    Light-emitting current of electrically driven single-photon sources

    The time-dependent tunnelling current arising from the electron-hole recombination of exciton state is theoretically studied using the nonequilibrium Green's function technique and the Anderson model with two energy levels. The charge conservation and gauge invariance are satisfied in the tunnelling current. Apart from the classical capacitive charging and discharging behavior, interesting oscillations superimpose on the tunnelling current for the applied rectangular pulse voltage.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure

    On October 24, 2003, SUERF celebrated its 40th anniversary in the Galerie Dorée of the Banque de France with an especially high level and rich seminar. The memorable occasion was further elevated by Jean Claude Trichet giving the tenth SUERF Annual Lecture in his last public speech as Governor of the Banque de France, prior to taking over as President of the European Central Bank. This study brings together in slightly edited form the four papers presented at the seminar and the Annual Lecture.

    For logarithmically divergent one-loop lattice Feynman integrals I(p,a), subject to mild general conditions, we prove the following expected and crucial structural result: I(p,a) = f(p)log(aM)+g(p)+h(p,M) up to terms which vanish for lattice spacing a -> 0. Here p denotes collectively the external momenta and M is a mass scale which may be chosen arbitrarily. The f(p) and h(p,M) are shown to be universal and coincide with analogous quantities in the corresponding continuum integral when the latter is regularized either by momentum cut-off or dimensional regularization. The non-universal term g(p) is shown to be a homogeneous polynomial in p of the same degree as f(p). This structure is essential for consistency between renormalized lattice and continuum formulations of QCD at one loop.Comment: 26 pages (after reformatting using revtex); typos corrected; to appear in Phys.Rev.

    A new species of Colletes (Hymenoptera: Apoidea: Colletidae) from northern Florida and Georgia, with notes on the Colletes of those states

    Colletes ultravalidus Hall & Ascher, new species, is described from several sites in northwestern Florida and southeastern Georgia.  It is a member of the inaequalis species group, very similar to C. validus Cresson, a specialist of Ericaceae, but can be distinguished by an even more elongate malar area and the absence of conspicuous tergal fascia.  Colletes ultravalidus has been found flying from early winter to early spring when it forms nest aggregations in xeric sites adjacent to shrub bog or basin swamp, the habitat of Pieris phyllyreifolia (Hook.) DC. (Ericaceae), the most likely, but as yet unconfirmed, host plant of the new species.  State records of Colletes for Florida and Georgia are reviewed and discrepancies in taxonomy and distributional limits between Stephen’s 1954 revision of the genus and Mitchell’s 1960 monograph of eastern North American bees are noted.  We concur with Stephen that the distributions of several taxa in Colletes are more limited than that reported by Mitchell
