Using lexical chains for keyword extraction

In this paper, the problem of automatic extraction of keywords from documents is treated as a supervised learning task. A lexical chain holds a set of semantically related words of a text and it can be said that a lexical chain represents the semantic content of a portion of the text. Although lexical chains have been extensively used in text summarization, their usage for keyword extraction problem has not been fully investigated. Is neck circumference measurement an indicator for abdominal obesity? A pilot study on Turkish Adults
Background: Neck circumference (NC) measurement is one of the simple screening measurements which can be used as an index of upper body fat distribution to identify obesity.Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between neck circumferences and obesity.Methods:A total 411 volunteer adults participated in this study (174 men, 237 women). A questionnaire which consisted of anthropometric measurements and demographic features was used. Patients with NC ≥37 cm for men and ≥34 cm for women require evaluation of overweight status.Results: The percentages of the men and women with BMI ≥ 25kg/m2 were 55.2% and 27.0% respectively and with high neck circumferences were 85.1% and 38.8%, respectively. The percentages of the men and women with high waist circumference were 31.6% and 79.3%, respectively. In both gender there were positive significant correlations between neck circumference, body weight (men, r=0.576; women, r=0.702; p=0.000), waist circumferences (men, r=0.593; women r=0.667; p=0.000), hip circumferences (men, r=0.568; women, r=0.617; p=0.000) and BMI (men, r=0.587; women, r=0.688; p=0.000).Conclusions: This study indicates that NC was associated with body weight, BMI, waist and hip circumferences and waist/hip ratio for men and women. A significant association was found between NC and conventional overweight and obesity indexes. NC was associated with waist/hip ratio for men and women.Key words: Neck circumference, obesity
Anti-cancer efficiency of natural killer cells differentiated from human adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells and transfected with miRNA150
Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of miR150 transfection on NK-like cells differentiated from adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs). Methods: NK-like cells were differentiated from AD-MSCs and activated by miR150 transfection. Transfected/non-transfected NK-like cells were characterized by immunohistochemical and RTPCR analyzes. Apoptotic efficiency of the transfected/non-transfected NK-like cells on pancreatic cancer cells PANC1 were determined by TUNEL and RT-PCR. Results: In miR150-transfected cells, the increased expression of NK cell-specific genes such as GZMB, KIR2DL2, CD16, CD56, NKG2D, NKp46 and increased immunoreactivity of NK cell-specific surface marker CD314 (NKG2D) were evident. TUNEL assays showed that NK-like cells with/without transfection induced apoptosis in PANC1 cells in the same manner. The decrease in oncogene expression and the increase in the tumor suppressor gene expression in PANC1 cells upon co-culture with NK-like cells differentiated from AD-MSCs were more prominent following miRNA150 transfection. Conclusion: It was shown in vitro that NK-like cells could be obtained by differentiation from AD-MSCs and their efficiency could be increased via miR150 transfection. The results are encouraging for further clinical studies in improvement of immunotherapeutic approaches for cancer therapy
Possible evolution of dim radio quiet neutron star 1E 1207.4-5209 based on a B-decay model
Dim radio-quiet neutron star (DRQNS) 1E 1207.4-5209 is one of the most
heavily examined isolated neutron stars. Wide absorption lines were observed in
its spectrum obtained by both XMM-Newton and Chandra X-ray satellites. These
absorption lines can be interpreted as a principal frequency centered at 0.7
keV and its harmonics at 1.4, 2.1 and possibly 2.8 keV. The principal line can
be formed by resonant proton cyclotron scattering leading to a magnetic field
which is two orders of magnitude larger than the perpendicular component of the
surface dipole magnetic field (B) found from the rotation period (P) and the
time rate of change in the rotation period (\.{P}) of 1E 1207.4-5209. Besides,
age of the supernova remnant (SNR) G296.5+10.0 which is physically connected to
1E 1207.4-5209 is two orders of magnitude smaller than the characteristic age
(=P/2\.{P}) of the neutron star. These huge differences between the
magnetic field values and the ages can be explained based on a B-decay model.
If the decay is assumed to be exponential, the characteristic decay time turns
out to be several thousand years which is three orders of magnitude smaller
than the characteristic decay time of radio pulsars represented in an earlier
work. The lack of detection of radio emission from DRQNSs and the lack of point
sources and pulsar wind nebulae in most of the observed SNRs can also be partly
explained by such a very rapid exponential decay. The large difference between
the characteristic decay times of DRQNSs and radio pulsars must be related to
the differences in the magnetic fields, equation of states and masses of these

Cover coefficient-based multi-document summarization
In this paper we present a generic, language independent multi-document summarization system forming extracts using the cover coefficient concept. Cover Coefficient-based Summarizer (CCS) uses similarity between sentences to determine representative sentences. Experiments indicate that CCS is an efficient algorithm that is able to generate quality summaries online. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2009

In the present paper we prove that the nilpotent length of the group G is equal to the maximum of the nilpotent lengths of the subgroups CG(α) and CG(β)

Lexical cohesion based topic modeling for summarization
In this paper, we attack the problem of forming extracts for text summarization. Forming extracts involves selecting the most representative and significant sentences from the text. Our method takes advantage of the lexical cohesion structure in the text in order to evaluate significance of sentences. Lexical chains have been used in summarization research to analyze the lexical cohesion structure and represent topics in a text. Our algorithm represents topics by sets of co-located lexical chains to take advantage of more lexical cohesion clues. Our algorithm segments the text with respect to each topic and finds the most important topic segments. Our summarization algorithm has achieved better results, compared to some other lexical chain based algorithms. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg
Planetary migration in evolving planetesimals discs
In the current paper, we further improved the model for the migration of
planets introduced in Del Popolo et al. (2001) and extended to time-dependent
planetesimal accretion disks in Del Popolo and Eksi (2002). In the current
study, the assumption of Del Popolo and Eksi (2002), that the surface density
in planetesimals is proportional to that of gas, is released. In order to
obtain the evolution of planetesimal density, we use a method developed in
Stepinski and Valageas (1997) which is able to simultaneously follow the
evolution of gas and solid particles for up to 10^7 yrs. Then, the disk model
is coupled to migration model introduced in Del Popolo et al. (2001) in order
to obtain the migration rate of the planet in the planetesimal. We find that
the properties of solids known to exist in protoplanetary systems, together
with reasonable density profiles for the disk, lead to a characteristic radius
in the range 0.03-0.2 AU for the final semi-major axis of the giant planet.Comment: IJMP A in prin
