Level of Effectiveness of Professional Knowledge Skills in Communication at Collage Level in Punjab

    Get PDF
Communication skills are regarded as the heart of teaching and learning process. Communication skills are usually defined as interaction that builds connection between students and teachers to help them understand each other and promote common interests. The process of communication is envisaged as transferring of idea or skill to another person accurately and satisfactorily for effective communication we need several communication skills. The major objective of present study was to investigate effectiveness of professional knowledge skills in communication. The characteristics of the research were descriptive type. The population of the research contained following groups (i) All the heads of department of post graduate collages in the Punjab (ii) all the students learning in these collages. The sample was selected from 30 male and 30 female degree collages with rating their heads and 20 students from each collage. Questionnaires were used as research instrument for gathering information. Data were gathered tabulated, examined and considered by using indicates of appropriate illustrative mathematical techniques in the mild of the goals. Major conclusions showed quite similar views of students and principals regarding effectiveness of teaching skill and knowledge of the instructors. Major recommendations include, the teachers should be kind and willing to remove distance from teacher and taught through creating friendly atmosphere in the class. Teachers should be trained how to use instructional technology and new methods of teaching. Key words: Level of Effectiveness, Communication Skills, College Leve

Estimated Export Demand and Supply Functions for Pakistan: A Disaggregated Analysis

    Get PDF
This study estimates the impact of demand and supply side factors on the export performance of Pakistan. Using unrestricted autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model for the period 1971 to 2015, the study analyzes export performance using data both at aggregate and disaggregate levels. The study finds, firstly, that exports are elastic to changes in world income and relative export price at the aggregate level. Secondly, at a disaggregate level, only exports of manufactured goods, leather and cotton cloth are elastic with respect to world income. Similarly, demand for all export categories is inelastic to changes in relative export price. On the supply side, exports at both aggregate and disaggregate levels are significantly elastic to changes in domestic production capacity and relative price. The study concludes that demand and supply side factors are equally important in explaining the export behavior at the aggregate level, whereas at a disaggregated level, the supply side factors exercise relatively high impact on export performance

Regulation of arginine methyltransferase 3 by a Wolbachia-induced microRNA in Aedes aegypti and its effect on Wolbachia and dengue virus replication

The gram-negative endosymbiotic bacteria, Wolbachia, have been found to colonize a wide range of invertebrates, including over 40% of insect species. Best known for host reproductive manipulations, some strains of Wolbachia have been shown to reduce the host life span by about 50% and inhibit replication and transmission of dengue virus (DENV) in the mosquito vector, Aedes aegypti. The molecular mechanisms underlying these effects still are not well understood. Our previous studies showed that Wolbachia uses host microRNAs (miRNAs) to manipulate host gene expression for its efficient maintenance and limiting replication of DENV in Ae. aegypti. Protein arginine methyltransferases are structurally and functionally conserved proteins from yeast to human. In mammals, it has been reported that protein arginine methyltransferases such as PRMT1, 5 and 6 could regulate replication of different viruses. Ae. aegypti contains eight members of protein arginine methyltransferases (AaArgM1-8). Here, we show that the wMelPop strain of Wolbachia introduced into Ae. aegypti significantly induces the expression of AaArgM3. Interestingly, we found that Wolbachia uses aae-miR-2940, which is highly upregulated in Wolbachia-infected mosquitoes, to upregulate the expression of AaArgM3. Silencing of AaArgM3 in a mosquito cell line led to the inhibition of Wolbachia replication, but had no effect on the replication of DENV. These results provide further evidence that Wolbachia uses the host miRNAs to manipulate host gene expression and facilitate colonization in Ae. aegypti mosquito

Earnings Per Share Versus Cash Flow Per Share as Predictor of Dividend; Evidence from Non Financial Sector of Pakistan

This research study has compared the relative predictive power of earnings and cash flow in order to find out the best predictor of dividend. This study has used panel data techniques and the data has been collected from the balance sheet analysis of 104 KSE-100 index non-financial companies. This study has employed a linear mixed effect model approach to investigate the main problem. The two models (earnings based model and cash flow based model) have been compared by using log likelihood estimator and Akaiki information criteria (AIC). The results have shown that cash flow per share is a better predictor of dividend than earnings per share in term of log likelihood estimator and Akaiki information criteria (AIC). The results have also concluded that both earnings per share and cash flow per share have a significant relationship with dividend. The study also finds out that all the control variables including firm’s size (SIZE), leverage ratio (LR), market to book value (MBV) and liquidity ratio (LIQ) have a significant relationship with dividend. Keywords: Earning per share (EPS), Cash flow per share (CFPS), Dividend, Linear mixed effect model, Log likelihood estimator, Akaiki information Criteria (AIC) and KSE-100 inde

Brexit is a term used to explain about the departure or withdrawal of Great Britain from the European Union. Brexit is a very important political development of recent political scenario of Europe. It has its impacts on the economic and political future of both UK and EU. The UK is enjoying membership of the EU from the beginning. But in mid of 2016 a referendum was held in UK to decide whether they should remain in EU or exit. The British people decide in favor of exit with a simple majority of 51.9%. After that referendum British Prime Minister David Cameron resigned and new general elections were held in 2017. Since the referendum the UK and EU are negotiating on an exit deal and the UK is due to leave the union on 29th March 2019. It will have its dimensions and implications. There are voices rose demanding a new referendum on the issue because many British people think that the Brexit is not good for UK. There are pro EU voices in European countries who also wish UK to remain part of this community. In this descriptive study ‘impacts of Brexit on UK’ has been discussed and economic and political dimensions have been observed by the researchers
