Neuropilin 1 sequestration by neuropathogenic mutant glycyl-tRNA synthetase is permissive to vascular homeostasis
The mechanism by which dominantly inherited mutations in the housekeeping gene GARS, which
encodes glycyl-tRNA synthetase (GlyRS), mediate selective peripheral nerve toxicity resulting in
Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2D (CMT2D) is still largely unresolved. The transmembrane receptor
protein neuropilin 1 (Nrp1) was recently identifed as an aberrant extracellular binding partner of
mutant GlyRS. Formation of the Nrp1/mutant GlyRS complex antagonises Nrp1 interaction with
one of its main natural ligands, vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), contributing to
neurodegeneration. However, reduced extracellular binding of VEGF-A to Nrp1 is known to disrupt
post-natal blood vessel development and growth. We therefore analysed the vascular system at early
and late symptomatic time points in CMT2D mouse muscles, retina, and sciatic nerve, as well as in
embryonic hindbrain. Mutant tissues show no diference in blood vessel diameter, density/growth, and
branching from embryonic development to three months, spanning the duration over which numerous
sensory and neuromuscular phenotypes manifest. Our fndings indicate that mutant GlyRS-mediated
disruption of Nrp1/VEGF-A signalling is permissive to maturation and maintenance of the vasculature in
CMT2D mice
Quantitative Analysis of Curing Mechanisms of Epoxy Resin by Mid- and Near- Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy
This article informs the essence of major work done by a number of researchers on the analysis of two-step curing mechanism of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy resin in presence of amine curing agents using near- and mid-IR technology. Various peaks used as a marker for resin formation are discussed and their implementation is comprehensively studied. In addition to this, a wide range of information about the importance of reference peaks in both near-IR (NIR) and mid-IR (MIR) regions are congregated and their accuracy is audited. Also discrepancies observed by researchers in epoxy conversion (α) in NIR and MIR regions are reviewed to highlight the comparative advantages of both regions, one over the other.Defence Science Journal, Vol. 64, No. 3, May 2014, pp. 314-321, DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.14429/dsj.64.732

Assessing impacts of climate change and human activities on streamflow and sediment discharge in the Ganjiang River basin (1964-2013)
© 2019 by the authors. National large-scale soil and water conservation controls on the Gangjiang River basin have been documented, but the effect of governance on regional watershed hydrology and how the main driving factors act have not been systematically studied yet. To do this, this study evaluated changing trends and detected transition years for both streamflow and sediment discharge using long-term historical records at seven hydrological stations in the Ganjiang River basin over the past 50 years. The double mass curve (DMC) method was used to quantify the effects of both climate change and human activities on hydrological regime shifts. The results showed that the distributions of precipitation, streamflow, and sediment discharge within a year are extremely uneven and mainly concentrated in the flood season of Jiangxi Province. None of the stations showed significant trends over time for either annual precipitation or streamflow, while the annual sediment discharge at most stations decreased significantly over time. The estimation of sediment discharge via DMC indicated that after the transition years, there were rapid reductions in sediment discharge at all hydrological stations, and the average decline degree of midstream and downstream were much larger than that of upstream. Human activities, especially the increase of vegetation cover and construction of large and medium-sized reservoirs, provided a significantly greater contribution to the reduction of sediment discharge than did precipitation changes. As a case study of river evolution under global change environment, this study could provide scientific basis for the control of soil erosion and the management of water resources in Ganjiang River, as well as for the related research of Poyang Lake and the Yangtze River basin of China
Ferroptosis in Cancer Therapy: Mechanisms, Small Molecule Inducers, and Novel Approaches
YiLin Luo, Xin Yue Bai, Lei Zhang, Qian Qian Hu, Ning Zhang, Jun Zhi Cheng, Ming Zheng Hou, Xiao Long Liu Yan ‘an Small Molecule Innovative Drug R&D Engineering Research Center, School of Medicine, Yan’an University, Yan’an, People’s Republic of ChinaCorrespondence: Xiao Long Liu, Email [email protected]: Ferroptosis, a unique form of programmed cell death, is initiated by an excess of iron accumulation and lipid peroxidation-induced damage. There is a growing body of evidence indicating that ferroptosis plays a critical role in the advancement of tumors. The increased metabolic activity and higher iron levels in tumor cells make them particularly vulnerable to ferroptosis. As a result, the targeted induction of ferroptosis is becoming an increasingly promising approach for cancer treatment. This review offers an overview of the regulatory mechanisms of ferroptosis, delves into the mechanism of action of traditional small molecule ferroptosis inducers and their effects on various tumors. In addition, the latest progress in inducing ferroptosis using new means such as proteolysis-targeting chimeras (PROTACs), photodynamic therapy (PDT), sonodynamic therapy (SDT) and nanomaterials is summarized. Finally, this review discusses the challenges and opportunities in the development of ferroptosis-inducing agents, focusing on discovering new targets, improving selectivity, and reducing toxic and side effects.Keywords: ferroptosis inducers, small molecules, PROTACs, PDT, SDT, nanomaterial
Light hadron, Charmonium(-like) and Bottomonium(-like) states
Hadron physics represents the study of strongly interacting matter in all its
manifestations and the understanding of its properties and interactions. The
interest on this field has been revitalized by the discovery of new light
hadrons, charmonium- and bottomonium-like states. I review the most recent
experimental results from different experiments.Comment: Presented at Lepton-Photon 2011, Mumbai, India; 21 pages, 18 figures;

Search for K_S K_L in psi'' decays
K_S K_L from psi'' decays is searched for using the psi'' data collected by
BESII at BEPC, the upper limit of the branching fraction is determined to be
B(psi''--> K_S K_L) < 2.1\times 10^{-4} at 90% C. L. The measurement is
compared with the prediction of the S- and D-wave mixing model of the
charmonia, based on the measurements of the branching fractions of J/psi-->K_S
K_L and psi'-->K_S K_L.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figur
Observation of a ppb mass threshoud enhancement in \psi^\prime\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi(J/\psi\to\gamma p\bar{p}) decay
The decay channel
is studied using a sample of events collected
by the BESIII experiment at BEPCII. A strong enhancement at threshold is
observed in the invariant mass spectrum. The enhancement can be fit
with an -wave Breit-Wigner resonance function with a resulting peak mass of
and a
narrow width that is at the 90% confidence level.
These results are consistent with published BESII results. These mass and width
values do not match with those of any known meson resonance.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Chinese Physics
