UNIETD – Assessment of Third Party Data as Information Source for Drivers and Road Operators
The paper deals with the assessment of third party data such as crowd sourced/social media and floating vehicle data as information source for road operators in addition to traditional infrastructure-based techniques. For purposes of quality assessment of different types of data and available ground truths existing test/evaluation methodologies have been assessed. A new methodology has been designed for assessment of speeds and travel times using normalized (between 0 and 1) quality indicators that can distinguish between “detection rate” and “false alarm rate” concepts. In terms of harvesting social media the relevance of social media content has been assessed against a range of traffic management requirements. Furthermore the level of content that will be available has been estimated as well as commercial sources and business models for road authorities. Analyses cover unstructured data from Twitter and Facebook both historical data and three months of contemporary data. In addition surveys are conducted in England and Austria to retrieve information from the public in terms of which social media platforms are commonly used to share information about traffic related incidents
The Type IIP SN 2007od in UGC 12846: from a bright maximum to dust formation in the nebular phase
Ultraviolet (UV), optical and near infrared (NIR) observations of the type
IIP supernova (SN) 2007od are presented, covering from the maximum light to the
late phase, allowing to investigate in detail different physical phenomena in
the expanding ejecta. These data turn this object into one of the most peculiar
IIP ever studied. The early light curve of SN 2007od is similar to that of a
bright IIPs with a short plateau, a bright peak (MV = -18 mag), but a very
faint optical light curve at late time. However, with the inclusion of mid
infrared (MIR) observations during the radioactive decay we have estimate a
M(56Ni) ~ 2\times10^-2 M\odot. Modeling the bolometric light curve, ejecta
expansion velocities and black-body temperature, we estimate a total ejected
mass was 5 - 7.5 M\odot with a kinetic energy of at least 0.5 \times 10^51 erg.
The early spectra reveal a boxy H{\alpha} profile and high velocities features
of the Balmer series that suggest interaction between the ejecta and a close
circum-stellar matter (CSM). SN 2007od may be, therefore, an intermediate case
between a Type IIn SN and a typical Type IIP SN. Also late spectra show a clear
evidence of CSM and the presence of dust formed inside the ejecta. The episodes
of mass loss short before explosion, the bright plateau, along with the
relatively small amount of 56Ni and the faint [O I] observed in the nebular
spectra are consistent with a super-asympthotic giant branch (super-AGB)
progenitor (M~9.7 - 11 M\odot).Comment: V2, some test added and three figures changed from the first version.

Higher yogurt intake is associated with lower blood pressure in hypertensive individuals: Cross-sectional findings from the Maine–Syracuse longitudinal study
Associations between fermented dairy products and blood pressure are unclear. The current study therefore examined the association between yogurt and blood pressure in hypertensive and non-hypertensive individuals. Cross-sectional analyses were undertaken on 915 community-dwelling adults from the Maine-Syracuse Longitudinal Study. Habitual yogurt consumption was measured using a food frequency questionnaire. The primary outcomes were systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean arterial pressure (MAP), and pulse pressure. Secondary outcomes included BMI (kg m-2), total cholesterol (mg dL-1), glucose (mg dL-1), HDL (mg dL-1), LDL (mg dL-1), triglycerides (mg dL-1), and plasma homocysteine (μmol L-1). Multivariable regression analyses revealed significant inverse associations between yogurt and both SBP (p \u3c 0.05) and MAP (p \u3c 0.05) in hypertensive (n = 564) but not non-hypertensive participants (n = 351). Future observational and intervention studies should continue to focus on at-risk individuals to examine the potential benefits of yogurt
Moderately Luminous type II Supernovae
Core-collapse Supernovae (CC-SNe) descend from progenitors more massive than
about 8 Msun. Because of the young age of the progenitors, the ejecta may
eventually interact with the circumstellar medium (CSM) via highly energetic
processes detectable in the radio, X-ray, ultraviolet (UV) and, sometimes, in
the optical domains. In this paper we present ultraviolet, optical and near
infrared observations of five type II SNe, namely SNe 2009dd, 2007pk, 2010aj,
1995ad, and 1996W. Together with few other SNe they form a group of moderately
luminous type II events. We collected photometry and spectroscopy with several
telescopes in order to construct well-sampled light curves and spectral
evolutions from the photospheric to the nebular phases. Both photometry and
spectroscopy indicate a degree of heterogeneity in this sample. The light
curves have luminous peak magnitudes (). The ejected
masses of ^56\ni for three SNe span a wide range of values
(MsunM(\ni)Msun), while for a fourth
(SN2010aj) we could determine a stringent upper limit (Msun).
