    Spanish adaptation and factor structure of the Denison Organizational Culture Survey

    [EN]: This article presents a Spanish adaptation of the Denison Organizational Culture Survey, a questionnaire designed to evaluate organizational culture. This survey consists of 60 items, grouped in 12 subscales, which identify 4 cultural dimensions. These dimensions have been widely studied and their influence in organizational effectiveness has been accepted. This adaptation was applied to 488 participants, and analysed with confirmatory factor analysis. Results show adequate psychometric properties, so it can be concluded that the Spanish adaptation almost completely replicates the structure of the original version in English. © 2009 Psicothema.[ES]: En este estudio se presenta la adaptación al castellano del Denison Organizational Culture Survey, una encuesta diseñada para la evaluación de la cultura organizativa. Este cuestionario, compuesto por 60 ítems que identifican 12 tipos culturales, que a su vez se agrupan en cuatro dimensiones, ha demostrado su influencia para aumentar la efectividad organizacional. La adaptación al castellano que aquí se propone ha sido aplicada a 488 personas pertenecientes a 39 grupos de I+D tecnológicos de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. Los resultados obtenidos muestran unas propiedades psicométricas adecuadas para la adaptación realizada en cuanto a validez y fiabilidad, que replican casi en su totalidad la estructura del modelo de la versión original.[EN]: This article presents a Spanish adaptation of Denison Organizational Culture Survey.     Trabajo presentado al 11th European Congress of Psychology (2009) celebrado en Oslo (Noruega) del 7 al 10 de Julio de 2009.[Objectives]: Present and validate a Spanish adaptation of Denison Organizational Culture Survey (Denison y Neale, 1994, 2000), a survey designed to evaluate organizational culture. [Methods]: the questionnaire consists of 60 items, grouped in 12 sub-scales, which identify 4 cultural dimensions. The Spanish adaptation proposed here has been applied in 488 subjects using, among other techniques, confirmatory factor analysis. (Spss 15 and EQS 6.1). [Results]: Results show adequate psychometric properties, especially in "Involvement"; "Mission"; and the structure of 12 sub-scales grouped in 4 cultural dimensions. [Conclusions]: The Spanish adaptation almost fully replicates the structure of the original version in English, and seems to be adequate to evaluate organizational culture.Peer Reviewe

    Organizational culture perception and knowledge management in Research and Development groups: A case study of a Spanish university

    Trabajo presentado al 11th European Congress of Psychology (2009) celebrado en Oslo (Noruega) del 7 al 10 de Julio de 2009.[Objectives]: Describe the organizacional culture and the knowledge flow in Research and development groups. [Methods]: Administration of the Organizational culture inventory (OCI), a Spanish adaptation of Denison Organizational Culture Survey, and a Knowledge flow surrey (TAI). [Analysis]: Descriptive statistics among other techniques (SPSS15) Sample=399 subjects from 39 groups. Results OCI: High puntuations in “Achievement” , “Self-Actualization”, “Humanistic-Helpful”, “Affiliative”, “Approval”, “Conventional” and Oppositional”. DOCS: All scales shows middle-high values, however, “Empowerment” sames to be the most important. TAI: Most of the scales shows middle-high values (except Transsmision). The most important are “Shared Problem solving”, “Implementing and Integrating” and “Transference”. [Conclusions]: In the R&D groups primary cultures are those within literature show to have a positive impact in Knowledge Management.Peer Reviewe

    Dimensions of scientific collaboration and its contribution to the academic research groups' scientific quality

    11 pages, 3 tables, 3 figuresThis article analyzes, under several dimensions, whether collaboration contributes to the production of high-quality scientific results. It examines the proportion of scientific quality (measured by impact and relevance) gained by ISI publications considering the presence of a particular form of collaboration. As an application case, this paper offers a micro-level analysis of the academic research groups (ARGs) of a technical university. Results indicate that there are positive and significant benefits in scientific quality received by ARGs as product of international and inter-sector collaboration, and in a broader sense, from the presence of inter-institutional collaboration.The authors are grateful for financial support from the INGENIO (CSIC-UPV), Institute of Innovation and Knowledge Management (Spain), as well as for a doctoral grant from the LANMOT-ALFA Project (UE) No. II0148FA.
