Palynostratigraphy and palynofacies of the Upper Silesian Keuper (southern Poland)
The results of the palynostratigraphical studies presented in this paper come from five boreholes Patoka 1, Czarny Las, Woźniki Śląskie K1, Kobylarz 1 and Poręba as well as from four outcrops at Lipie Śląskie, Patoka, Zawiercie and Poręba, in Upper Silesia (southern Poland). The palynostratigraphical zonation presented by Orłowska-Zwolińska (1983) for the epicontinental Upper Triassic of Poland was applied. The palynomorph spectra are marked by different preservation states, combined with the frequent occurrence of reworked specimens, probably even from Palaeozoic strata. The spore-pollen assemblage recognized in the “Chrzanów Formation” belongs to the early Carnian verrucata Subzone of the palynological longdonensis Zone. The spectrum from the Stuttgart Formation represents the Carnian astigmosus Zone. Spectra in the Patoka Marly Mudstone-Sandstone Member (Grabowa Mudstone-Carbonate Formation), with the Lisowice bone-bearing horizon, represent the middle and late Norian meyeriana b Subzone. The Rhaetian age of the bone-bearing succession in the Lisowice–Lipie Śląskie clay-pit suggested in the literature was not confirmed. The age of assemblages from the “Połomia Formation”, which overlies the Patoka Member, was not determined, owing to the poor state of miospore preservation. Moreover, three types of palynofacies were recognized as being characteristic for a fluvial channel (1), a flood plain (2), and lacustrine and playa environments (3) as well as for an undetermined milieu. Type 1 was found in the deposits of the Stuttgart Formation, the Patoka Member and the “Połomia Formation”, type 2 in the Patoka Member and the “Połomia Formation”, type 3 in the “Chrzanów Formation”, the Stuttgart Formation and the Patoka Member
Tunable coupler to fully decouple superconducting qubits
Enhancing the capabilities of superconducting quantum hardware, requires
higher gate fidelities and lower crosstalk, particularly in larger scale
devices, in which qubits are coupled to multiple neighbors. Progress towards
both of these objectives would highly benefit from the ability to fully control
all interactions between pairs of qubits. Here we propose a new coupler model
that allows to fully decouple dispersively detuned Transmon qubits from each
other, i.e. ZZ-crosstalk is completely suppressed while maintaining a maximal
localization of the qubits' computational basis states. We further reason that,
for a dispersively detuned Transmon system, this can only be the case if the
anharmonicity of the coupler is positive at the idling point. A simulation of a
40ns CZ-gate for a lumped element model suggests that achievable process
infidelity can be pushed below the limit imposed by state-of-the-art coherence
times of Transmon qubits. On the other hand, idle gates between qubits are no
longer limited by parasitic interactions. We show that our scheme can be
applied to large integrated qubit grids, where it allows to fully isolate a
pair of qubits, that undergoes a gate operation, from the rest of the chip
while simultaneously pushing the fidelity of gates to the limit set by the
coherence time of the individual qubits.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure
Pre-Interventional Kynurenine Predicts Medium-Term Outcome after Contrast Media Exposure Due to Coronary Angiography
Background/Aims: Contrast induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) remains a
serious complication of contrast media enhanced procedures like coronary
angiography. There is still a lack of established biomarkers that help to
identify patients at high risk for short and long-term complications. The aim
of the current study was to evaluate plasma kynurenine as a predictive
biomarker for CI-AKI and long-term complications, measured by the combined
endpoint "major adverse kidney events" (MAKE) up to 120 days after CM
application. Methods: In this prospective cohort study 245 patients undergoing
coronary angiography were analyzed. Blood samples were obtained at baseline,
24h and 48h after contrast media (CM) application to diagnose CI-AKI. Patients
were followed for 120 days for adverse clinical events including death, the
need for dialysis, and a doubling of plasma creatinine. Occurrence of any of
these events was summarized in the combined endpoint MAKE. Results:
Preinterventional plasma kynurenine was not associated with CI-AKI. Patients
who later developed MAKE displayed significantly increased preinterventional
plasma kynurenine levels (p<0.0001). ROC analysis revealed that
preinterventional kynurenine is highly predictive for MAKE (AUC=0.838;
p<0.0001). The optimal cutoff was found at ≥3.5 µmol/L Using this cutoff, the
Kaplan-Meier estimator demonstrated that concentrations of plasma kynurenine
≥3.5 µmol/L were significantly associated with a higher prevalence of MAKE
until follow up (p<0.0001). This association remained significant in
multivariate Cox regression models adjusted for relevant factors of long-term
renal outcome. Conclusion: Preinterventional plasma kynurenine might serve as
a highly predictive biomarker for MAKE up to 120 days after coronary
angiography
Urinary Vitamin D Binding Protein and KIM-1 Are Potent New Biomarkers of Major Adverse Renal Events in Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography
Background Vitamin-D-binding protein (VDBP) is a low molecular weight protein
that is filtered through the glomerulus as a 25-(OH) vitamin D 3/VDBP complex.