Clues of interaction, such as the presence of high velocity (HV) features of
the Balmer lines, are visible in the photospheric spectra of SNe 2009dd and
1996W. For SN2007pk we observe a spectral transition from a type IIn to a
standard type II SN. Modelling the observations of SNe 2009dd, 2010aj and
1995ad with radiation hydrodynamics codes, we infer kinetic plus thermal
energies of about 0.2-0.5 foe, initial radii of 2-5 cm and
ejected masses of 5.0-9.5 Msun. These values suggest moderate-mass,
super-asymptotic giant branch (SAGB) or red super-giants (RSG) stars as SN
precursors, in analogy with other luminous type IIP SNe 2007od and 2009bw.Comment: 28 pages, 27 fig, accepted by A&A, 3 pages of online material,

Interacting supernovae and supernova impostors. SN 2007sv: the major eruption of a massive star in UGC 5979
We report the results of the photometric and spectroscopic monitoring
campaign of the transient SN 2007sv. The observables are similar to those of
type IIn supernovae, a well-known class of objects whose ejecta interact with
pre-existing circum-stellar material. The spectra show a blue continuum at
early phases and prominent Balmer lines in emission, however, the absolute
magnitude at the discovery of SN 2007sv (M_R = - 14.25 +/- 0.38) indicate it to
be most likely a supernova impostor. This classification is also supported by
the lack of evidence in the spectra of very high velocity material as expected
in supernova ejecta. In addition we find no unequivocal evidence of broad lines
of alpha - and/or Fe-peak elements. The comparison with the absolute light
curves of other interacting objects (including type IIn supernovae) highlights
the overall similarity with the prototypical impostor SN 1997bs. This supports
our claim that SN 2007sv was not a genuine supernova, and was instead a
supernova impostor, most likely similar to the major eruption of a luminous
blue variable.Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. 15 pages, 11 figures, 5 table
Re-theorizing the “Structure–Agency” Relationship: Figurational Theory, Organizational Change and the Gaelic Athletic Association
This article illustrates how the figurational sociology associated with Norbert Elias provides an alternative theoretical framework for explaining the relationship between, ‘individualorganization- society’ and organizational change, and in so doing transverses what is conceived as a false dichotomy between structure and agency. Through an historical case study of the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland, the ‘individual-organization-society’ relationship is conceptualized as overlapping figurations and organizational change is explained as figurational dynamics—the shifting social interdependencies between the individuals and groups comprising an organization, between that organization and other organizations, between social groups on a higher level of integration and competition. In tandem with this, the article illustrates how changes in the sources of power and identity are connected with these figurational dynamics
Adherence to a Mediterranean diet associated with lower blood pressure in a US sample: Findings from the Maine- Syracuse Longitudinal Study
Hypertension is a key modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease. The Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) may be associated with improvements in blood pressure. However, few studies have examined the association between MedDiet adherence and blood pressure in non-Mediterranean populations, and findings are mixed. We analyzed cross-sectional data (Wave 6) for 851 participants of the Maine-Syracuse Longitudinal Study. MedDiet adherence was calculated using food frequency questionnaire data and a literature-based MedDiet adherence score. Dependent variables included systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), pulse pressure (PP), and mean arterial pressure (MAP). Separate linear robust regression analyses revealed significant associations between MedDiet adherence and for SBP (b = -0.69, 95% CI = [-1.25, -0.20]), DBP (b = -0.33, 95% CI = [-0.58, -0.04]), and MAP (b = -0.45, 95% CI = [-0.77, -0.11]), but not for PP. These findings indicate that the MedDiet is associated with some metrics of blood pressure in a large, community-based, non-Mediterranean sample
