Maturation of Moristel in Different Vineyards: Amino Acid and Aroma Composition of Mistelles and Wines with Particular Emphasis in Strecker Aldehydes

The aim of this article was to assess the influence of the harvest date on the composition of amino acids and derived aromatic compounds in grape-mistelle and wine of the Moristel variety, in different vineyards. Two vineyards were sampled in 2016 and another one in 2017. At each sampling point, grapes were collected, destemmed, crushed and divided into four aliquots. The first three were fermented, and the latter was treated with ethanol, to produce 1-week macerates containing 15% ethanol (v/v)-mistelles. Overall, 10 mistelles and 33 wines were produced. Amino acids, Strecker aldehydes and aroma compounds were analysed. Amino acid profiles are characteristic of the vineyard and level of ripeness, converging with maturation. In fermentation, major amino acids, except proline, are consumed at a relatively fixed and specific tax, while consumption of 13 amino acids is determined by the ratios of alanine, glutamic acid, serine and threonine, with γ-aminobutyric acid. After fermentation, amino acid precursors to Strecker aldehydes are maxima in unripe and overripe samples, while Strecker aldehydes are maxima in unripe wines. No direct correlations between precursor amino acids in mistelle and aromatic compounds in wine have been found. Nevertheless, must amino acid profiles could determine wine aroma composition

Uranian Poetry: the Homosocial and Homoerotic Paradox.

The following dissertation aims at shedding some light onto a group of 19th and 20th century poets known as "Uranians" who praised "boy-love" and male aesthetics as sources of inspiration and devotion. The extensiveness of the group makes it difficult to classify them in a precise taxonomy, as different catalogues share a plethora of names and a thorough study on the subject gradually uncovers more unknown members of the group. Most of their inspiration was drawn from the past, as they praised the classical Hellenic lifestyle and aesthetics, for instance, supporting their pupil-tutor dynamics with Plato's Symposium. Interestingly, they are a group who actively displayed homosexuality in their texts in times when it was criminalized. My dissertation proposes a dichotomization of themes in these authors' body of work between homosociality and homoeroticism. More precisely, my theoretical frameworks mainly rely on Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick's theories on homosociality and Edward Prime-Stevenson’s concept of "Hellenic love" as found in a variety of poems which range from formal sonnets, free verse and elegies, just to name a few. Likewise, my work aims at giving them some recognition in the literary sphere as other examples, although problematic, of queer literature, displaying male-to-male relations whilst poetically depicting them with references to Greek culture as well as aesthetically pleasing themes and motifs.El objetivo del presente trabajo es arrojar luz sobre un grupo de poetas de los siglos XIX y XX denominados “Uranianistas” quienes alababan las estéticas masculinas del “amor por la juventud” como fuentes de inspiración y devoción. La amplitud del grupo hace difícil clasificarlos bajo una taxonomía precisa, puesto que existen diferentes catálogos que muestran una plétora de nombres y un exhaustivo estudio en la materia revela progresivamente más miembros desconocidos del grupo. La ya mencionada inspiración proviene del pasado, ya que alababan el estilo de vida Helénico y su estética, por ejemplo, respaldando sus dinámicas de profesor-alumno usando El Banquete de Platón. Curiosamente, son un grupo que de forma activa demostraban su homosexualidad por medio de sus textos en tiempos en los que esta era ilegal. Mi trabajo propone una dicotomía de sus temas entre la homosocialidad y el homoerotismo. Para ello mis argumentos teóricos se basan principalmente en las teorías de Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick sobre la homosocialidad y el concepto de “Amor Helénico” de Edward Prime-Stevenson en un número de poemas que varían entre sonetos formales, verso libre y elegías. Asimismo, mi trabajo busca darles un reconocimiento en la esfera literaria siendo otros ejemplos, aunque problemáticos, de literatura queer, describiendo relaciones entre hombres a la vez que usan un lenguaje poético con referencias tanto a la cultura griega como temas atractivos estéticamente. <br /

