Evolution of residual stresses in linear deposition wire-based cladding of Ti-6Al-4V
Neutron diffraction and curvature measurements were conducted to investigate the residual stresses associated with Plasma Transferred Arc Cladding (PTA) of Ti-6Al-4V on a substrate of the same material. The wire-feed PTA coupled with 3-axis CNC machine was used as an Additive Manufacturing (AM) technique to build parts. A combination of the process parameters was chosen to investigate their effects on residual stress evolution. Neutron Diffraction (ND) measurements of residual strains were performed on the SALSA instrument at the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), Grenoble, France. Longitudinal stresses were also inferred by using a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) and Euler-Bernoulli beam theorem. Furthermore, Optical Microscopy (OM) of the cross section of the parts was used to analyse the microstructural evolution. The results show the effect of shorter and longer ‘dwell time’ between layers on the evolution of residual stresses
Diabetic Csf1op/op Mice Lacking Macrophages Are Protected Against the Development of Delayed Gastric Emptying
Background & AimsDiabetic gastroparesis is associated with changes in interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC), neurons, and smooth muscle cells in both animal models and humans. Macrophages appear to be critical to the development of cellular damage that leads to delayed gastric emptying (GE), but the mechanisms involved are not well understood. Csf1op/op (Op/Op) mice lack biologically active Csf1 (macrophage colony stimulating factor), resulting in the absence of Csf1-dependent tissue macrophages. We used Csf1op/op mice to determine the role of macrophages in the development of delayed GE.MethodsAnimals were injected with streptozotocin to make them diabetic. GE was determined weekly. Immunohistochemistry was used to identify macrophages and ICC networks in the gastric muscular layers. Oxidative stress was measured by serum malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to measure levels of mRNA.ResultsCsf1op/op mice had normal ICC. With onset of diabetes both Csf1op/op and wild-type Csf1+/+ mice developed increased levels of oxidative stress (75.8 ± 9.1 and 41.2 ± 13.6 nmol/mL MDA, respectively). Wild-type Csf1+/+ mice developed delayed GE after the onset of diabetes (4 of 13) whereas no diabetic Csf1op/op mouse developed delayed GE (0 of 15, P = .035). The ICC were disrupted in diabetic wild-type Csf1+/+ mice with delayed GE but remained normal in diabetic Csf1op/op mice.ConclusionsCellular injury and development of delayed GE in diabetes requires the presence of muscle layer macrophages. Targeting macrophages may be an effective therapeutic option to prevent cellular damage and development of delayed GE in diabetes
Exploring the modification of Sunday hunting restrictions on wildlife management areas in South Carolina
This report examines Sunday hunting restrictions on Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) in the state of South Carolina, and what person and community level factors may promote and/or inhibit the expansion of hunting to include Sundays. Two sources of data are specifically examined in the report: (1) five listening sessions facilitated by SCDNR leadership across the state of South Carolina, and (2) a web-based questionnaire distributed through multiple channels to both hunters and non-hunters. This report provides the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) with user-feedback to make evidence based decisions regarding the management of hunting on WMAs in collaboration with partners across the state of South Carolina
Studies of the decays D^0 \rightarrow K_S^0K^-\pi^+ and D^0 \rightarrow K_S^0K^+\pi^-
The first measurements of the coherence factor R_{K_S^0K\pi} and the average
strong--phase difference \delta^{K_S^0K\pi} in D^0 \to K_S^0 K^\mp\pi^\pm
decays are reported. These parameters can be used to improve the determination
of the unitary triangle angle \gamma\ in B^- \rightarrow
decays, where is either a D^0 or a D^0-bar meson decaying to
the same final state, and also in studies of charm mixing. The measurements of
the coherence factor and strong-phase difference are made using
quantum-correlated, fully-reconstructed D^0D^0-bar pairs produced in e^+e^-
collisions at the \psi(3770) resonance. The measured values are R_{K_S^0K\pi} =
0.70 \pm 0.08 and \delta^{K_S^0K\pi} = (0.1 \pm 15.7) for an
unrestricted kinematic region and R_{K*K} = 0.94 \pm 0.12 and \delta^{K*K} =
(-16.6 \pm 18.4) for a region where the combined K_S^0 \pi^\pm
invariant mass is within 100 MeV/c^2 of the K^{*}(892)^\pm mass. These results
indicate a significant level of coherence in the decay. In addition, isobar
models are presented for the two decays, which show the dominance of the
K^*(892)^\pm resonance. The branching ratio {B}(D^0 \rightarrow
K_S^0K^+\pi^-)/{B}(D^0 \rightarrow K_S^0K^-\pi^+) is determined to be 0.592 \pm
0.044 (stat.) \pm 0.018 (syst.), which is more precise than previous
measurements.Comment: 38 pages. Version 3 updated to include the erratum information.

