    Non-linear digital storytelling: Effect on technology utilization and writing self-efficacy

    This study aimed to investigate the effect of non-linear digital storytelling on pre-service teachers’ use of information technologies and their writing self-efficacy. It also focused on the effects of non-linear digital storytelling in education environments. Convergent parallel design, one of the mixed methods, was used in the study. The quantitative part of the study was designed with pretest-posttest control group design while the qualitative part was designed as a case study. The study group consisted of pre-service teachers enrolled in the Multimedia Design and Development course at the Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department. In the framework of the study, the pre-service teachers in the experimental group participated in the non-linear digital storytelling activity while the pre-service teachers in the control group participated in the linear digital storytelling activity. Self-Efficacy Scale for Using Communication and Information Technologies, Writing Self-Efficacy Scale, semi-structured interview form and student reflections were used to collect the data. Based on the results of the study, it was found that non-linear digital storytelling method did not significantly affect the use of information technologies and writing self-efficacy statistically. The analysis of qualitative data presented the advantages and various aspects of using the non-linear digital storytelling method in education. © 2021 Elsevier Lt

    An investigation into the opinions of pre-service teachers toward uses of digital storytelling in literacy education

    The goal of the current study was to examine the opinions of pre-service teachers about the use of digital storytelling in literacy education. This study was designed as a case study from qualitative research models. A total of 32 sophomore pre-service teachers studying at the Department of Literacy Education in the Faculty of Education in a state university during 2015-2016 academic year participated. The participants created digital stories based on the curriculum goals during the instructional technologies and material design course. The data was obtained from interviews with the students through the use of semi-structured interview forms, researcher’s field notes and students’ reflections. The obtained data were analyzed through content analysis. The results of this study indicate that digital storytelling is perceived as entertaining by pre-service teachers. Additionally, it was revealed that scenario and dubbing are of great importance in practicing digital storytelling. They also stated the importance of teaching with stories in their own profession. Another finding emerging from this study is that the participants had difficulty in using the software. Based on the findings, it can be noted that it would be beneficial to take the opinions of experts in selecting the software, optimize the technological infrastructure and refer to interdisciplinary studies.     Teacher Educators as Role Models for Technology: Pre-Service Teachers' Perceptions

    This study investigates pre-service teachers' taking teacher educators as role models in the application of technologies in education. Following the development of data collection tool, researchers implemented a pilot study with 206 senior pre-service teachers. Following the pilot study 1040 senior level pre-service teachers participated in the study during the spring semester of the 2012-2013 educational year. The research was implemented following a survey model. Factor analysis, descriptive analysis, t-test and ANOVA analyses were conducted. It was observed that pre-service teachers take teacher educators as role models regarding the application of technologies (Mean=3.89). In terms of the pre-service teachers and their tendency to view teacher educators as role models, there were no significant differences between universities and between genders. However, when viewed in terms of their separate departments, there were significant differences. The results of the study emphasize the importance of the fact that pre-service teachers take teacher educators as their role models

    Antibiotic Resistance of Gram Negative Bacteria Isolated From Urine Cultures in Our Laboratory

    In this study; we analyzed the antimicrobial susceptibility of Gram negative bacteria isolated from urine cultures in the Microbiology Laboratory of Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital from January 2006 to December 2006; retrospectively. Escherichia coli and Klebsiella species were the most frequently isolated bacteria from both outpatients and hospitalized patients. The most effective antibiotics to these bacteria were carbapenems. These results were suggested to be useful for empirical treatment of urinary system infections in our hospital

    Bu araştırma çalışanların kendilerini güçlü hissedebilmeleri için örgütlerin sahip olması gereken sosyal-yapısal özellikleri belirlemeyi hedeflemektedir. Bu maksatla sosyal-yapısal özelliklerin, yapılan işin anlamlılık düzeyi üzerine muhtemel etkileri incelenmiştir. Ayrıca işin anlamlılık düzeyinin duygusal bağlılığa yol açıp açmayacağı analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma 13 kamu üniversitesindeki 222 idari çalışan üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sonuç olarak rol belirsizliği, kaynaklara erişim ve bilgiye erişimin, yapılan işe anlam kazandıran yapısal özellikler olduğu belirlenmiştir. Buna ilaveten işini anlamlı bulan işgörenlerin kurumlarına duygusal olarak bağlandıkları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.This study aims to determine the social-structural characteristics that organizations must have in order that employees could feel themselves empowered. For this purpose, the possible effects of social-structural characteristics on the meaningfulness level of the work performed were studied. In addition, an analysis was conducted to determine whether the level of work meaningfulness might lead to affective commitment as well. The subjects of the study were 222 administrative personnel of 13 state universities. In conclusion, it was determined that the structural characteristics providing the work with meaningfulness were role ambiguity, access to resourses, and access to information. In addition, it was determined that the employees who find their work meaningful have affective commitment to their organizations

