We introduced the method of the experiential learning of eyesight-screening into the area of a sense organ practice in order to research on how it could influence the students' understanding of psychology of the patients suffering from eyesight trouble and the ways of their helping the patients. As a result, we came to the conclusion that the introduction of the experiential learning by using eyemasks was quite effective in understanding patient psychology and in helping the patients psychologically. We could find out the remarkable effects in understanding the necessity of helping the patients as well as the ways to help the patients

The effects of psychiatric practicing on a prejudiced idea against mental patients.

We investigated a prejudiced idea of nursing students against mental patients before and after psychiatric practicing. On investigation we found the following facts. 1 Before psychiatric practicing, 84.1 percent of nursing students had a prejudice against mental patients. Those students thought that mental patients were fearful and could not communicate with students. 2 Afer psychiatric practicing, 48.8 percent of nursing students put prejudices. 3 After psychiatric practicing nursing students undersand that mental patients are the same as people in general

Vascular Senescence in Chronic kidney Disease; Association of Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Activated by Indoxyl Sulfate

The impact of chronic kidney disease (CKD) on the occurrence of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a major concern and this reciprocal relation is currently so called "cardio-renal syndrome". More detailed understanding in its mechanism may have a possibility to reduce the global burden of CVD. Of note, uremic toxins have been known to accumulate in the progression of CKD and play an important role for worsening renal function, on the other hand, recent studies suggest that they also negatively affect cardiovascular system. In this review, we delve into the role of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) in uremic toxicities, as highlighted in our latest work and give a new insight for the mechanism of cardio-renal syndrome

Psychosedation, as used in the field of dentistry, is intended to provide trouble-free dental care while maintaining a proper level of sedation. One drug used in psychosedation is midazolam, which is known to have a strong amnestic effect. In the current research, I sought to clarify whether the bispectral index (BIS) using EEC analysis can be used for assessment of optimal sedation in psychosedation, and what effects midazolam has on the cerebrum\u27s mechanism of memory. The subjects were 17 healthy adult volunteers. Intravenous sedation involved a single administration of 0.06mg/kg midazolam, or 6mg/kg/h propofol, administered for 5 minutes and then continuously administered for 25 minutes at 3mg/kg/h. For nitrous oxide inhalation sedation, 10-30% nitrous oxide was used. Clinical sedation and the BIS were measured in a variety of circumstances. To examine the effects of midazolam on the central nervous system, changes in brain oxygen consumption in visual memory tasks were assessed through observing changes in areas of brain activation using 3 T fMRI. With intravenous sedation using midazolam or propofol, the BIS decreased immediately after drug administration, and the BIS at which optimal sedation was clinically determined was about 65. In contrast, no decrease in the BIS was noted with nitrous oxide inhalation sedation. In observing areas of brain activation by fMRI, the oxygen consumption mainly of visual cortices in the occipital lobe increased as a result of stimulation by visual memory tasks. Regardless of the amnestic effect midazolam produced in subjects, it did not suppress activation of the visual cortices in the occipital lobe. In intravenous sedation using midazolam or propofol, the BIS is effective in determining optimal sedation, and appropriate perioperative management can be performed using the BIS. However, in nitrous oxide inhalation sedation it appears that the BIS cannot be used to monitor levels of sedation. Amnestic action by midazolam is assumed to occur not through inhibition of pathways from visual cells to visual cortices, but through inhibition of the higher central nervous system

We researched the anxiety which students had during the demonstration of taking blood samples. We assesed the anxiety of both the role of nurse and the role of patient. And we concluded as follows; 1 Students have this anxiety of both roles. However, the anxiety is greater when they take blood samples. 2 There is no correlation in their anxiety between the role of nurse and the role of patient. 3 The student who feels less uneasy can more effectively perform this procedure
