A Self-Powered Enzymatic Glucose Sensor Utilizing Bimetallic Nanoparticle Composites Modified Pencil Graphite Electrodes as Cathode
Enzymatic biofuel cells (EBFC) are promising sources of green energy owing to the benefits of using renewable biofuels, eco-friendly biocatalysts, and moderate operating conditions. In this study, a simple and effective EBFC was presented using an enzymatic composite material-based anode and a nonenzymatic bimetallic nanoparticle-based cathode respectively. The anode was constructed from a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with a multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and ferrocene (Fc) as a conductive layer coupled with the enzyme glucose oxidase (GOx) as a sensitive detection layer for glucose. A chitosan layer was also applied to the electrode as a protective layer to complete the composite anode. Chronoamperometry (CA) results show that the MWCNT-Fc-GOx/GCE electrode has a linear relationship between current and glucose concentration, which varied from 1 to 10 mM. The LOD and LOQ were calculated for anode as 0.26 mM and 0.87 mM glucose, respectively. Also the sensitivity of the proposed sensor was calculated as 25.71 μA/mM. Moreover, the studies of some potential interferants show that there is no significant interference for anode in the determination of glucose except ascorbic acid (AA), uric acid (UA), and dopamine (DA). On the other hand, the cathode consisted of a disposable pencil graphite electrode (PGE) modified with platinum-palladium bimetallic nanoparticles (Nps) which exhibit excellent conductivity and electron transfer rate for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). The constructed EBFC was optimized and characterized using various electroanalytical techniques. The EBFC consisting of MWCNT-Fc-GOx/GCE anode and Pt-PdNps/PGE cathode exhibits an open circuit potential of 285.0 mV and a maximum power density of 32.25 µW cm−2 under optimized conditions. The results show that the proposed EBFC consisting of an enzymatic composite-based anode and bimetallic nanozyme-based cathode is a unique design and a promising candidate for detecting glucose while harvesting power from glucose-containing natural or artificial fluids
The frequency of Duchenne muscular dystrophy/Becker muscular dystrophy and Pompe disease in children with isolated transaminase elevation: results from the observational VICTORIA study
IntroductionElevated transaminases and/or creatine phosphokinase can indicate underlying muscle disease. Therefore, this study aims to determine the frequency of Duchenne muscular dystrophy/Becker muscular dystrophy (DMD/BMD) in male children and Pompe disease (PD) in male and female children with isolated hypertransaminasemia.MethodsThis multi-center, prospective study enrolled patients aged 3–216 months with serum alanine transaminase (ALT) and/or aspartate transaminase (AST) levels >2× the upper limit of normal (ULN) for ≥3 months. Patients with a known history of liver or muscle disease or physical examination findings suggestive of liver disease were excluded. Patients were screened for creatinine phosphokinase (CPK) levels, and molecular genetic tests for DMD/BMD in male patients and enzyme analysis for PD in male and female patients with elevated CPK levels were performed. Genetic analyses confirmed PD. Demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of the patients were analyzed.ResultsOverall, 589 patients [66.8% male, mean age of 63.4 months (standard deviation: 60.5)] were included. In total, 251 patients (188 male and 63 female) had CPK levels above the ULN. Of the patients assessed, 47% (85/182) of male patients were diagnosed with DMD/BMD and 1% (3/228) of male and female patients were diagnosed with PD. The median ALT, AST, and CPK levels were statistically significantly higher, and the questioned neurological symptoms and previously unnoticed examination findings were more common in DMD/BMD patients than those without DMD/BMD or PD (p < 0.001).DiscussionQuestioning neurological symptoms, conducting a complete physical examination, and testing for CPK levels in patients with isolated hypertransaminasemia will prevent costly and time-consuming investigations for liver diseases and will lead to the diagnosis of occult neuromuscular diseases.

Aim: To evaluate the effect of healthcare expenditure of the patients who have chronic disease on chronic disease care satisfaction.
Method: This cross sectional design study was conducted at four primary care clinics in Antakya, the central city of Hatay. The adult
patients with a chronic disease at least for one year who visit the primary care centers from June to October 2017 were included in the
study. A questionnaire including questions about the chronic disease, the healthcare they receive, and the factors that effect their
healthcare expenditure were applied to the subjects. Also the subjects filled a chronic disease care evaluation scale- patient form
(modified PACIC) to evaluate the healthcare they receive. P value<0,05 is considered as significant. Results: Of the 790 patients 400
(50,6%) were female, while 390 (49,4%) were male. The average age of the participants was 47,1 ±15,2. Average Modified PACIC
score was calculated as 3,29 ±0,7. It was observed that healthcare intake was affected as the income level of the patients increased
(Cramer’s V = 0,263; p = 0,001). In patients with atherosclerotic heart disease, the chronic disease satisfaction score was found to be
lower with 3.0 ± 0.6 compared to other diseases (p = 0.005). There was no difference between the chronic disease care satisfaction
scores according to the income level categories of the patients (p = 0.853). Conclusion: Modified PACIC subscale scores of the
patients who stated that their out-of-pocket health spending did not affect their service purchases were generally higher. In addition, it
was concluded that the income level of the patients affected chronic disease care

Neutrosophic Modeling of Talcott Parsons’s Action and Decision-Making Applications for It
The grand theory of action of Parsons has an important place in social theories. Furthermore, there are many uncertainties in the theory of Parsons. Classical math logic is often insufficient to explain these uncertainties. In this study, we explain the grand theory of action of Parsons in neutrosociology for the first time. Thus, we achieve a more effective way of dealing with the uncertainties in the theory of Parsons as in all social theories. We obtain a similarity measure for single-valued neutrosophic numbers. In addition, we show that this measure of similarity satisfies the similarity measure conditions. By making use of this similarity measure, we obtain applications that allow finding the ideal society in the theory of Parsons within the theory of neutrosociology. In addition, we compare the results we obtained with the data in this study with the results of the similarity measures previously defined. Thus, we have checked the appropriateness of the decision-making application that we obtained