    Two nonparametric tests are proposed in testing for a general alternative under a mixed design consisting of a randomized complete block portion and a completely randomized block portion. In this paper, the proposed tests are a combination of the Doksum test, Modified Page test and Friedman test. A simulation study is conducted to estimate the powers of the tests for 4 and 5 treatment effects under a variety of different location parameters and sample sizes. We compare the performance of the tests in terms of the empirical type I error rates and power of tests. The simulation results show that at least one of the proposed test versions generally has higher power than the other tests. Finally, the usefulness of proposed tests is implemented on a real data set.Rasgele tamamlanmış blok ve tamamen rasgele bloktan oluşan bir karma tasarım altında, genel alternatifleri test etmek için iki parametrik olmayan test önerilmiştir. Bu makalede, önerilen testler Doksum testi, uyarlanmış Page testi ve Friedman testlerinin kombinasyonlarıdır. Farklı konum parametreleri ve örnek çapları altında 4 ve 5 işlem etkilerinin testlerinin güçlerini tahmin etmek için bir simülasyon çalışması yapılmıştır. Deneysel I. Tip hata oranı ve testin gücü bakımından testlerin performansları karşılaştırılmıştır. Simülasyon sonuçlarından, önerilen testlerden en az bir tanesinin diğer testlerden daha yüksek güç değerine sahip olduğu görülmüştür. Son olarak, önerilen testlerin kullanışlılığı, gerçek bir veri seti üzerinde uygulanmıştır

    The Effectiveness of STEM-Supported Inquiry-Based Learning Approach on Conceptual Understanding of 7th Graders: Force and Energy Unit

    This research examines the effectiveness of the STEM Supported Inquiry-Based Learning Approach on the conceptual understanding of 7th graders. In the study, a mixed-method design was adopted. The research was carried out with 64 students studying in a secondary school. The study used a Conceptual Understanding Test (CUT) and an Interview Form as data collection tools. Quantitative data obtained in the research were analyzed using ANCOVA and T-test. Qualitative data were proceeded by subjecting them to content and descriptive analysis. Examining the study results, STEM Supported Inquiry-Based Learning Approach increased students’ conceptual understanding in the experimental group and the Inquiry-Based Learning Approach in the control group. It was determined that the science teaching in the experimental group was more effective in the conceptual understanding of 7th graders. The students stated that the science teaching in the experimental group was fun, created excitement, made them feel happy, instilled cooperation and team spirit, and thought by doing and living. Depending on the results obtained from the research, it was implicated that STEM-supported education should be carried out by determining the engineering design process steps suitable for the middle school level

Bitcoin, eşler arası veri paylaşım ağını (Peer-to-Peer) temel alan, merkezi bir otorite tarafından kontrol edilmeyen (decentralized), kamuya açık hesap kaydı tutma özelliğine sahip (PublicLedger), temelde online ödeme yapmayı sağlayan sanal bir para birimidir. Bitcoin, kripto paraların ekonomik olarak tanınmasında temel teşkil etmiştir. Bununla birlikte günümüzde genel veya özel fonksiyonlu pek çok Bitcoin türevi (Altcoin) kripto para birimi geliştirilmiştir. Kripto paralar her geçen gün daha fazla sayıda ticari işlemde kullanılmaya başlanmıştır. Kripto paralarla yapılan işlemlerin nasıl muhasebeleştirileceğine ilişkin henüz belirgin bir düzenleme bulunmaması farklı yaklaşımları da beraberinde getirmektedir.     In vitro antibacterial-antibiofilm effect of Hypericum atomarium Boiss and chemical composition

    Treatment with plant is considered an effective option against increased antibiotic resistance. In this study antibiofilm activity of methanol (CH3OH), chloroform (CHCl3), ethyl acetate (EtOAc) and water (H2O) extracts of Hypericum atomarium Boiss. which is member of Hypericum genus was evaluated in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 and antibacterial performance against Gram (+) and Gram (-) strains and also bioactive compounds of extract were analysed using by HPLC and GC-MS. According to antibacterial activity test results the extracts were effective all Gram (+) bacteria and Gram (-) Chromobacterium violaceum (MICs ranging from 0.42 μg/ml to 4.3 mg). Inhibition effect of biofilm formation was found to be different rate in extracts (methanol-63%, chloroform-52%). The major flavonoids were detected (−)-epicatechin (2388.93 μg/ml) and (+)-catechin (788.94 μg/ml). The main phenolic acids were appeared as caffeic acid 277.34 μg/ml and chlorogenic acid 261.79 μg/ml. And according to GC results α-pinene was found main compound for three solvent extracts methanol, chloroform and ethyl acetate 67.05, 62.69, 49.28% rate respectively

    Bu çalışma ile AB ve Türk çiftçilerinin aldıkları desteklerin karşılaştırmasını yapmak amaçlanmıştır. Türkiye’de işletme başına ortalama destek 1.171 Euro iken AB25’de 5.052 Euro’dur. Türkiye’de hektar başına yapılan destek 185 Euro iken AB25’de 249 Euro’dur. Ayrıca örnek işletmeler seçilmiş ve bu işletmeler için Türkiye ve AB’de verilen destekler karşılaştırılmıştır.The aim of this study was to make a comparison of supports received with the EU and Turkish farmers. The average per farm support is 1.171 Euro in Turkey and 5.052 Euro in EU25. Per hectare support is 185 Euro in Turkey and 249 Euro in EU25. Also farms were selected as an example and given supports for these farms in Turkey and EU were compared