In the normal kidney VDBP is reabsorbed and catabolized by proximal tubule
epithelial cells reducing the urinary excretion to trace amounts. Acute
tubular injury is expected to result in urinary VDBP loss. The purpose of our
study was to explore the potential role of urinary VDBP as a biomarker of an
acute renal damage. Method We included 314 patients with diabetes mellitus or
mild renal impairment undergoing coronary angiography and collected blood and
urine before and 24 hours after the CM application. Patients were followed for
90 days for the composite endpoint major adverse renal events (MARE: need for
dialysis, doubling of serum creatinine after 90 days, unplanned emergency
rehospitalization or death). Results Increased urine VDBP concentration 24
hours after contrast media exposure was predictive for dialysis need (no
dialysis: 113.06 ± 299.61ng/ml, n = 303; need for dialysis: 613.07 ± 700.45
ng/ml, n = 11, Mean ± SD, p<0.001), death (no death during follow-up: 121.41 ±
324.45 ng/ml, n = 306; death during follow-up: 522.01 ± 521.86 ng/ml, n = 8;
Mean ± SD, p<0.003) and MARE (no MARE: 112.08 ± 302.00ng/ml, n = 298; MARE:
506.16 ± 624.61 ng/ml, n = 16, Mean ± SD, p<0.001) during the follow-up of 90
days after contrast media exposure. Correction of urine VDBP concentrations
for creatinine excretion confirmed its predictive value and was consistent
with increased levels of urinary Kidney Injury Molecule-1 (KIM-1) and baseline
plasma creatinine in patients with above mentioned complications. The impact
of urinary VDBP and KIM-1 on MARE was independent of known CIN risk factors
such as anemia, preexisting renal failure, preexisting heart failure, and
diabetes. Conclusions Urinary VDBP is a promising novel biomarker of major
contrast induced nephropathy-associated events 90 days after contrast media
exposure

Organische Mikrofossilien (Chlorophyta, Acritarcha, Sporae diversae, Scolecodonten) aus den Schichten des Streichengrundes, Unterdevon, im Raum Guttenberg-Kupferberg des Frankenwaldes.
Aus einer SE von Guttenberg im Frankenwald auftretenden Abfolge von bisher zur ordovizischen Randschieferserie gezählten grauen Schiefern und Tuffiten, den "Streichengrund-Schichten", wird eine reiche Assoziation organischer Mikrofossilien mit einem unterdevonisehen (Unter-Ems) Ablagerungsalter und mit aufgearbeitetem Unterordovizium (Ober-Arenig) beschrieben. Diese umfaßt 11 Arten der Chlorophyten, 44 Arten der Acritarchen - davon neu Uncillisphaera spinifurcillata 11. sp., sowie 42 Taxa der Sporae dispersae und Scolecodonten. Die somit als tektonische Schuppe innerhalb der ordovizischen Randschieferserie liegenden Streichengrund-Schichten stellen eine im Frankenwald bisher unbekannte Fazieseinheit des Unterdevon dar, die mit ihren vulkanischen Anteilen bayerische, mit ihren klastischen Anteilen thüringische Züge besitzt. Lithologische Vergleiche mit den in streichender Verlängerung nach S hin auftretenden dunklen Schiefern der stratiformen Lagerstätte von Kupferberg legen ein Unterdevon-Alter auch für diese Einheit nahe.From aseries of grey shales and tuffites, the "Streichengrund beds" whieh erop out SE of Guttenberg in the Frankenwald, a rieh assodation of organic microfossils is described. It comprises 11 species of chlorophytes, 44 species of acritarchs, including the new species Uncinisphaera spinifurcillata n. sp., 41 taxa of the Sporae dispersae, and scolecodonts. The mieroflora of the Streichengrund beds, which were considered so far to represent apart of the Ordovician Randschiefer, indicates a Lower Devonian (early Emsian) age of deposition and also contains reworked Lower Ordovician (Upper Arenigian) components. Therefore the Streichengrund beds occur within the Randschiefer as a tectonically isolated wedge. They represent a lithologie unit unknown so far in the Lower Devonian of the Frankenwald and can be considered to be a transitional fades between the vo\canically influenced Bavarian and the siliciclastic Thuringian Lower Devonian facies of the Frankenwald. Because the dark shales containing the stratiform ore deposit of Kupferberg are situated in the prolongation of a strike of and are lithologically very comparable to the Streichengrund beds, a Lower Devonian age is inferred for these deposits, too
