SystemC Model Generation for Realistic Simulation of Networked Embedded Systems

    Get PDF
Verification and design-space exploration of today's embedded systems require the simulation of heterogeneous aspects of the system, i.e., software, hardware, communications. This work shows the use of SystemC to simulate a model-driven specification of the behavior of a networked embedded system together with a complete network scenario consisting of the radio channel, the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol for wireless personal area networks and concurrent traffic sharing the medium. The paper describes the main issues addressed to generate SystemC modules from Matlab/Stateflow descriptions and to integrate them in a complete network scenario. Simulation results on a healthcare wireless sensor network show the validity of the approach

    Network-aware design-space exploration of a power-efficient embedded application

    Get PDF
The paper presents the design and multi-parameter optimization of a networked embedded application for the health-care domain. Several hardware, software, and application parameters, such as clock frequency, sensor sampling rate, data packet rate, are tuned at design- and run-time according to application specifications and operating conditions to optimize hardware requirements, packet loss, power consumption. Experimental results show that further power efficiency can be achieved by considering also communication aspects during design space exploratio

Efficient loading of identical viral peptide onto class II molecules by antigenized immunoglobulin and influenza virus

Several prior reports have identified peptides that are naturally associated with major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II molecules on presenting cells. We have examined the delivery of a peptide from exogenous sources to MHC class II molecules. The peptide derives from the influenza virus hemagglutinin (HA) and activates a CD4+ T cell hybridoma. In functional assays of antigen presentation, this epitope is delivered effectively to T cells either in the context of influenza virus or chimeric immunoglobulin (Ig) molecules (Ig-HA) in which the peptide has replaced the CDR3 loop of the heavy chain. We find that the identical 11-mer peptide can be isolated from mouse MHC class II antigens whether the exogenous source of peptide is free HA peptide, the Ig-HA chimera, or ultraviolet-inactivated PK8 influenza virus. The Ig-HA chimera proves to be the most efficient vehicle for charging class II molecules via the exogenous route. Given the fact that self Igs represent natural long-lived carriers, we suggest that antigenized Igs have considerable potential for peptide delivery to MHC molecules in situ

A BiCMOS current carrier transceiver on low voltage power lines

This paper presents a BiCMOS technology project of a Current Carrier Transceiver (CCT) for data and digital broadcasting on Low Voltage (LV) power lines (230-240~Vac). The CCT is the central piece in using the LV power lines network as communication channel for various "intelligent" sensors, actuators, monitors, and remote control for domotic or industrial purpose

Spectral measures of small index principal graphs

The principal graph XX of a subfactor with finite Jones index is one of the important algebraic invariants of the subfactor. If Δ\Delta is the adjacency matrix of XX we consider the equation Δ=U+U1\Delta=U+U^{-1}. When XX has square norm 4\leq 4 the spectral measure of UU can be averaged by using the map uu1u\to u^{-1}, and we get a probability measure ϵ\epsilon on the unit circle which does not depend on UU. We find explicit formulae for this measure ϵ\epsilon for the principal graphs of subfactors with index 4\le 4, the (extended) Coxeter-Dynkin graphs of type AA, DD and EE. The moment generating function of ϵ\epsilon is closely related to Jones' Θ\Theta-series.Comment: 23 page

Distributed Data Classification in Underwater Acoustic Sensors based on Local Time-Frequency Coherence Analysis

    No full text
International audienceThis paper introduces a stochastic approach that considers the distributed classification problem for a network of underwater acoustic sensors. The proposed classifier applies the third order polynomial regression to the instantaneous frequency extracted from time-frequency representation of different classes of signals and represent the polynomial's coefficients in a threedimensional representation space. This automatic classifier is then compared to a non-parametric classifier based on the training of a standard neural network. The results of the proposed method on real data illustrate the efficiency of this algorithm, in terms of signal's characterization and lower communication bit rates between each sensor and the data center

Onset of Wave Drag due to Generation of Capillary-Gravity Waves by a Moving Object as a Critical Phenomenon

The onset of the {\em wave resistance}, via generation of capillary gravity waves, of a small object moving with velocity VV, is investigated experimentally. Due to the existence of a minimum phase velocity VcV_c for surface waves, the problem is similar to the generation of rotons in superfluid helium near their minimum. In both cases waves or rotons are produced at V>VcV>V_c due to {\em Cherenkov radiation}. We find that the transition to the wave drag state is continuous: in the vicinity of the bifurcation the wave resistance force is proportional to VVc\sqrt{V-V_c} for various fluids.Comment: 4 pages, 7 figure
