South African Child Gauge 2007/2008
The South African Child Gauge is a special book about children in South Africa. This collection of papers focuses on 'the meaning of childrenâs right to social services, and is divided into three parts. Part 1 focuses on legislature affecting children in 2007; Part 2 looks at social service delivery as pertains to children, specifically with regard to their healthcare and protection; and Part 3 consists of numeric indicators on the state of children's health in South Africa.. This resource can be used for independent study/research or for integration into child development curriculum

Article 2(1) ICESCR and States Parties' Obligations: Whither the Budget?
Analyses the budget-specific obligations imposed by the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights 1966 art.2(1), which requires the relevant State to take steps to the maximum of their available resources in order to realise the rights under the Covenant. Considers the relationship between budgets and the realisation of human rights by civil society organisations and alliances. Outlines the budget dimensions of the obligations under the Covenant