Updated Measurement of the Strong Phase in D0 --> K+pi- Decay Using Quantum Correlations in e+e- --> D0 D0bar at CLEO
We analyze a sample of 3 million quantum-correlated D0 D0bar pairs from 818
pb^-1 of e+e- collision data collected with the CLEO-c detector at E_cm = 3.77
GeV, to give an updated measurement of \cos\delta and a first determination of
\sin\delta, where \delta is the relative strong phase between doubly
Cabibbo-suppressed D0 --> K+pi- and Cabibbo-favored D0bar --> K+pi- decay
amplitudes. With no inputs from other experiments, we find \cos\delta = 0.81
+0.22+0.07 -0.18-0.05, \sin\delta = -0.01 +- 0.41 +- 0.04, and |\delta| = 10
+28+13 -53-0 degrees. By including external measurements of mixing parameters,
we find alternative values of \cos\delta = 1.15 +0.19+0.00 -0.17-0.08,
\sin\delta = 0.56 +0.32+0.21 -0.31-0.20, and \delta = (18 +11-17) degrees. Our
results can be used to improve the world average uncertainty on the mixing
parameter y by approximately 10%.Comment: Minor revisions, version accepted by PR
Higher-order multipole amplitudes in charmonium radiative transitions
Using 24 million decays in CLEO-c, we have searched
for higher multipole admixtures in electric-dipole-dominated radiative
transitions in charmonia. We find good agreement between our data and
theoretical predictions for magnetic quadrupole (M2) amplitudes in the
transitions and ,

performing unbinned maximum likelihood fits to full five-parameter angular
distributions, we determine the ratios and , where
the theoretical predictions are independent of the charmed quark magnetic

Integrative Genomic and Transcriptomic Profiling of Pulmonary Sarcomatoid Carcinoma Identifies Molecular Subtypes Associated With Distinct Immune Features and Clinical Outcomes
BACKGROUND: Pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) is a rare and aggressive subtype of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), characterized by the presence of epithelial and sarcoma-like components. The molecular and immune landscape of PSC has not been well defined.
METHODS: Multiomics profiling of 21 pairs of PSCs with matched normal lung tissues was performed through targeted high-depth DNA panel, whole-exome, and RNA sequencing. We describe molecular and immune features that define subgroups of PSC with disparate genomic and immunogenic features as well as distinct clinical outcomes.
RESULTS: In total, 27 canonical cancer gene mutations were identified, with
CONCLUSIONS: We provided detailed insight into the mutational landscape of PSC and identified two molecular subtypes associated with prognosis. IM-H tumors were associated with favorable recurrence-free survival and overall survival, highlighting the importance of tumor immune infiltration in the biological and clinical features of PSCs
Search for rare and forbidden decays of charm and charmed-strange mesons to final states h^+- e^-+ e^+
We have searched for flavor-changing neutral current decays and
lepton-number-violating decays of D^+ and D^+_s mesons to final states of the
form h^+- e^-+ e^+, where h is either \pi or K. We use the complete samples of
CLEO-c open-charm data, corresponding to integrated luminosities of 818 pb^-1

pairs and 602 pb^-1 at E_CM = 4.170 GeV containing 0.6 x 10^6 D^*+-_s D^-+_s
pairs. No signal is observed in any channel, and we obtain 90% confidence level
upper limits on branching fractions B(D^+ --> \pi^+ e^+ e^-) < 5.9 x 10^-6,
B(D^+ --> \pi^- e^+ e^+) K^+ e^+ e^-) < 3.0 x 10^-6,
B(D^+ --> K^- e^+ e^+) \pi^+ e^+ e^-) < 2.2 x 10^-5,
B(D^+_s --> \pi^- e^+ e^+) K^+ e^+ e^-) < 5.2 x
