Distortion-Memory Tradeoffs in Cache-Aided Wireless Video Delivery
Mobile network operators are considering caching as one of the strategies to
keep up with the increasing demand for high-definition wireless video
streaming. By prefetching popular content into memory at wireless access points
or end user devices, requests can be served locally, relieving strain on
expensive backhaul. In addition, using network coding allows the simultaneous
serving of distinct cache misses via common coded multicast transmissions,
resulting in significantly larger load reductions compared to those achieved
with conventional delivery schemes. However, prior work does not exploit the
properties of video and simply treats content as fixed-size files that users
would like to fully download. Our work is motivated by the fact that video can
be coded in a scalable fashion and that the decoded video quality depends on
the number of layers a user is able to receive. Using a Gaussian source model,
caching and coded delivery methods are designed to minimize the squared error
distortion at end user devices. Our work is general enough to consider
heterogeneous cache sizes and video popularity distributions.Comment: To appear in Allerton 2015 Proceedings of the 53rd annual Allerton

Evaluation of bacteriological and chemical quality of dialysis water and fluid in Isfahan, central Iran
Background: Chemical and microbial quality of water used in hemodialysis play key roles in a number of dialysisrelated complications. In order to avoid the complications and to guarantee safety and health of patients therefore, vigorous control of water quality is essential. The objective of present study was to investigate the chemical and bacteriological characteristics of water used in dialysis centers of five hospitals in Isfahan, central Iran. Methods: A total of 30 water samples from the input of dialysis purification system and dialysis water were analyzed for chemical parameters. Heterotrophic plate count and endotoxin concentration of drinking water, dialysis water and dialysis fluid of 40 machines were also monitored over a 5-month period in 2011-2012. Results: Concentration of the determined chemicals (copper, zinc, sulfate, fluoride, chloramines and free chlorine) did not exceed the recommended concentration by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) exclude lead, nitrate, aluminum and calcium. Furthermore, the magnesium; cadmium and chromium concentration exceeded the maximum level in some centers. No contamination with heterotrophic bacteria was observed in all samples, while the AMMI standard for endotoxin level in dialysis fluid (<2 EU/ml) was achieved in 95 of samples. Conclusion: Dialysis water and fluid failed to meet the all chemical and bacteriological requirements for hemodialysis. To minimize the risk of contaminants for hemodialysis patients therefore, a water quality management program including monitoring, maintenance and development of water treatment system in hemodialysis centers is extremely important. In addition, an appropriate disinfection program is needed to guarantee better control of bacterial growth and biofilm formation. © 2016, Iranian Journal of Public Health. All rights reserved
Teratogenic effects of gabapentin on the skeletal system of Balb/C mice fetuses
Objectives: To evaluate the effects of gabapentin )GBP( administration on mice fetuses. Methods: This study was carried out in Birjand University of Medical Sciences during 2008. Thirty Balb/c pregnant mice were divided randomly into 3 groups: 2 experimental groups that received 25 mg/kg )I( and 50 mg/kg )II( of GBP intraperitoneally for the first 15 days of pregnancy, and a control group that received normal saline. External observations of day 18 fetuses and skeleton double staining were performed. Results: Both experimental groups showed similar disorders that can be categorized as the following: 1( decrease of fetal body weight and increase of fetal resorption, 2( macroscopic malformations, and 3( skeletal malformations. Fetal body weights were significantly lower, and fetus resorptions were significantly higher in both treated groups compared to the control group. Macroscopic malformations included exencephaly, limbs defects, brachygnathia, vertebral column deformity, and fetuses with severe retarded growth. Skeletal malformations included delayed ossification, scoliosis, calvaria deformity, and mandibular hypoplasia. Conclusion: This study revealed that GBP can induce previously unreported severe malformations if it is used continuously during the implantation, neurulation, and organogenesis stages of pregnancy. Therefore, it is suggested that great caution should be exercised in using GBP during the early stages of pregnancy until further studies are performed to better understand these effects
Plane Cremona maps: saturation and regularity of the base ideal
One studies plane Cremona maps by focusing on the ideal theoretic and
homological properties of its homogeneous base ideal ("indeterminacy locus").
The {\em leitmotiv} driving a good deal of the work is the relation between the
base ideal and its saturation. As a preliminary one deals with the homological
features of arbitrary codimension 2 homogeneous ideals in a polynomial ring in
three variables over a field which are generated by three forms of the same
degree. The results become sharp when the saturation is not generated in low
degrees, a condition to be given a precise meaning. An implicit goal,
illustrated in low degrees, is a homological classification of plane Cremona
maps according to the respective homaloidal types. An additional piece of this
work relates the base ideal of a rational map to a few additional homogeneous
"companion" ideals, such as the integral closure, the -fat
ideal and a seemingly novel ideal defined in terms of valuations.Comment: New version only 36 pages, one typo correcte
Assessment of physical risk factors among artisans using occupational repetitive actions and Nordic questionnaire
Aims: The aims of present study is to determine the level of exposure to physical risk factors of work related repetitive movements in the upper limbs among the artisans in Isfahan, using occupational repetitive actions index and the Nordic Questionnaire.
Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the study population consisted of 94 males employed in Artisan production. The tools that be used for assessing physical ergonomic risk factors among artisans was Nordic Questionnaire and OCRA index. The different handicraft tasks and work activities included: Simple etching, embossing, reticular embossing, enameling, tiling, illumination, inlay, copper smithing and, miniature painting have been chosen for the study. The Study was carried out on the both left and right hands. The results were analyzed by statistical tests included Chi square, Kruskal Wallis and one-way variance analysis.
Results: The highest OCRA index score was related to simple etching job, and the other tasks such as embossing, copper smithing, reticular embossing, tiling, miniature painting, and illumination were in lower risk category. Our finding showed that there are a significant difference between OCRA scores of the various jobs (P value < 0.001), and also the relationship between OCRA index and the type of jobs was statistically significant (P value < 0.001). Risk level in the right hand was significantly higher than the left hand (P value < 0.001). Moreover, in both right and left hands, OCRA index was different among several types of jobs (P value < 0.001).
Conclusion: Our assessment showed that in overall there are different physical risk factors among artisans which make them susceptible to musculoskeletal disorders
