Helminth fauna of Lebanon lizard, Phoenicolacerta laevis (Gray, 1838), (Squamata: Lacertidae) from Southern Turkey

In the years 2010 and 2014, fifty-four samples of Phoenicolacerta laevis from eight localities in Adana (n=6) and Hatay (n=48) were collected and examined for helminth parasites. New host and locality records were recorded. As a results of present study, three species of Digenea, Sonsinotrema tacapense, Prosthodendrium chilostomum, Brachylaima sp. (metacercaria); two species of Cestoda, Oochoristica tuberculata and Mesocestoides sp. and four species of Nematoda, Skrjabinodon medinae, Spauligodon sp., Thubunaea sp. and a larva of the Ascaridiidae Ascarididae gen. sp. were reported for lizard samples. We document new host records for all of helminth species reported here. Sonsionotrema tacapense (Digenea), and Thubunaea sp. (Nematoda) are recorded for the first time from Turkey. There are, to our knowledge, no reports of helminths for P. laevis in Turkey and also from its range

A new subspecies, Ablepharus kitaibelii (Bibron & Borry, 1833) budaki n. ssp. (Sauria: Scincidae) from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

A new subspecies, Ablepharus kitaibelii budaki n. spp. that is distinguished from previously described subspecies, is recognized. Designation of A. k. budaki as a new subspecies, separate from the other subspecies, is based on the following characteristics: (a) the ventral side colouration of the trunk and tail, (b) the number of the vertical rows of scales between the masseteric and ear opening and (c) the size of the ear openings. Moreover, it is pointed out that the population of A. kitaibelii and especially the taxonomical status of A. k. chernovi in Turkey should be considered again

The herpetofauna of the Ordu-Giresun region

In this study, 17 reptile and amphibian species were recorded from 19 different localities in the Ordu-Giresun region. Of these, 3 belong to the urodelans species group, 6 belong to anurans, 4 belong to lizards and 4 belong to snakes

A new locality record of Pelias barani (Böhme et joger, 1983) from the Northeastern Anatolia

Two female individuals of Baran’s Adder species Pelias barani were recorded in Tektaş village of Pazar, Rize (Turkey). These individuals were compared with other samples in the literature, and introduced them size and scalation, color patterns, habitat structures, threats and conservation situations in this paper. © 2016 Folium Publishing Company

Advertisement and release call characteristics of the Common toad, Bufo bufo (Linnaeus, 1758), (Amphibia: Anura) from Karabük, Turkey

Advertisement calls and release calls of the common toad, Bufo bufo, from Karabük, were analysed in the current study. Advertisement calls generally consisted of consecutive pulse groups, ending with a long pulse group. Two types of release calls were observed. The first type did not have consecutive pulse groups, while the second consisted of consecutive pulse groups with final long pulse group.
