Statistical Mechanical Formulation and Simulation of Prime Factorization of Integers

We propose a new formulation of the problem of prime factorization of integers. With replica exchange Monte Carlo simulation, the behavior which is seemed to indicate exponential computational hardness is observed. But this formulation is expected to give a new insight into the computational complexity of this problem from a statistical mechanical point of view.Comment: 5 pages, 5figures, Proceedings of 4th YSM-SPIP (Sendai, 14-16 December 2012

Composite boson dominance in many-fermion systems

I recently proposed a method of bosonization based on the use of coherent states of fermion composites, whose validity was restricted to smooth structure functions. In the present paper I remove this limitation and derive results which hold for arbitrary interactions and structure functions. The method respects all symmetries and in particular fermion number conservation. It reproduces exactly the results of the pairing model of atomic nuclei and of the BCS model of superconductivity in the number conserving form of the quasi-chemical equilibrium theory.Comment: 5 pages, no figur

    On the Smarandache Paradox

    Get PDF
The Smarandache Paradox is a very interesting paradox of logic because it has a background common sense. However, at the same time, it gets in a contradiction with itself. Although it may appear well cohesive, a careful look on the science definition and some logic can break down this paradox showing that it exist only when we are trying to mix two different universes, where in one we have two possibilities and in the other we have only one. When we try to understand the second possibility in the universe which has only one possibility, we end in the Smarandache Paradox

"We don't Strive for Gay Parades!": The Conceptual Anorexia of Female Sexual and Bodily Rights in Beirut Analyzed from a Queer Perspective

This thesis aims to analyze female sexual and bodily rights in Lebanon from a queer perspective, focusing on issues such as space and visibility and the strategically neglecting of historical existence of female narratives, referred to as conceptual anorexia. The thesis was preceded by a field work conducted in Beirut where observations of the field and interviews with LGBTQ- and/or feminist activists constitute the main empirical data. Queer theory and methodology is permeating the thesis and identifying some core assumptions on which this thesis relies, such as the understanding of gender to be socially constructed and performed. The findings suggest that patriarchal structures and a heteronormative gaze exist even within the LGBTQ communities, which is causing internal marginalization of women and trans individuals. However, the general taboo surrounding female sexuality in Lebanon is indeed limiting women but is similarly being used as providing a somewhat opportunity to escape the heteronormative gaze. Criticizing the Western domination of queer politics, the informants of this study all strive for an Arab interpretation of queer concepts and identities
