    Innovation Culture, R&D Intensity, and Firm Innovation

    This paper aims to investigate the value of two types of innovation culture, namely employee-perceived and firm-proclaimed innovation culture. We quantify how employees perceive innovation culture by analyzing the text of 191542 employee reviews on Glassdoor and identifying the presence of firm-proclaimed innovation culture from their official websites. The results indicate that employee-perceived innovation culture has a positive influence on innovation output whereas firm-proclaimed innovation culture does not. Moreover, R&D intensity negatively moderates the effect of employee perceived innovation culture on firm innovation, such that the effect of employee perceived innovation culture is lower when R&D intensity is higher. This finding contradicts the observation of previous studies that used cross-sectional survey data. Nevertheless, our finding is consistent with the view that innovation culture cultivates the intrinsic motivation of employees, but the symbiotic control that comprises the increase of R&D intensity weakens it

    Efficacy of combined atorvastatin calcium, Salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine hydrochloride injection in cerebral infarction patients

    Purpose: To study the effect of a combination of atorvastatin calcium with Salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine hydrochloride injection on serum levels of ferritin (SF), C-reactive protein (CRP) and hypoxia-inducible factor 1α(HIF-1α) in cerebral infarction patients.Methods: A total of 60 cerebral infarction patients (confirmed by CT or MRI scan) were randomly assigned to control group and observation group (30 patients/group). Both groups received routine treatments. All patients took atorvastatin calcium, but those in the observation group were treated with Salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine hydrochloride injection, in addition to atorvastatin hydrochloride for 14 days, with 7 days as treatment course. The levels of SF, CRP and HIF-1α were determined before and after treatment, to assess clinical efficacy and safety.Results: In both groups, SF, CRP and HIF-1α levels were lower after treatment than before treatment (p < 0.05). NIHSS score and platelet activation indices were also significantly reduced, relative to control (p < 0.05).Conclusion: The combination of atorvastatin calcium with Salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine hydrochloride injection can control vascular inflammatory reactions by decreasing the levels of SF, CRP and HIF-1α.     Understanding the Role of Bounty Awards in Improving Content Contribution: Bounty Amount and Temporal Scarcity

    The bounty award system has been implemented on UGC platforms to address specific issues and improve content contributions. This study aims to assess its effectiveness by examining the bounty amount and temporal scarcity. Based on the optimistic bias theory, we posit that the competition for bounty awards among users can have a positive effect, as users may overestimate their chances of winning and persist in their efforts. Additionally, we hypothesize that the amount of bounty award does not have a linear effect on the quantity and quality of user-generated content, but instead follows an inverted U-shaped relationship. Furthermore, drawing on the stuck-in-the-middle (STIM) effect, we hypothesize that temporal scarcity influences contributors\u27 effort allocation in a U-shaped relationship. By exploring these hypotheses, we aim to advance the understanding of the underlying mechanisms of bounty awards and contribute to the development of effective peer incentive strategies

    UNDERSTANDING THE MASSIVE ONLINE REVIEWS: A NOVEL REPRESENTATIVE SUBSET EXTRACTION METHOD

    Online review hasalready been recognized as an important sales assistant for consumers to make their purchase decision. However, with the rapid development of electronic commerce,overwhelming informationoverloads and review manipulation make consumers lost in ocean of reviews and face huge cognitive stress. To address this issue, different types of online review have been developed by online marketplaces. Especially, except traditional types of online reviews (positive, neutral and negative), several new types of online review (review with picture and additional review) do not only contain plain text, but also pictures. Consumers could attach additional reviews to the original reviews to further share their experience sometimes later. Few studies have focused on which types of online reviews are able to influence consumers’ decisions more efficiently. Especially, research on new types of reviews is still unanswered.Using data from Taobao.com, the biggest electronic marketplace in China,this study conducts an empirical investigation to bridge the gap. Weinvestigatethat whether and howtraditional text reviewsand new types of reviews influence consumers’ purchase decision making. The results show that under the context of information overload and review manipulation, traditional reviewsare still influential, but less effective than new types of reviews. Although review with picture and additional review don’t show valence directly, they present more reliable references towards product quality and attract consumers’ attention more efficiently.And it is more interesting that new types of online review provide an effective channel for consumers to alleviate their dissatisfaction to effect potential consumers purchase decision making. The findings of this study can provide useful implications for researchers by highlighting the roles of different types of online review in consumers’ decision making. Also, the empirical investigation in this paper will remind business vendors to focus on online reviews especially new types of online reviews and conduct targeted marketing strategies to increase competitive advantage and improve their sales performance

    Numerical Simulation of Projectile Oblique Impact on Microspacecraft Structure

    In the present study, the microspacecraft bulkhead was reduced to the double honeycomb panel, and the projectile oblique hypervelocity impact on the double honeycomb panel was simulated. The distribution of the debris cloud and the damage of a honeycomb sandwich panel were investigated when the incident angles were set to be 60°, 45°, and 30°. The results showed that as incident angle decreased, the distribution of debris cloud was increased gradually, while the maximum perforation size of the rear face sheet was firstly increased with the decrease of the incident angle and then decreased. On the other hand, the damage area and the damage degree of the front face sheet of the second honeycomb panel layer were increased with the decrease of the incident angle. Finally, the critical angle of front and rear face sheets of the honeycomb sandwich panel was obtained under oblique hypervelocity impact

    Practical Stabilization of Uncertain Nonholonomic Mobile Robots Based on Visual Servoing Model with Uncalibrated Camera Parameters

    The practical stabilization problem is addressed for a class of uncertain nonholonomic mobile robots with uncalibrated visual parameters. Based on the visual servoing kinematic model, a new switching controller is presented in the presence of parametric uncertainties associated with the camera system. In comparison with existing methods, the new design method is directly used to control the original system without any state or input transformation, which is effective to avoid singularity. Under the proposed control law, it is rigorously proved that all the states of closed-loop system can be stabilized to a prescribed arbitrarily small neighborhood of the zero equilibrium point. Furthermore, this switching control technique can be applied to solve the practical stabilization problem of a kind of mobile robots with uncertain parameters (and angle measurement disturbance) which appeared in some literatures such as Morin et al. (1998), Hespanha et al. (1999), Jiang (2000), and Hong et al. (2005). Finally, the simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller design approach

    Service Failure and Consumers’ Satisfaction with the Healthcare Industry: Moderating Role of Recommendation

    This study explores the effects of service failure on different service attributes related to patients’ satisfaction (i.e., therapeutic effect and service attitude). We consider patients’ recommendation-seeking behavior and examine the moderating effects of recommendation before medical consultation and its differences between the online and offline word-of-mouth (WOM) recommendations. We collected over 3,000,000 reviews from a leading Chinese online health community to facilitate the empirical analysis. We use two ordinal logit models as bases and, find that service failure exerts a negative effect on patients’ both therapeutic effect satisfaction and service atti-tude satisfaction. Moreover, the effect of service fail-ure will be attenuated if patients seek recommenda-tions on doctors before consulting them. Moreover, the moderating effects of online WOM recommenda-tions is demonstrated to be lower than those of the offline ones. Our findings provide important perspectives for the literature and managerial suggestions for stakeholders
