    Vibration analysis of a tire in ground contact under varied conditions

    The effect of three different factors, which are inflation pressure, vertical load and coefficient of friction on the natural frequencies of a tire (175/70 R13) has been studied. A three dimensional tire model is constructed, using four different material properties and parts in the tire. Mechanical properties of the composite parts are evaluated. After investigating the free vibration, contact analysis is carried out. A concrete block and the tire are modelled together, using three different coefficients of friction. Experiments are run under certain conditions to check the accuracy of the numerical model. The natural frequencies are measured to describe free vibration and vibration of the tire contacted by ground, using a damping monitoring method. It is seen, that experimental and numerical results are in good agreement. On the other hand, investigating the impact of three different factors together is quite difficult on the natural frequencies.     Anaphylaxis is a serious and probably lethal systemic reaction which occurs instantaneously after exposure to an allergen. It can occur after exposure to various triggers including allergic and non-allergic factors. When a trigger cannot be determined, idiopathic anaphylaxis is considered. In idiopathic anaphylaxis presenting with frequent attacks, long-term prophylaxis with H1 antihistamine and steroid treatment are recommended. Omalizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody drug which decreases free immunoglobulin E molecules in the circulation, is approved for the treatment of chronic severe persistent allergic asthma. We report a 46-year-old female patient with severe uncontrolled allergic asthma and idiopathic anaphylaxis presenting with attacks of abdominal pain, generalized urticaria, feeling of strangulation in her throat and unconsciousness. Omalizumab at a dose of 375 mg once every 2 weeks was administrated and at the end of 3 months anaphylactic attacks had ceased. At the end of the sixth month of omalizumab therapy, her injection intervals were extended to 4 weeks. After she began experiencing moderate attacks of urticaria and hoarsening, however, initial treatment plan was reestablished. Currently, she has completed her first year of treatment without further attacks

    Extraintestinal manifestations are frequent in patients with ulcerative colitis. They are most commonly associated with active bowel disease but can also occur prior to bowel disease or during a period of remission. The disease often requires long-term therapy. The tolerability of drugs is essential for the comprehensive management of patients. Azathioprine is considered an indispensable drug for the treatment of severe ulcerative colitis patients. It is used to prevent relapse or to treat patients who are refractory to corticosteroids. We report a patient who had alopecia areata, vitiligo, recurrent episcleritis, ulcerative colitis and azathioprine-induced liver injury, and review the related literature

    Relationship between ace genotype and short duration aerobic performance development

    WOS: 000242658400003PubMed ID: 16969640We have previously demonstrated that, ACE D allele may be related with a better performance in short duration aerobic endurance in a homogeneous cohort with similar training backgrounds. We aimed to study the variation in the short-duration aerobic performance development amongst ACE genotypes in response to identical training programs in homogeneous populations. The study group consisted of 186 male Caucasian non-elite Turkish army recruits. All subjects had undergone an identical training program with double training session per day and 6 days a week for 6 months. Performances for middle distance runs (2,400 m) were evaluated on an athletics track before and after the training period. ACE gene polymorphisms were studied by PCR analysis. The distribution of genotypes in the whole group was 16.7% II, n = 31; 46.2% ID, n = 86; 37.1% DD, n = 69. Subjects with ACE DD genotype had significantly higher enhancement than the ID (P ACE ID > ACE II (P value for Pearson chi(2) = 0.461 and P value for linear by linear association = 0.001). ACE DD genotype seems to have an advantage in development in short-duration aerobic performance. This data in unison with the data that we have obtained from homogenous cohorts previously is considered as an existence of threshold for initiation of ACE I allele effectiveness in endurance performance. This threshold may be anywhere between 10 and 30 min with lasting maximal exercises
