Production of non-Abelian tensor gauge bosons. Tree amplitudes in generalized Yang-Mills theory and BCFW recursion relation
The BCFW recursion relation allows to calculate tree-level scattering
amplitudes in generalized Yang-Mills theory and, in particular, four-particle
amplitudes for the production rate of non-Abelian tensor gauge bosons of
arbitrary high spin in the fusion of two gluons. The consistency of the
calculations in different kinematical channels is fulfilled when all
dimensionless cubic coupling constants between vector bosons (gluons) and high
spin non-Abelian tensor gauge bosons are equal to the Yang-Mills coupling
constant. There are no high derivative cubic vertices in the generalized
Yang-Mills theory. The amplitudes vanish as complex deformation parameter tends
to infinity, so that there is no contribution from the contour at infinity. We
derive a generalization of the Parke-Taylor formula in the case of production
of two tensor gauge bosons of spin-s and N gluons (jets). The expression is
holomorhic in the spinor variables of the scattered particles, exactly as the
MHV gluon amplitude is, and reduces to the gluonic MHV amplitude when s=1. In
generalized Yang-Mills theory the tree level n-particle scattering amplitudes
with all positive helicities vanish, but tree amplitudes with one negative

Colocation and role of polyphosphates and alkaline phosphatase in apatite biomineralization of elasmobranch tesserae
AbstractElasmobranchs (e.g. sharks and rays), like all fishes, grow continuously throughout life. Unlike other vertebrates, their skeletons are primarily cartilaginous, comprising a hyaline cartilage-like core, stiffened by a thin outer array of mineralized, abutting and interconnected tiles called tesserae. Tesserae bear active mineralization fronts at all margins and the tesseral layer is thin enough to section without decalcifying, making this a tractable but largely unexamined system for investigating controlled apatite mineralization, while also offering a potential analog for endochondral ossification. The chemical mechanism for tesserae mineralization has not been described, but has been previously attributed to spherical precursors, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity. Here, we use a variety of techniques to elucidate the involvement of phosphorus-containing precursors in the formation of tesserae at their mineralization fronts. Using Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy and histological methods, we demonstrate that ALP activity is located with inorganic phosphate polymers (polyP) at the tessera–uncalcified cartilage interface, suggesting a potential mechanism for regulated mineralization: inorganic phosphate (Pi) can be cleaved from polyP by ALP, thus making Pi locally available for apatite biomineralization. The application of exogenous ALP to tissue cross-sections resulted in the disappearance of polyP and the appearance of Pi in uncalcified cartilage adjacent to mineralization fronts. We propose that elasmobranch skeletal cells control apatite biomineralization by biochemically controlling polyP and ALP production, placement and activity. Previous identification of polyP and ALP shown previously in mammalian calcifying cartilage supports the hypothesis that this mechanism may be a general regulating feature in the mineralization of vertebrate skeletons
A new type of lordosis and vertebral body compression in Gilthead seabream, Sparus aurata Linnaeus, 1758: aetiology, anatomy and consequences for survival
A new type of vertebral malformation is described, consisting of deformed cartilaginous neural and haemal processes and the compression and fusion of vertebral bodies. The malformation is designated as haemal vertebral compression and fusion (haemal VCF). We studied the aetiology of the malformations and described microanatomical histopathological alterations. The malformations were detected during routine quality control in one of six monitored Gilthead sea bream populations. Haemal VCF affected the posterior part of the vertebral column (haemal vertebrae). In 20% of the deformed specimens, haemal VCF was combined with lordosis. At 35dph (days post-hatching), early anatomical signs of the haemal VCF consisted of abnormal centrum mineralization, malformed cartilaginous neural and haemal processes and developing lordotic alterations. The histological examination of the deformed individuals revealed that haemal VCF is preceded by notochord abnormalities. The frequency of deformed individuals was three times higher at 35 than at 61dph (50.3% vs. 17.2%, n=157 and n=250, respectively). No signs of repair or reversion of malformations have been observed. Thus, the steep decrease in deformities in older animals suggests that haemal VCF is linked to high mortality rates. The results are discussed in respect of the possible causative factors of haemal VCF

How local government policy workers use information: An interview study and design recommendations
Most information behaviour research focuses on information seeking and stops short of looking at what people do with information after they have found it. Furthermore, the information behaviour of local government policy workers has not been widely studied. We conducted semi-structured interviews with local government policy workers from UK local authorities and local government organisations. This was with the aim of examining how these policy workers use information to prepare documents. During the interviews, we asked the policy workers to demonstrate how they extracted information from source documents and how they made use of it. We found that the document preparation process involved three key phases: (1) information management (storing and recording information retrieved online for later use), (2) writing and editing (extracting information from source material and using it to support the writing process), and (3) review and sign-off (managing an iterative process of obtaining feedback from multiple stakeholders and making amendments). We discuss key challenges the interviewees faced during each of these phases and make recommendations for the design of future digital information environments aimed at providing holistic support for local government policy workers’ information use behaviour
Transmission and Reflection in the Stadium Billiard: Time-dependent asymmetric transport
We investigate the transmission and reflection survival probabilities for the
chaotic stadium billiard with two holes placed asymmetrically. Classically,
these distributions are shown to have algebraic or exponential decays depending
on the choice of injecting hole and exact expressions are given for the first
time and confirmed numerically. As there is no reported quantum theoretical or
experimental analogue we propose a model for experimental observation of the
asymmetric transport using semiconductor nano-structures and comment on the
