Models of Models: The Symbiotic Relationship between Models and Wargames

    Get PDF
Military planning uses wargames to model the processes and decisions of an operation. As these operations become increasingly complex, the wargames similarly become more complex. Complex wargames are difficult to design and execute. As such, computer-based modeling and simulation can aid the wargame development, ensuring smooth execution. In particular, computer-based modeling and simulation can develop and validate the processes, determine initial conditions, evaluate the rules, and aid in validation. In turn, the wargame can provide useful data that can be fed into detailed models that can provide quantitative analysis to decision-makers

Objective: Macrotyloma uniflorum (Horse gram) is an important legume widely consumed in the tropical south Asian countries including India. The present investigation is the elucidation of anti-inflammatory activity of M. uniflorum as it has several medicinal properties. The M. uniflorum was evaluated for inhibition of human secretory phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) as a function of anti-inflammatory activity. Methods: The total phenols, antioxidant (DPPH scavenging), Anti-lipid peroxidation, PLA2 inhibition and lipoxygenase (5 & 15-LOX) inhibition activity of aqueous extracts of M. uniflorum coat and pulp were assayed by in vitro method. The aqueous extract of M. uniflorum seed coat was subjected to inhibit PLA2 enzymes from human inflammatory fluids (Human Synovial Fluid and Human Pleural Fluid) and snake venoms (Naja naja and Vipera russllii) using [14]C labeled E. coli by in vivo method. A further effect of substrate and calcium concentration on inhibition of VRV-PLA2 in presence and absence of M. uniflorum coat extract were assayed. Results: Aqueous coat extract of M. uniflorum shows higher phenolics and biological activity and inhibited all sPLA2 enzymes in concentration dependent manner. The IC50 values are found to be in the range of 11.42-20.88μg and IC50 values for 5-LOX and 15-LOX is 25.92μg and 32.47μg respectively. The extract effectively neutralized indirect hemolytic activity and showed similar potency in neutralizing the in vivo sPLA2 induced mouse paw edema. Conclusion: These findings suggest that, the active compound/s in extracts of M. uniflorum individually or synergistically responsible for observed sPLA2 inhibition.Â

Astrophysical Tests of Modified Gravity: A Screening Map of the Nearby Universe

    Get PDF
Astrophysical tests of modified modified gravity theories in the nearby universe have been emphasized recently by Hui, Nicolis and Stubbs (2009) and Jain and VanderPlas (2011). A key element of such tests is the screening mechanism whereby general relativity is restored in massive halos or high density environments like the Milky Way. In chameleon theories of gravity, including all f(R) models, field dwarf galaxies may be unscreened and therefore feel an extra force, as opposed to screened galaxies. The first step to study differences between screened and unscreened galaxies is to create a 3D screening map. We use N-body simulations to test and calibrate simple approximations to determine the level of screening in galaxy catalogs. Sources of systematic errors in the screening map due to observational inaccuracies are modeled and their contamination is estimated. We then apply our methods to create a map out to 200 Mpc in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey footprint using data from the Sloan survey and other sources. In two companion papers this map will be used to carry out new tests of gravity using distance indicators and the disks of dwarf galaxies. We also make our screening map publicly available.Comment: 21 pages, 10 figure

    Automated rendezvous and capture system

This paper describes an ARC system that is an attempt to simplify opration, reduce energy requirements, reduce weight, and provide longterm use and reliability. The ARC system is a laser/optical/holographic (LOH) control system for guidance, rendezvous, and docking (RVD). The LOH/RVD utilizes a hologram, residing at the target platform. Excited by a laser diode, the hologram projects an image at a given distance from the platform. A vision system in the automated chase vehicle sees the projected image and, by optical comparisons, guides the chase vehicle to that image, reaching a proximity conductive to soft docking. The vision system then shifts to a second hologram image holding at close proximity (2mm) to the target platform and guides to it for controlled, precise docking at the rendezvous point. The holographic image projections from the target platform, are composed of color hues and may be circular, triangular or of any other shape and texture that may enhance the ability of the chase vehicle's vision system to analyze information pertinent to velocity, attitude, and roll of the target platform. Any movement of the image, whether planned or errant, will be translated by the vision system into synchronous adjustments throughout the vehicle approach path

In day to day life cloud is most essential part. Now cloud storage are use for business purpose the cloud is popular due to their huge amount of advantages the cloud is portable we can able to access the cloud anywhere globally. A cloud service provider maintains much duplication and each piece of data are globally distributed on servers. The main problem of cloud is to handle duplication of data which is too costly to achieve powerful consistency on world wide .In this paper we present a novel consistency service model which contain a large amount of data cloud and multiple audit clouds In The Consistency Service model . a data cloud is maintain by Cloud service Provider (CSP) and the number of user constitute group and that group of user can constitute an audit cloud Which can check whether the data cloud provides the valid level of consistency or not we suggest the 2 level auditing architecture, two level auditing architecture requires a loosely synchronize clock in the audit cloud. Then, design algorithms to quantify the commonality of violations metrics, and the staleness of the value of a read metrics. Finally, a Analytical Auditing Strategy (AAS) to shows as many violations as possible. Thus system performed using a combination of simulations and real cloud deployments to validate Analytical Auditing Strategy (AAS). DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.15012
