Flat pack interconnection structure simplifies modular electronic assemblies

Flat pack interconnection structure composed of stick modules simplifies modular electronic assemblies by allowing a single axis mother board. Two of the wiring planes are located in the stick module, which is the lower level of assembly, with the third wiring plane in the mother board

Integrated circuit modules can be compactly assembled into short-run complex electronic assemblies by mounting them on a Stick module. This module provides a method of high-density packaging for industrial operations that require the fabrication of compact circuitry configurations

symmetries of the Ricci tensor of static space times with maximal symmetric transverse spaces

Static space times with maximal symmetric transverse spaces are classified according to their Ricci collineations. These are investigated for non-degenerate Ricci tensor (det.(Rα)≠0det.(R_{\alpha}) \neq 0). It turns out that the only collineations admitted by these spaces can be ten, seven, six or four. Some new metrics admitting proper Ricci collineations are also investigated.Comment: 11 page

Lie and Noether symmetries of geodesic equations and collineations

The Lie symmetries of the geodesic equations in a Riemannian space are computed in terms of the special projective group and its degenerates (affine vectors, homothetic vector and Killing vectors) of the metric. The Noether symmetries of the same equations are given in terms of the homothetic and the Killing vectors of the metric. It is shown that the geodesic equations in a Riemannian space admit three linear first integrals and two quadratic first integrals. We apply the results in the case of Einstein spaces, the Schwarzschild spacetime and the Friedman Robertson Walker spacetime. In each case the Lie and the Noether symmetries are computed explicitly together with the corresponding linear and quadratic first integrals.Comment: 19 page

Taking Care of Business: A Study of the Governing of Care Choice Systems in Swedish Home Care

This study provides an account of the introduction of care choice systems into the provision of home care by Swedish municipalities. Care choice systems in elder care are at the centre of a conflict about the broader principles of the welfare state. Studying them is thus a way of revealing the outlines of this conflict. In this thesis, I show how the introduction of care choice systems changes the nature of public administration, the strategies officials deploy, and the tools they use. This helps to deepen the understanding of how quasi- market reforms transform public administration at the municipal level, while providing insight into the legal strategies used by public authorities in governing welfare. The thesis also provides new insights into how parts of the Swedish model have evolved during the last decade.Methodologically, the study is based on an in-depth empirical investigation of the roles ‘public law’ and ‘private law’ play in realizing and shaping new forms of governing. I pursue a ‘law in practice’ approach grounded in a Foucauldian methodology, combined with a theoretical discussion of the outcomes of the study. One central finding of the study is that quasi-marketization leads not to a simple deregulation of public sector services, but rather to a reconfiguration of the relationship between state and capital. This entails new ways of governing, such as contractualization and standardization, as well as a new role for public administration and bureaucracy. The legal strategies adopted by the municipalities are complex and, in general, aim at regulating the private providers through the contract almost as if they were part of the municipality, while at the same time treating the municipal provider as if it was a private company. The introduction of care choice systems has created new and specific conflicts and contradictions in the governing of home care for older persons. The municipal responsibility for the quality of elder care, the need to ensure the system has political legitimacy, and a political will to support small businesses combine to produce a situation in which public spending on welfare is channelled into the support and monitoring of businesses within the sector. To an increasing extent, public officials who’s job it is to enforce regulations and monitor private actors end up ‘taking care of business’. Crucially, this leads to a situation in which low- quality services and fraudulent behaviour cannot properly be dealt with. It is clear that, despite the great amount of work that the public authorities put into constructing, supporting, and monitoring the quasi-market, many apparent problems still remain

Exploring Personal Symbolism and Visual Metaphors through Artistic Inquiry

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on the use and implications of using symbols in personal artwork and in the art classroom. Biological, psychological, and cultural reasons for making art with visual metaphor and personal symbolism are explained. The use of symbolism and visual metaphors in the artmaking process are discussed. Through the analysis of a series of paintings created using personal symbolism, the topic is further explored and researched. Implications and uses for the art classroom are also provided

    Packaging of electronic modules

    Get PDF
Study of design approaches that are taken toward optimizing the packaging of electronic modules with respect to size, shape, component orientation, interconnections, and structural support. The study does not present a solution to specific packaging problems, but rather the factors to be considered to achieve optimum packaging designs

Teacher perceptions of change : an evaluation of the network for educator effectiveness system

    Get PDF
"May 2014."Dissertation Chair: Dr. Robert L Watson.Includes vita. The purpose of this study was to examine teachers' perceptions of change impacted by the Network for Educator Effectiveness teacher evaluation system as presented by the University of Missouri. The study gathered teachers' perceptions of the impact NEE had on their teaching, specifically noting changes in teaching practice. This information served as an evaluation of the program and will be used to guide its further development. The study was guided by the following research questions. What are teachers' perceptions of change impacted by the Network for Educator Effectiveness based on the framework presented by Kim Marshall? Specifically, what changes have been made as a result of the mini-observations, unit of instruction evaluation, professional development plan, and student survey data? Data for the study was collected through focus group interviews and surveys. The population included two small southwest school districts in Missouri that had implemented the NEE system. An interpretive analysis of data was done to make the following conclusions. The mini-observation piece has affected the most change in classroom instruction. The unit of instruction evaluation, professional development plan and student survey data have affected little change due to incomplete or improper implementation. It is recommended that the NEE system continue with further implementation to see a greater effect on change.Includes bibliographical references (pages 124-133)
