Inequalities involving Aharonov-Bohm magnetic potentials in dimensions 2 and 3
This paper is devoted to a collection of results on nonlinear interpolation
inequalities associated with Schr\"odinger operators involving Aharonov-Bohm
magnetic potentials, and to some consequences. As symmetry plays an important
role for establishing optimality results, we shall consider various cases
corresponding to a circle, a two-dimensional sphere or a two-dimensional torus,
and also the Euclidean spaces of dimensions two and three. Most of the results
are new and we put the emphasis on the methods, as very little is known on
symmetry, rigidity and optimality in presence of a magnetic field. The most
spectacular applications are new magnetic Hardy inequalities in dimensions 2
and 3
Irish film finance rebooted: the new Section 481
In 2016, the Section 481 tax incentive, the main subsidy system underpinning film and television content in Ireland, undergoes some important changes, with potentially serious implications for Irish film workers
Non-Local Multi-Continuum method (NLMC) for Darcy-Forchheimer flow in fractured media
This work presents the application of the non-local multicontinuum method
(NLMC) for the Darcy-Forchheimer model in fractured media. The mathematical
model describes a nonlinear flow in fractured porous media with a high inertial
effect and flow speed. The space approximation is constructed on the
sufficiently fine grid using a finite volume method (FVM) with an embedded
fracture model (EFM) to approximate lower dimensional fractures. A non-local
model reduction approach is presented based on localization and constraint
energy minimization. The multiscale basis functions are constructed in
oversampled local domains to consider the flow effects from neighboring local
domains. Numerical results are presented for a two-dimensional formulation with
two test cases of heterogeneity. The influence of model nonlinearity on the
multiscale method accuracy is investigated. The numerical results show that the
non-local multicontinuum method provides highly accurate results for

“Behold, I have written it on parchment…” Two Early Amharic Poems from Ms. Ef. 10 (Koriander 2), St. Petersburg
The article deals with two short poems in Amharic from Ms. Ef. 10 kept in the Library of the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg. Amharic, a Semitic language of Ethiopia, came to function as the second written language of Ethiopian Empire in the course of the 19th century. Samples of Amharic texts prior to this period are scanty and worthy of special study. The poems in question can be dated to the period end of the 17th – beginning of the 18th century. The article provides the texts of the poems with translation and linguistic and philological commentary, accompanied by a short description of Ms. Ef. 10
Fire in the Operating Room During Hypospadias Repair
Fire in the operating room (OR) is a very distressful and shocking occurrence with potential dramatic consequences. Despite safety rules and rigorous recommendations, such unintentional events do occur every so often. Notably, the vast majority of cases have been reported in the adult population, with very few pediatric cases described to date. Herein, we report on a 16-month-old boy undergoing reconstructive surgery for penoscrotal hypospadias, who experienced an OR fire most likely related to the use of alcohol-based solution ignited by monopolar electrocautery
