencePurpose. - Patients in pediatric oncology are at high risk of undernourishment, especially during intensive treatment such as malignant primary bone tumors. Many consequences of malnutrition have been highlighted, yet the nutritional care is not standardized. We evaluated the nutritional benefits and the feasibility of enteral nutrition on early gastrostomy, by comparison to other methods of nutritional support during the treatment of malignant primary bone tumor in children. Methods. - The characteristics of patients with malignant primary bone tumors have been retrospectively analyzed in Western regions of France from 2003 to 2013. The census of complications of early gastrostomy and the nutritional parameters of patients (Z-scores weight for height and height for age and body mass index) allowed the evaluation of its feasibility and effectiveness. Complications data, nutritional status and oncology treatment were also analyzed in the groups of patients who received enteral nutrition through nasogastric tube and those who did not receive it. Results. - Early gastrostomy was inserted in 58 patients, a nasogastric tube in 20 and 60 did not receive any of these two nutritional supports. Early gastrostomy is a purveyor of complications (82 for 58 patients) but they are minor and not specific (92.7%). No difference between the three groups has been demonstrated about the frequency of complications, the number of hospitalization or their duration. Early gastrostomy avoided a deterioration of the nutritional status as soon as the preoperative stage unlike the two other groups. No significant difference in survival at 4 years was found between the three groups. Conclusion. - Early gastrostomy is an effective nutritional support which does not increase complications and which does not affect the oncologic prognosis. Its psychological evaluation and nutritional impact in the long term are to be assessed on a prospective group. (C) 2017 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved
Investigation of primary immune deficiency after severe bacterial infection in children: A population-based study in western France
Investigation of primary immune deficiency after severe bacterial infection in children: A population-based study in western France
International audienceBackground: Infectious diseases are still an important cause of morbidity and mortality in high-income countries and may preferentially affect predisposed children, especially immunocompromised children. We aimed to evaluate the frequency of recommended immunological tests in children with communityonset severe bacterial infection (COSBI) admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit. We also assessed the frequency and described the typology of diagnosed primary immune deficiency (PID). Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational epidemiological study in six university hospitals in western France. All children from 1 month to 16 years of age admitted to hospital for bacterial meningitis, purpura fulminans, or meningococcal disease between August 2009 and January 2014 were included. We analyzed the frequency, type, and results of the immunological tests performed on children with meningitis, purpura fulminans, or a meningococcemia episode. Results: Among the 143 children included (144 episodes), 84 (59%) and 60 (41%) had bacterial meningitis and purpura fulminans or meningococcemia, respectively: 72 (50%) had immunological tests and 8% had a complete immunological investigation as recommended. Among the 72 children examined for PID, 11 (15%) had at least one anomaly in the immunological test results. Two children had a diagnosis of PID (one with C2 deficit and the other with C8 deficit) and seven other children had possible PID. Thus, the prevalence of a definite or possible diagnosis of PID was 12% among the children examined. Conclusion: PID is rarely investigated after COSBI. We raise awareness of the need for immunological investigations after a severe infection requiring PICU admission. (C) 2021 French Society of Pediatrics. Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.
