The Effect Of Study Bibles On Bible Study
Hoehner, Matthew J. The Effect of Study Bibles on Bible Study. D. Min. MAP, Concordia Seminary—St. Louis, 2012. 170 pp.
The purpose of this project is to gain a clearer understanding of the impact study Bibles have on the application of Scripture. Along with identifying what study Bible resources are being used, this study provides greater insight into how students are using study Bibles. The process of this project begins with a theological study of the nature and function of Scripture in the context of 2 Tim. 3:10-17. The project continues to examine these theological principles of the Scriptures in the context of study Bibles. The project involves instruments to assess, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the influence study Bibles have on Bible study. The qualitative research took place primarily through the tool of naturalistic observation of students\u27 use of the study Bibles
Reading Dialogically : A Bakhtinian Approach to Interpreting Elijah
In this introduction, we will explore the great debate about the proper interpretation of textual characters within the past century, as well as the presuppositions that led to certain interpretations of textual characters. 3 We will also see how narrative-critical approaches have influenced the interpretation of Old Testament characters since Auerbach’s 1947 work. This will set the stage for showing that Mikhail Bakhtin’s dialogic approach is a valuable contribution to the great debate over how to interpret textual characters, specifically the characters found in Old Testament narratives
Use of remote sensing techniques for geological hazard surveys in vegetated urban regions
The feasibility of using aerial photography for lithologic differentiation in a heavily vegetated region is investigated using multispectral imagery obtained from LANDSAT satellite and aircraft-borne photography. Delineating and mapping of localized vegetal zones can be accomplished by the use of remote sensing because a difference in morphology and physiology results in different natural reflectances or signatures. An investigation was made to show that these local plant zones are affected by altitude, topography, weathering, and gullying; but are controlled by lithology. Therefore, maps outlining local plant zones were used as a basis for lithologic map construction
An intrinsic volume metric for the class of convex bodies in
A new intrinsic volume metric is introduced for the class of convex bodies in
. As an application, an inequality is proved for the asymptotic
best approximation of the Euclidean unit ball by arbitrarily positioned
polytopes with a restricted number of vertices under this metric. This result
improves the best known estimate, and shows that dropping the restriction that
the polytope is contained in the ball or vice versa improves the estimate by at
least a factor of dimension. The same phenomenon has already been observed in
the special cases of volume, surface area and mean width approximation of the
ball.Comment: 27 pages (revision: expanded Section 2, shorter proof of Thm. 4.2).

Maximum Surface Area Polytopes Inscribed in the Sphere
We determine the optimal placement of 5 points on the sphere so that the surface area of the convex hull of those points is maximized
Surface areas of equifacetal polytopes inscribed in the unit sphere
This article is concerned with the problem of placing seven or eight points
on the unit sphere in so that the surface area of
the convex hull of the points is maximized. In each case, the solution is given
for convex hulls with congruent isosceles or congruent equilateral triangular
facets.Comment: 13 pages, 1 table, 15 figure
