Sebehodnotící metody v oblasti zlepšování kvality vysokého školství
Organizational performance is maximized when it is based on the management and sharing of knowledge within a culture of continuous learning, innovation and improvement. The methodology embodies the principle of self-evaluation or self-assessment. The higher education institutions would learn from feedback by reviewing impact of strategies and actions, trends in results and by comparing through benchmarking.
The focus of this paper is the implementation of EFQM excellence model in the higher education (HE) sector. This paper describes the specific issues in implementing the model in HE institutions, with a particular focus on the choice of self-assessment methodology. The early signs are that EFQM excellence model self-assessment can help to produce a more customer-oriented culture in HE institutions, providing that the lessons learned from the wider public sector are put into practice.Maximální výkon organizace je založen na správných zásadách managementu a sdílení získaných znalostí v rámci firemní kultury, neustálého vzdělávání a zlepšování. Teoretické metody spočívají pak v osvojení způsobu sebehodnocení. Vysokoškolské organizace dokáží uspět díky účinnému hodnocení veškerých činností a strategií organizace, sledování aktuálních trendů ve vývoji a srovnání výsledků pomocí benchmarkingu.

Implementation of process control and monitoring software with dynamic compilation in .NET technology
The paper describes robust software for monitoring and process control which was created to support control and monitoring of the experimental models have been developed within the multiunivesity projects in recent years and successfully used in the teaching fields of automation in laboratories of many universities, which we in the inter-university cooperation verified many times. The advantage of this software is usage of dynamical compilation of libraries of new devices without necessary of software upgrade and recompilation.Web of Science16116
Adjusting the input ultrasound image data and the atherosclerotic plaque detection in the carotid artery by the FOTOMNG system
Stroke is the third most frequent cause of death. Specifically, ischemic stroke accounts for the largest group of this kind of cases. Despite all the advances in medical therapeutic methods, no methods that would reliably reduce mortality from ischemic stroke have been found. Prevention is still the most significant way to combat stroke. When the frequent cause of ischemic stroke is atherosclerotic plaque in the carotid artery, its exploration can help to determine the development of the disease. These problems were very extensively discussed in October 2013 during the XVI International Neurosonology Congress in Sofia organized under the auspices of World Research Neurosonology Group, Bulgarian Neurosonology and Cerebral Hemodynamics Association. Our goal was to develop special modules for carotid artery picture processing (AVI file processing, reparation and reconstruction) and modules containing tools for automated carotid artery plaque detection; and to solve its measurement and three-dimensional modelling of the carotid artery and the plaque. New modules were implemented into the FOTOMNG system and tested on appropriate input data files, which verified their functionality and applicability.Web of Scienc
Software analysis of mining images for objects detection
The contribution is dealing with the development of the new module of robust FOTOMNG system for editing images from a video or mining
image from measurements for subsequent improvement of detection of required objects in the 2D image. The generated module allows create a final
high-quality picture by combination of multiple images with the search objects. We can combine input data according to the parameters or based on
reference frames. Correction of detected 2D objects is also part of this module. The solution is implemented into FOTOMNG system and finished
work has been tested in appropriate frames, which were validated core functionality and usability. Tests confirmed the function of each part of the
module, its accuracy and implications of integration.Web of Science181665
Advances in the development of an imaging device for plaque measurement in the area of the carotid artery
This paper describes the advances in the development and subsequent testing of an imaging device for three-dimensional ultrasound measurement of atherosclerotic plaque in the carotid artery. The embolization from the atherosclerotic carotid plaque is one of the most common causes of ischemic stroke and, therefore, we consider the measurement of the plaque as extremely important. The paper describes the proposed hardware for enhancing the standard ultrasonic probe to provide a possibility of accurate probe positioning and synchronization with the cardiac activity, allowing the precise plaque measurements that were impossible with the standard equipment. The synchronization signal is derived from the output signal of the patient monitor (electrocardiogram (ECG)), processed by a microcontroller-based system, generating the control commands for the linear motion moving the probe. The controlling algorithm synchronizes the movement with the ECG waveform to obtain clear images not disturbed by the heart activity.Web of Science28235935

Running and Physical Activity in an Air-Polluted Environment: The Biomechanical and Musculoskeletal Protocol for a Prospective Cohort Study 4HAIE (Healthy Aging in Industrial Environment—Program 4)
Far too little attention has been paid to health effects of air pollution and physical (in)activity on musculoskeletal health. The purpose of the Healthy aging in industrial environment study (4HAIE) is to investigate the potential impact of physical activity in highly polluted air on musculoskeletal health. A total of 1500 active runners and inactive controls aged 18–65 will be recruited. The sample will be recruited using quota sampling based on location (the most air-polluted region in EU and a control region), age, sex, and activity status. Participants will complete online questionnaires and undergo a two-day baseline laboratory assessment, including biomechanical, physiological, psychological testing, and magnetic resonance imaging. Throughout one-year, physical activity data will be collected through Fitbit monitors, along with data regarding the incidence of injuries, air pollution, psychological factors, and behavior collected through a custom developed mobile application. Herein, we introduce a biomechanical and musculoskeletal protocol to investigate musculoskeletal and neuro-mechanical health in this 4HAIE cohort, including a design for controlling for physiological and psychological injury factors. In the current ongoing project, we hypothesize that there will be interactions of environmental, biomechanical, physiological, and psychosocial variables and that these interactions will cause musculoskeletal diseases/protection
BIOMECHANICS IN THE 4HAIE STUDY: AIR POLLUTION AND MUSCULOSKELETAL HEALTH - AN UPDATE
The overall purpose of the 4HAIE study was to assess the influence of the interaction between air pollution and biomechanical, physiological and psychosocial factors on the incidence of injuries, health and well-being. A total of 1,500 active runners and inactive controls aged 18-65 will be recruited. Herein, we describe the biomechanical study design with data examples to investigate musculoskeletal and neuro-mechanics health in different air quality regions

This contribution describes information systems architectures developed at the Department of Control Systems and Instrumentation, VŠB-TU Ostrava during the last fifteen years. Most of them are focused on supporting the teachnig process and related information systems, like Department Accountancy Information System, Technical Conference Information System, Publications Record System, Subject Context Registration and Thesis Registration. Specialised software systems had to be developed to solve data distribution, synchronization and backup for the reason of a very comlicated network structure
