    Modelling Flexible Collaborative Process: The VCP2M Approach

    This paper addresses the collaborative processes flexibility issue, which is an important issue in Business Process (BP) Management. Indeed, the strong competition in which organizations are involved lead them to frequently change and adapt their collaborative processes to face new client requirements or to benefit from new collaboration opportunities. More precisely, this paper proposes to adopt a version-based approach to support the modelling of flexible collaborative processes. First it introduces the VBP2M meta-model (Version of BP meta-model) supporting the modelling of flexible internal (i.e., intra-organizational) processes, and then explains how to extend it to define the VCP2M meta-model (Version of Collaborative Processes meta-model) to design flexible collaborative processes, which correspond to processes crossing the boundaries of companies. A specific case study illustrates the modelling of collaborative process versions as instances of VCP2M

    Étude de la diversitĂ© des Isopodes Terrestres dans les AgrosystĂšmes Oasiens de la Tunisie

    Dans cette Ă©tude, plusieurs compagnes d’échantillonnage d’isopodes terrestres ont Ă©tĂ© rĂ©alisĂ©es dans diffĂ©rentes oasis du Sud Tunisien ainsi que dans d’autres sites hors oasis. Les rĂ©sultats ont permis de recenser : dans les oasis, une douzaine d’espĂšces appartenant Ă  trois familles Porcellionidae, Armadillidiidae et Armadillidae et dans les autres sites hors oasis, seulement 5 espĂšces faisant partie des 2 familles Porcellionidae et Agnaridae. Cette diffĂ©rence de la richesse spĂ©cifique pourrait ĂȘtre expliquĂ©e par les conditions climatiques diffĂ©rentes entre les deux sites Ă©tudiĂ©s. En effet, la majoritĂ© des espĂšces collectĂ©es dans les oasis sont caractĂ©ristiques des zones humides tĂ©moignant du rĂŽle important des oasis dans le maintien de cette diversitĂ© spĂ©cifique des isopodes terrestres

    Water-soluble polysaccharides from Opuntia stricta Haw. fruit peels: Recovery, identification and evaluation of their antioxidant activities

    Opuntia stricta Haw. is considered as one of the most common cactus plant growing in Tunisia. Extracting valuable compounds from its fruit peel, considered as by-product, is drawing more and more attention, making it on the verge of commercialization. Water-soluble polysaccharides were extracted from Opuntia stricta Haw. peels, and their chemical composition assessed using thin layer chromatography. The antioxidant activities of the extracted polysaccharides were assessed using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl free radical scavenging activity, total antioxidant activity and reducing power capacity. The extraction yield of water-soluble polysaccharides was 7.53±0.86%. The chemical composition revealed the presence of rhamnose, arabinose, glucose, mannose, galactose and galacturonic acid. The infra-red spectroscopic analysis showed a similar structure to that of Opuntia ficus-indica polysaccharide peels. Additionally, the extracted polysaccharides exhibited high antioxidant activities. In fact, the free radical scavenging activity (half inhibition concentration = 6.5 mg ml-1 with 94.9% inhibition at 50 mg ml-1), the total antioxidant activity (100 Όg ascorbic acid equivalent at 50 mg polysaccharides) and the reducing power capacity (absorbance 700 nm = 0.7 at 50 mg ml-1), appeared to be interesting compared to natural and synthetic antioxidants. Therefore, water-soluble polysaccharides from Opuntia stricta Haw. fruit peels could be a natural alternative to replace synthetic antioxidants

    Effects of pomegranate juice supplementation on oxidative stress biomarkers following weightlifting exercise

    The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that pomegranate juice supplementation would blunt acute and delayed oxidative stress responses after a weightlifting training session. Nine elite weightlifters (21.0 ±1 years) performed two Olympic-Weightlifting sessions after ingesting either the placebo or pomegranate juice supplements. Venous blood samples were collected at rest and 3 min and 48 h after each session. Compared to the placebo condition, pomegranate juice supplementation attenuated the increase in malondialdehyde (-12.5%; p < 0.01) and enhanced the enzymatic (+8.6% for catalase and +6.8% for glutathione peroxidase; p < 0.05) and non-enzymatic (+12.6% for uric acid and +5.7% for total bilirubin; p < 0.01) antioxidant responses shortly (3 min) after completion of the training session. Additionally, during the 48 h recovery period, pomegranate juice supplementation accelerated (p < 0.05) the recovery kinetics of the malondialdehyde (5.6%) and the enzymatic antioxidant defenses compared to the placebo condition (9 to 10%). In conclusion, supplementation with pomegranate juice has the potential to attenuate oxidative stress by enhancing antioxidant responses assessed acutely and up to 48 h following an intensive weightlifting training session. Therefore, elite weightlifters might benefit from blunted oxidative stress responses following intensive weightlifting sessions, which could have implications for recovery between training sessions

    Uncovering the clinical relevance of unclassified variants in DNA repair genes: a focus on BRCA negative Tunisian cancer families

    Introduction: Recent advances in sequencing technologies have significantly increased our capability to acquire large amounts of genetic data. However, the clinical relevance of the generated data continues to be challenging particularly with the identification of Variants of Uncertain Significance (VUSs) whose pathogenicity remains unclear. In the current report, we aim to evaluate the clinical relevance and the pathogenicity of VUSs in DNA repair genes among Tunisian breast cancer families.Methods: A total of 67 unsolved breast cancer cases have been investigated. The pathogenicity of VUSs identified within 26 DNA repair genes was assessed using different in silico prediction tools including SIFT, PolyPhen2, Align-GVGD and VarSEAK. Effects on the 3D structure were evaluated using the stability predictor DynaMut and molecular dynamics simulation with NAMD. Family segregation analysis was also performed.Results: Among a total of 37 VUSs identified, 11 variants are likely deleterious affecting ATM, BLM, CHEK2, ERCC3, FANCC, FANCG, MSH2, PMS2 and RAD50 genes. The BLM variant, c.3254dupT, is novel and seems to be associated with increased risk of breast, endometrial and colon cancer. Moreover, c.6115G&gt;A in ATM and c.592+3A&gt;T in CHEK2 were of keen interest identified in families with multiple breast cancer cases and their familial cosegregation with disease has been also confirmed. In addition, functional in silico analyses revealed that the ATM variant may lead to protein immobilization and rigidification thus decreasing its activity. We have also shown that FANCC and FANCG variants may lead to protein destabilization and alteration of the structure compactness which may affect FANCC and FANCG protein activity.Conclusion: Our findings revealed that VUSs in DNA repair genes might be associated with increased cancer risk and highlight the need for variant reclassification for better disease management. This will help to improve the genetic diagnosis and therapeutic strategies of cancer patients not only in Tunisia but also in neighboring countries
