Inspecting patients’ Experiential Value to build Patients Loyalty in private and public sector hospitals: An Empirical Investigation

    Get PDF
Purpose – The purpose of the study was to empirically examine the impacts of mechanic, humanic and functional clues on patient experiential value by mediating the role of patient satisfaction between the relationship of patient experiential value and patient loyalty in the context of private and public sector hospitals of Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach – By following survey design approach, the data was collected from 550 indoor and outdoor patients of private and public sector hospitals of Pakistan. Hypotheses were tested through structural equation modelling (SEM) using MPlus 7.0. Findings – Data analysis reveal that functional, humanic and mechanic clues significantly influence patient experiential value. Furthermore, it was found that patient experiential value directly and indirectly effect on patient loyalty through the mediating role of patient satisfaction. Originality/Value – Quantitative research approach was deployed in the respective study. The functional, humanic and mechanic clues are used to examine the patient experiential value that has not been discussed in the extant literature to study the patient satisfaction, and loyalty with the hospitals

This study presents the results of pre-participation musculoskeletal and cardiac screening using the Lausanne recommendations, which include a personal and family history, physical examination and electrocardiography. Cross sectional study using the Lausanne screenings and the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) recommendations carried out at Al-Ahli club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 230 male athletes participating in organised sports were included. Exclusion criteria were those under 14 or over 35 years old, females and athletes with established cardiovascular disease. Primary outcome are the results of Lausanne screening with outline of the negative, positive and false positive results and number needed to screen. Secondary outcomes include the results of musculoskeletal and neurological screening. A total of 174 (76%) athletes had a negative screening result. Fifty-four athletes (23%) underwent additional testing. Forty-seven athletes (20.4%) had false positive screening results. Seven athletes (3%) had a positive screening result and four athletes (2%) were restricted from sport. The number of athletes needed to screen to detect one lethal cardiovascular condition was 33 athletes. The Lausanne recommendations are well suited for the United Arab Emirates. The number needed to screen to detect one athlete with serious cardiovascular disease is acceptable at 33

Examining the Effects of eWOM, Trust Inclination, and Information Adoption on Purchase Intentions in an Accelerated Digital Marketing Context

The study focuses on the canvas of online information transmission that has expanded exponentially. Especially due to social media networks, consumers have been exposed to significant amounts of disinformation, misinformation and actual information. Electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on social media networks has been facilitating swift information spread. Henceforth, it has become increasingly problematic for consumers to adopt authentic information and differentiate between marketers-generated content and user-generated content. The study aims to unfold the factors that lead to the information adoption that consequently motivates consumers to purchase products and services. The research study provides a comprehensive framework to re-configure factors that lead to consumers’ purchase intentions in the digital economy. Respondents of the study were those individuals who have been buying products online. The theoretically knitted causal relationships were estimated using a structural equation modelling (SEM) technique. The results indicate that trust inclination and information adoption sequentially mediate relationships between information quality, information usefulness, perceived risk and argument quality with purchase intentions

Online information bombardment! How does eWOM on social media lead to consumer purchase intentions?

Social media networks have increased Electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM) conversations which have created numerous opportunities for online businesses. People using social media networks have been able to discuss, evaluate and argue on different products and services with their friends, family and peers. The study aimed to determine the influence of these social media conversations on the consumer purchase intentions. In this regard, Erkan and Evans' (2016) study was extended as an integrated framework of Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) and Information Adoption Model (IAM). The proposed framework was estimated using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) on AMOS. Survey method was deployed in which data from 342 respondents were taken who have been involved in online purchasing due to social media influence. The results attained affirmed the established theoretical foundations

Impact of ethnicity upon cardiovascular adaptation in competitive athletes: relevance to preparticipation screening.

    No full text
International audienceRegular participation in intensive physical exercise is associated with several structural and electrophysiological cardiac adaptations that enhance diastolic filling and facilitate a sustained increase in the cardiac output that is fundamental to athletic excellence. Such cardiac adaptations are collectively referred to as the 'Athlete's Heart' and are frequently reflected on the 12-lead ECG and imaging studies. Thorough knowledge relating to exercise-associated cardiovascular adaptation is imperative for the purposes of differentiating physiological adaptation from cardiac pathology, since an erroneous diagnosis of cardiac disease has potentially serious consequences for the athlete's physical, psychological, social and financial well-being. The majority of studies investigating the cardiovascular adaptation to exercise are based on cohorts of Caucasian athletes. However, there is mounting evidence that ethnicity is an important determinant of the objective manifestations of cardiovascular adaptation to exercise. The most pronounced paradigm of ethnically distinct cardiovascular adaptation to exercise stems from athletes of African/Afro-Caribbean descent, who exhibit a significantly higher prevalence of repolarisation anomalies and left ventricular hypertrophy, compared to Caucasian athletes; the differentiation between athlete's heart and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is particularly challenging in this ethnic group. The extrapolation of ECG and echocardiographic criteria used to diagnose potentially serious cardiac disorders in Caucasian athletes to the African/Afro-Caribbean athlete population would result in an unacceptable number of unnecessary investigations and increased risk of false disqualification from competitive sport. Accurate interpretation of the athlete's ECG and echocardiogram is crucial, particularly when one considers the continuous expansion of preparticipation screening programmes. This review attempts to highlight ethnically determined differences in cardiovascular adaptation to exercise and provides a practical guide for the interpretation of baseline investigations in athletes of diverse ethnic backgrounds
