    A preliminary study of a cloth guiding mechanism for automatic sewing system

    Purpose - In the trend from mass production to mass customization, more flexible production systems are required. In the clothing field, many studies about automatization of sewing processes have been done into producing small amounts of various kinds of products. The purpose of this paper is to propose a versatile guiding mechanism of a cloth for an automatic sewing system. Design/methodology/approach - Real sewing processes were referenced for the mechanism, and curved stitch is formed holding a point on a cloth. This mechanism consists of a solenoid for holding a cloth and a roller to prevent deformation of the cloth. When a cloth is sewn with the mechanism, the trajectory of the stitch is unstable because of anisotropy of a cloth. A precise trajectory was obtained by adding a device to control the pressure of the roller for holding a cloth and keeping a tension properly applied to a cloth. Findings - It was found out that shearing property is the most related to the stability of sewing trajectory: lithe tension for guidance applied to a cloth is constant, deformation of the cloth was observed and it was the cause of unstableness of sewing trajectory. By controlling the tension for guidance applied to a cloth properly according to the direction of the cloth, precise sewing trajectory was obtained. Originality/value - There have been some studies in which sewing conditions were dynamically controlled according to the mechanical properties of a cloth.     A pilot trial of an online guided self-help cognitive behavioral therapy program for bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder in Japanese patients

    BackgroundThe purpose of this study was to develop an internet-based Guided Self-Help CBT (iGSH-CBT) for Bulimia Nervosa (BN) / Binge Eating Disorder (BED) for Japanese patients and to test its feasibility.MethodsA single-arm feasibility study. After baseline assessment, patients underwent a 16-week iGSH-CBT program, our Japanese adaption of the European-based Salut BN program. During the treatment period, weekly email support from trained counselors was provided. Evaluations were performed at baseline, after 8 weeks, at the end of the 16-week intervention, and at 2 months after treatment had ended. The primary outcome measure was the change in the weekly frequency of objective binging. Secondary outcomes were the change in the weekly frequency of objective purge episodes, responses on self-report questionnaires of the frequencies of binging and purging, psychopathological characteristics of eating disorders found on BITE, EDE-Q, EDI-2, HADS and EQ-5D, measurements of motivation, and completion of intervention (vs. dropout).ResultsParticipants were 9 female outpatients with BN (n = 5) or BED (n = 4), of whom 8 (88.9%) attended the assessment at the end of the 16-week intervention. Mean age was 28 years (SD = 7.9). Percent change of the weekly frequency of objective binging was -4.40%, and at the end of the 16-week intervention 25% of the participants had achieved symptom abstinence.ConclusionsNo adverse events were observed during the treatment period and follow-up, and the implementation and operation of the program could be performed without any major problems, confirming the feasibility of iGSH-CBT for BN and BED for Japanese patients. Although no significant change was observed in the weekly frequency of objective binging, the abstinence rate from bulimic behaviors of those who completed the assessments was 25.0% at the end of treatment, and the drop-out rate was 11.1%. iGSH-CBT may be an acceptable and possibly even a preferred method of CBT delivery for Japanese patients with BN or BED, and our Japanese adaptation of Salut BN seems feasible.Trial registrationUMIN, UMIN000031962.     The Nanokawa thrust occurs in the Jurassic accretionary complexes of the Northern Chichibu Terrain in the Ino Area, Central Shikoku. Along the thrust,greenstones and pelitic semi-schists are thrust over chaotic formations,sandstones and greenstones. The strata of the hanging wall of the thrust dip gently and are slightly folded,whereas those of the footwall dip steeply to the north. Metamorphic minerals of the greenstones of the hanging wall and footwall of the Nanokawa thrust are examined. The greenstones of the hanging wall contain alkali amphibole, alkali pyroxene, stilpnomelane and pumpellyite, and have undergone the pumpellyite-actinolite facies metamorphism. On the other hand, those of the footwall contain prehnite and pumpellyite, and have undergone the prehnite-pumpellyite facies metamorphism. The Nanokawa thrust is a large overthrust, which has a different metamorphic grade between the hanging wall and footwall. The Nanokawa thrust, which runs to the north of Shirakidani limestone body in Central Shikoku, and to the north of the Torigatayama limestone body in Middle West Shikoku, is probably a southern boundary of the Jurassic accretionary deposits which have undergone the Sambagawa Metamorphism

    Oral Treatment with Extract of Agaricus blazei Murill Enhanced Th1 Response through Intestinal Epithelial Cells and Suppressed OVA-Sensitized Allergy in Mice

    To clarify the mechanism of the antiallergic activity of Agaricus blazei Murill extract (ABME), the present paper used an in vivo allergy model and an in vitro intestinal gut model. During OVA sensitization, the serum IgE levels decreased significantly in ABME group. Interleukin (IL)-4 and -5 produced from OVA-restimulated splenocytes was significantly decreased, and anti-CD3ε/CD28 antibody treatment also reduced IL-10, -4, and -5 production and increased IFN-γ production in ABME group. These results suggest that oral administration of ABME improves Th1/Th2 balance. Moreover, a coculture system constructed of Caco-2 cells and splenocytes from OT-II mice or RAW 264.7 cells indicated that the significant increases in IFN-γ production by ABME treatment. Therefore, it was concluded that the antiallergic activity of ABME was due to the activation of macrophages by epithelial cells and the promotion of the differentiation of naïve T cells into Th1 cells in the immune

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Consolidating transcriptome data of non-human primates is essential to annotate primate genome sequences, and will facilitate research using non-human primates in the genomic era. <it>Macaca fascicularis </it>is a macaque monkey that is commonly used for biomedical and ecological research.</p> <p>Findings</p> <p>We constructed cDNA libraries of <it>Macaca fascicularis</it>, derived from tissues obtained from bone marrow, liver, pancreas, spleen, and thymus of a young male, and kidney of a young female. In total, 5'-end sequences of 56,856 clones were determined. Including the previously established cDNA libraries from brain and testis, we have isolated 112,587 cDNAs of <it>Macaca fascicularis</it>, which correspond to 56% of the curated human reference genes.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These sequences were deposited in the public sequence database as well as in-house macaque genome database <url>http://genebank.nibio.go.jp/qfbase/</url>. These data will become valuable resources for identifying functional parts of the genome of macaque monkeys in future studies.</p