Power Systems Monitoring and Control using Telecom Network Management Standards

Historically, different solutions have been developed for power systems control and telecommunications network management environments. The former was characterized by proprietary solutions, while the latter has been involved for years in a strong standardization process guided by criteria of openness. Today, power systems control standardization is in progress, but it is at an early stage compared to the telecommunications management area, especially in terms of information modeling. Today, control equipment tends to exhibit more computational power, and communication lines have increased their performance. These trends hint at some conceptual convergence between power systems and telecommunications networks from a management perspective. This convergence leads us to suggest the application of well-established telecommunications management standards for power systems control. This paper shows that this is a real medium-to-long term possibility

Deployment of Digital Video and Audio Over Electrical SCADA Networks

With the arrival of new hardware and software technologies, supervisory control and data acquisition human-machine interfaces (SCADA/HMI), usually text-based, can now benefit from the advantages the inclusion of multimedia information brings. However, due to the special requirements imposed by such systems, integrating audio and video data into the SCADA interfaces is not a trivial task. Del burdel al emporio cinematográfico: el papel fundamental, olvidado, principal y pionero del soldado español Antonio Ramos Espejo en el nacimiento del cine chino

Antonio Ramos Espejo (Alhama de Granada, Granada, 1878 – Madrid, 1944) fue uno de los principales pioneros españoles del cine y uno de los pioneros principales del cine chino, no sólo en el ámbito de la exhibición cinematográfica, también como promotor de algunas de las primeras películas chinas y como distribuidor durante décadas en todo el país. Por lo demás, junto al también español Ramón Ramos, dominó el mundo del vodevil en Extremo Oriente en la primera década del siglo XX a través de su empresa Ramos Bros., también llamada Ramos & Ramos. Tras encargarse de las primeras proyecciones y filmaciones del cinematógrafo en Manila, todavía como soldado del ejército español destinado a frenar las revueltas independentistas filipinas, se trasladó a Shanghái, desde donde controlaría el despertar del cine en China en conjunción con su socio Ramón Ramos, a cargo este de las colonias extranjeras del sur del país, Hong Kong y Macao. Este trabajo traza una biografía de Antonio Ramos Espejo centrándose ante todo en su prolongada etapa como empresario cinematográfico en China en un intento de dibujar en paralelo un novedoso panorama del cine chino de los orígenes a través de las actividades, sepultadas por el olvido y políticas historiográficas marcadas por un obstinado nacionalismo y consideraciones ideológicas alejadas de lo cinematográfico o lo científico, de varios cineastas y empresarios extranjeros de los que se dará cuenta en capítulos específicos. Junto a Ramos Espejo y su socio en la Ramos & Ramos, se hablará en detalle de la labor en las primeras décadas del cine chino de Bernardo Goldenberg, Saville Hertzberg, Amerigo Enrico Lauro y Benjamin Brodsky. Surgirá en consecuencia un esbozo insólito de la génesis del cine en el país, una ilustración efectiva de los hechos que derivará en un análisis implícito y, en lo necesario, explicitado de las contingencias, las necesidades, las causas y las consecuencias de la llegada del cine a la China y a lo chino..

Dislocation Dynamics in Non-conves Domains using Finite Elements with Embedded Discontinuities

The standard strategy developed by Van der Giessen and Needleman (1995 Modelling Simul. Mater. Sci. Eng. 3 689) to simulate dislocation dynamics in two-dimensional finite domains was modified to account for the effect of dislocations leaving the crystal through a free surface in the case of arbitrary non-convex domains. The new approach incorporates the displacement jumps across the slip segments of the dislocations that have exited the crystal within the finite element analysis carried out to compute the image stresses on the dislocations due to the finite boundaries. This is done in a simple computationally efficient way by embedding the discontinuities in the finite element solution, a strategy often used in the numerical simulation of crack propagation in solids. Two academic examples are presented to validate and demonstrate the extended model and its implementation within a finite element program is detailed in the appendix
