Improving Memory Hierarchy Utilisation for Stencil Computations on Multicore Machines

Although modern supercomputers are composed of multicore machines, one can find scientists that still execute their legacy applications which were developed to monocore cluster where memory hierarchy is dedicated to a sole core. The main objective of this paper is to propose and evaluate an algorithm that identify an efficient blocksize to be applied on MPI stencil computations on multicore machines. Under the light of an extensive experimental analysis, this work shows the benefits of identifying blocksizes that will dividing data on the various cores and suggest a methodology that explore the memory hierarchy available in modern machines

COMPARAÇÃO ENTRE O MECDR E O MECID NA SOLUÇÃO DE PROBLEMAS DE AUTOVALOR

This article compares the performance of two formulations of the BEM to solve acoustic problems, governed by the Helmholtz equation: the formulation of Dual Reciprocity and formulation with Direct Integration. The latter is a new alternative to the Dual Reciprocity technique for solving problems modeled by non-adjoint differential operators. Both method are similar, but, the formulation with Direct Integration is simpler and closely resembles an interpolation procedure. Thus, through the solution of eigenvalue problem, natural frequencies are calculated and their accuracy is taken as a parameter to assessing the quality of the results of each formulation. Examples whose analytical solution is known were chosen for analysis of the results

Analysis of GPU Power Consumption Using Internal Sensors

GPUs has been widely used in scientific computing, as by offering exceptional performance as by power-efficient hardware. Its position established in high-performance and scientific computing communities has increased the urgency of understanding the power cost of GPU usage in accurate measurements. For this, the use of internal sensors are extremely important. In this work, we employ the GPU sensors to obtain high-resolution power profiles of real and benchmark applications. We wrote our own tools to query the sensors of two NVIDIA GPUs from different generations and compare the accuracy of them. Also, we compare the power profile of GPU with CPU using IPMItool

Quantificação sérica de vitamina C por CLAE-UV e estudo de estabilidade

Vitamin C, an exogenous antioxidant, is essential to human health. In this study, a method was validated to serum vitamin C quantification by HPLC-UV. Its stability with and without the use of tris [2-carboxy-ethyl] phosphine hydrochloride (TCEP), at -20 and -80 °C, in serum and supernatant were also evaluated. Analysis showed r² > 0.99, precision CV% < 15% and % bias < 15%, being linear, precise and accurate. The stability test revealed that using TCEP in serum storage at -20 and -80 °C or in supernatant at -80 °C the vitamin C levels remain stable for 30 and 12 days, respectively
