A general digital linearising method for transducers

A practical three-point interpolation algorithm is presented which corrects for manufacturing tolerances, zero offset, scaling errors and nonlinearity of transducers and signal conditioners. The algorithm is applicable to data-acquisition systems which make use of a microprocessor. Each measuring channel requires three parameters. One simple universal routine using these parameters calculates the value of each measurand. Results are given for eight temperature transducers

Flammability limits in flowing ethene-air-nitrogen mixtures: an experimental study

A large pilot plant was constructed to study the upper flammability limit of ethene-air-nitrogen mixtures under conditions of flow. The gas mixtures flowed through an explosion tube with a length of 3.0 m and a diameter of 21 mm. An electrically heated wire was used as ignition source. Experiments were performed at pressures of 5 and 10 bar, with gas temperatures between 25 and 300 °C and with the wire fixed horizontally and vertically.\ud \ud Three different phenomena are observed: negligible reaction, local reaction, and explosion. The negligible reaction region occurs at power supply rates to the wire below a critical value. Above this critical value either a local reaction or an explosion occurs. The critical oxygen concentration which separates the local reaction and explosion regimes depends on the experimental conditions: gas composition, pressure, temperature, wire size and orientation, and gas velocity. An increase in pressure increases the upper flammability limit. Also an increase in temperature causes an increase in the upper flammability limit and the results can be explained by assuming a constant flame temperature.\ud \ud Moreover, the upper flammability limit is influenced by the gas velocity. Under conditions of flow the explosion region becomes smaller, it shifts to higher oxygen concentrations. In practise this may mean that partial oxidation reactions can safely be operated at higher oxygen concentrations, provided gas flow rates are kept high

Het afmesten en afzetten van lammeren op een biologisch bedrijf is geen gemakkelijke weg. Aan de smaak van het vlees zal het niet liggen. De chevon, lammeren met een leeftijd van 5 tot 7 maand, geven vlees met karakter: een vleugje geit! De onbekendheid van het vlees vereist een zorgvuldige introductie in de markt. Onbekendheid leidt dikwijls naar vragen over de bereidingswijze. De potentiële kopers zullen hierin begeleid moeten worden. Omdat het vlees in het hogere marktsegment thuis hoort, vereist dit ook dat het vlees dit uitstraalt door de vormgeving en de bereiding

Behandlung von nicht nur der Blüten aber auch die Rosettenblätter mit Schwefelkalk vergrößert nicht den Ausdünnungseffekt. Das Entfernen (einen Teil) der Rosettenblätter verringerte den Fruchtansatz ein wenig aber vergrößerte den Junifall stark. Die Schlussfolgerung war das Schwefelkalk ausdünnend wirkt durch Verbrennung der Blüte und nicht durch Schädigung der Blätter. In diesem Fall mit Handsprühgerät, wann die Blumen gut getroffen werden mit Schwefelkalk, ist die Ausdünnung sehr gut

Beheersmaatregelen voor de reductie van zilverschurft : Patroonanalyse bij 15 biologische aardappeltelers

Het onderdeel patroonanalyse in het project beheersmaatregelen voor de reductie van zilverschurft is uitgevoerd bij 15 telers in de pootgoedgebieden van Friesland en Flevoland. Van de 15 geïnterviewde telers zijn er 12 die alleen pootgoed telen, 2 die zowel pootgoed- als consumptieaardappelen telen en 1 die dit jaar overgaat van pootgoed naar consumptie teelt. De interviews hebben tot doel meer duidelijkheid te krijgen over de mate van incidentie van zilverschurft. Ook het effect van factoren als grondsoort, teeltmaatregelen, rasverschillen en bewaring op zilverschurft zijn in de interviews meegenomen.
