The octonionic eigenvalue problem
By using a real matrix translation, we propose a coupled eigenvalue problem
for octonionic operators. In view of possible applications in quantum
mechanics, we also discuss the hermiticity of such operators. Previous
difficulties in formulating a consistent octonionic Hilbert space are solved by
using the new coupled eigenvalue problem and introducing an appropriate scalar
product for the probability amplitudes.Comment: 21 page
Bio-Ecology On A Mixed Prairie Near Hays, Kansas
A survey of the activity of wild animals in connection with range conditions and range management is greatly needed in western Kansas. To have a well-managed range one should have an understanding of the ecological factors which benefit or deplete the native vegetation that is essential for production of livestock. The impact of grazing, and the effect of changes in edaphic and atmospheric environment on the prairie have further emphasized the importance of a cover of grass in preventing erosion
A simple expression for the ADM mass
We show by an almost elementary calculation that the ADM mass of an
asymptotically flat space can be computed as a limit involving a rate of change
of area of a closed 2-surface. The result is essentially the same as that given
by Brown and York. We will prove this result in two ways, first by direct
calculation from the original formula as given by Arnowitt, Deser and Misner
and second as a corollary of an earlier result by Brewin for the case of

Radiation Damage of F8 Lead Glass with 20 MeV Electrons
Using a 20 MeV linear accelerator, we investigate the effects of
electromagnetic radiation on the optical transparency of F8 lead glass.
Specifically, we measure the change in attenuation length as a function of
radiation dose. Comparing our results to similar work that utilized a proton
beam, we conclude that F8 lead glass is more susceptible to proton damage than
