    The Italian context’s push towards BIM should be considered an opportunity to implement a digital transition towards the use of IT tools, through a culturally innovative approach to construction provided by Lean thinking and its gamification. The Lean approach leverages proven strategies to increase the quality of the production process. However, its application is still difficult: hence the need to convey effective proposals that use the structure of games to present actual ‘simulations’ of the production process. This paper aims to highlight how the gamified application of Lean processes constitutes a transformative formula enabling digitalisation, to achieve sustainability goals in the AECO Industry through original training approaches

    TEM and SEM-CL studies of SiC Nanowires

    3C-SiC and 3C-SiC/SiO2 core-shell nanowires (NWs) grown on silicon substrates by three different processes, based on the use of i) carbon monoxide, ii) silane with propane and iii) carbon tetrachloride precursors, are analysed by structural and optical techniques. Spectroscopic cathodoluminescence studies show a luminescence enhancement in core-shell structures, ascribed to an effective role of the shell as both carrier injecting barrier and passivation layer. In NWs grown using CCl4 precursor, a peculiar luminescence with dominant red component at about 2 eV has been detected and ascribed to point defects related to an unintentional oxygen incorporation.vedi abstract ingles

    Measuring the Virgo area tilt noise with a laser gyroscope

    We report on the measurements of tilt noise performed at the Virgo site with a ring laser gyroscope. The apparatus is a He-Ne laser operating in a square cavity mounted on a vertical plane perpendicular to the north-south arm of the inteferometer. We discuss the possibility of using the ring laser signal to improve the performances of the control system of the Virgo seismic suspensions. The comparison between the ring laser signal and the control signals for the longitudinal translations of the inverted pendulum (IP) shows remarkable coherence in the frequency range 20-200 mHz.Comment: 4 pages, Proceedings of 46th Rencontres de Morion

    Synthesis of built-in highly strained monolayer MoS2 using liquid precursor chemical vapor deposition

    Strain engineering is an efficient tool to tune and tailor the electrical and optical properties of 2D materials. The built-in strain can be tuned during the synthesis process of a two dimensional semiconductor, as molybdenum disulfide, by employing different growth substrate with peculiar thermal properties. In this work we demonstrate that the built-in strain of MoS2 monolayers, grown on SiO2/Si substrate using liquid precursors chemical vapor deposition, is mainly dominated by the size of the monolayer. In fact, we identify a critical size equal to 20 um, from which the built-in strain increases drastically. The built-in strain is maximized for 60 um sized monolayer, leading to 1.2% tensile strain with a partial release of strain close to the monolayer triangular vertexes due to formation of nanocracks. These findings also imply that the standard method for evaluation of the number of layers based on the Raman modes separation becomes unreliable for monolayer with a lateral size above 20 um

    Familial Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis May Present during Adulthood: Clinical and Genetic Features of a Small Series

    Familial Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (FHL) is a rare immune deficiency with defective cytotoxic function. The age at onset is usually young and the natural course is rapidly fatal if untreated. A later onset of the disease has been sporadically reported even in adolescents and adults. We report the results of our retrospective data collection of all cases diagnosed with FHL at an age of 18 years or older and enrolled in the Italian Registry of HLH. All cases were diagnosed with FHL based on evidence of genetic defect in one FHL-related gene. A total of 11 patients were diagnosed with FHL. They were 9 males and 2 females, from 10 unrelated families; their age ranged between 18 and 43 years (median, 23 years). Family history was unremarkable in eight families at the time of the diagnosis. Their genetic diagnoses are: FHL2 (n = 6), FHL3 (n = 2), FHL5 (n = 1), XLP1 (n = 2). Clinical, molecular and functional data are described. These data confirm that FHL may present beyond the pediatric age and up to the fifth decade. FHL2 due to perforin defect is the most frequently reported subtype. Adult specialists should consider FHL in the differential diagnosis of patients with cytopenia and liver or central nervous system disorders, especially when a lymphoproliferative disease is suspected but eventually not confirmed. FHL may turn to be fatal within a short time course even in adults. This risk, together with the continuous improvement in the transplant technique, especially in the area of transplant from matched unrelated donor, resulting in reduced treatment related mortality, might suggest a wider use of SCT in this population. Current diagnostic approach allows prompt identification of patients by flow-cytometry screening, then confirmed by the genetic study, and treatment with chemo-immunotherapy followed by stem cell transplantation

    An underground Sagnac gyroscope with sub-prad/s rotation rate sensitivity: toward General Relativity tests on Earth

    Measuring in a single location on Earth its angular rotation rate with respect to the celestial frame, with a sensitivity enabling access to the tiny Lense-Thirring effect is an extremely challenging task. GINGERINO is a large frame ring laser gyroscope, operating free running and unattended inside the underground laboratory of the Gran Sasso, Italy. The main geodetic signals, i.e., Annual and Chandler wobbles, daily polar motion and Length of the Day, are recovered from GINGERINO data using standard linear regression methods, demonstrating a sensitivity better than 1 prad/s, therefore close to the requirements for an Earth-based Lense-Thirring test.Comment: 7 pages, 5 figure
